Our mind is quite powerful. And a solid memory of pitches is a great foundation for singing.
Often times singing off pitch are caused by two things: 1) remembering the pitch wrong 2) not being able to produce the pitch one has imagined in mind's ear. With this video, please feel free to play it as some background music to program your mind to remember solfege more precisely, solving scenario 1) as stated before. If you suspect your problem is 2), then feel free to hum/lip trill along this track to help coordinate your body and hit the scale perfectly on pitch.

My past teaching experience was mostly designing singing exercises for students in 1-1 singing sessions, each session one hour long, working with my voice pedagogy coach Justin Stoney at the same time. I focused a lot on making sure the exercises are working in the correct way and is in line with what that the singer wants, and at the same time giving them lots of encouragements, and pointing out where are the possibilities waiting to be discovered in their voice.

Contrary to the popular belief that singing is an innate talent whether you are born with or you are not, singing is a skill that could be learned just like driving. The mechanism of voice production could be separated into chunks and trained accordingly.

I am classically trained vocally, with an intensive vocal pedagogy training certificate that requires more than twenty hours of vocal teaching analysis/observation and more than thirty hours of voice teaching in-depth training at New York Vocal Coaching with its founder Justin Stoney. Yes, I am a voice technician that knows how the voice works and ready to help you hone your own voice!

With all that said, I truly think all voices are beautiful, and our only job is to discover how to work with them and produce fun and beautiful vocal products. I will be able to give you CUSTOMIZED vocal exercises along the way to help you grow your voice. I will not mindlessly give you exercises that might be not useful or even detrimental to you. I know how voice works and I know every voice exercise should have purposes, and what one person needs, the other person probably does not need at all. So I will keep you safe on the way by tuning in to YOUR voice and YOUR needs.

If you are interested in the voice production and why I give you certain voice exercises, I am more than happy to explain all of them to you so that you could carry around your vocal toolbox with you anywhere knowing what you are doing for your voice.

What singing is - 
Singing is healing.
Singing is a prayer.
Singing is the soul’s language.
When we turn off our judgmental storm inside our head and be one with our gut feeling and our hearts, the notes flow out effortlessly.

In a sense, singing is meditating. And a singing lesson is a zen session. Struggling, suffering, shouting, straining, would only cause pain in the vocal folds and produce sounds not so friendly to the ears. We learn how to trust out instinct and intuition, relax ourselves in different shades of emotions, hold onto our true selves no matter what note or words we are singing. 

So in a way, singing is a journey to finding your personal truth, with hours and hours of zen time to find your center and express the life inside you. 

What singing is not-
Singing is NOT a competition. 
Singing is NOT merely hitting the right notes at the right time like playing a computer game or handling some machinery.
We cannot directly control the muscles involved in singing like we control the hands playing the piano.
We have to surrender to a certain extent. To God, to the world, whatever your world view integrates it. It has a gesture of surrendering and being in the flow.

The best things is, eventually your singing spills over to every area of your life. When the pain of the life crushes you down and you feel trapped in a misty maze, singing is the light that shows you the way and tells you that you are okay. The more you find the truth inside you with singing, the more you shine; the more passion you feel inside yourself; the more you could feel the life force, carrying you through the ups and downs of this world.

So embark on this journey of singing with me. I am here as your guidance, your traveling mate, your fellow soul in the river of time and space.
Let us quiet our minds and drop into our hearts.
Let us celebrate the present of the present.
Let us melt down the walls inside our hearts and experience the strength that only love can bring.

I believe Fanjin only Video was on Vocal Breathing. I was very impressed with her knowledge. I wish she did more Videos or Live Classes to help me decide if indeed her style is what I'm looking for. Even though her breathing video was very good, I'm trying to decide who I want for one on one, and I think the more exposure I have with Live Classes or Videos of that teacher on a variety of subjects, the better I can decide.

Jin is absolutely amazing. It's been over a year since I've started this singing journey with her and I couldn't have ever imagined how far I would come, yet there's still so much to learn. She always finds new ways to teach according to your strengths and I'm beyond glad that I chose her to be my instructor.

This being my last lesson with Jin for the time being, I cannot begin to describe how at home she makes you feel when working with her. My deepest appreciations go out to her passion and nerdiness for the journey that is singing. She will forever have a place in my heart and voice :)

People like to sing higher in mix and some struggle with it. One thing worth trying is training your head voice. A good head voice is the foundation to higher notes, no matter the style. So train your head voice with humming and wake up the resonators in the head!
