Bridget is an award-winning operatic mezzo-soprano and voice technician. She helps students of all ages develop their own unique instruments through healthy vocal production and technique, breath work, movement, and body awareness. She is a warm, nurturing, and enthusiastic teacher who tailors each lesson to the specific needs and goals of her students. She strives to create an environment in which students will gain confidence, feel safe to express themselves, and grow in their vocal abilities. Many of Bridget's students perform leading roles in their high school and community theater productions, are soloists and music leaders in their church worship teams, and have gone on to pursue singing in college and as professionals. Bridget works with singers across genres including choral singing, pop, musical theater, rock, jazz, classical, opera, and more! 

Bridget is a recent Metropolitan Opera National Council District Winner, Mary Jacobs Smith Singer of the Year Winner, and has performed on the stages of The Glimmerglass Festival, Fort Worth Opera, Kentucky Opera, Opera Mississippi, Charlottesville Opera, Shreveport Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera and more! She has taught masterclasses with music majors including those at the University of Southern Indiana working on technique and style in both classical and musical theater repertoire. She has an Artist Diploma in Opera from Texas Christian University, a Master's Degree in Voice Performance from Boston University and a BM in Voice Performance/BA in Film from Western Michigan University. Bridget also performs as a soloist in the Opera-Rock mashup group, The Tapestry, singing everything from Wagner to Van Halen.

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities. As an accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), Lambda Pi Eta has active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide. Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest in the communication discipline.

Mu Phi Epsilon (ΜΦΕ) is a co-ed international professional music fraternity. Today, Mu Phi Epsilon has chapters both nationally and internationally. The fraternity supports achievement in music through the awarding of grants and scholarships, as well as music competitions, concerts, and summer music programs. Much of this work has been supported by the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation, an organization that has been in existence since 1963, as well as fundraising and donations.

Soon she will join Shreveport Opera as a resident artist making her role debut as Rosina in The Barber of Seville. Bridget recently taught a masterclass with the students at the University of Southern Indiana working on technique and style in both classical and musical theater repertoire. Hello! Here are a few of my favorite exercises that I use as a professional opera singer to release Jaw, Neck, and Tongue tension before I sing. Sometimes life is stressful and we begin to carry our tension in our upper body, face, and even our tongue. This tension will interfere with our ability to make easy, clear, and beautiful sounds and I'm here to help you prevent that! I hope you found this video helpful and enjoy adding these facial massages to your warm-up routine! 

Exercises to Release Jaw, Neck, and Tongue Tension for Singers

Here are a few of my favorite initial warm-up exercises to find a mix belt sound. This is super helpful for trying to blend the break between registers and also to find a closed vocal cord position with balanced air pressure. Take this as low or as high as your voice allows, play around, and have fun with it!
