About Zbigniew
My greatest desire is that I will instill in each of my students the love I have for making music.
I am a classically-trained violinist. I grew up in Lodz, Poland, where I began musical education at the age of 7.
I studied violin and piano at the Music High School and Music Academy of K.&G. Bacewicz, Lodz, Poland and earned a Master Degree in violin performance in 1980.
During his College years I started to perform with the Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio and Television.
From the mid – 70s until the early 1990s, I performed with several Polish orchestras
and held a position as a violin teacher for four years at the College of Education
in Slupsk, Poland.
Then, I spent almost 10 years performing in numerous ensembles and orchestras in Germany and toured with Orchestra of Great Theater of Lodz in many countries all over the
world.
From 2002 – 2005 he was first violinist at Lodz’s Operetta Theater.
I moved to Michigan in 2005, where he performs with Macomb, Jackson and Flat Rock Symphony Orchestras.

*** Lesson Details ***
The most interesting and beneficial thing about performing music is that it is one of the few activities that engages both the left and the right brain at the same time. I believe that every Human Being is precious and deserves to be nurtured and encouraged in a fun and loving environment. With that in mind, my teaching places equal importance on developing strong technique, and developing creativity. Students learn all the basics of music, and also spend time developing strong ensemble skills and strong background knowledge of style and repertoire, so that they can enjoy music in all kinds of settings, all their lives.
Our time spent together will be laid back and comfortable, yet challenging because that is probably why you want to take lessons.
Each lesson will conclude with an assignment of instrumental pieces/songs given to work on throughout the week—usually 2-3 short songs for 30-minute lessons, and 1-2 longer instrumental pieces for an hour-long lesson. These will be the same pieces we have worked on during the lesson time, so you will go home with the knowledge you need to master each piece. Music theory sheets and technique exercises will also be included in the assignments.
Within 6 months, you will begin discovering how to read music and understand the language of it. You will learn how to play some of your favorite songs/instrumental pieces and learn some that you might not know. We'll discover what you really want to learn and achieve through taking lessons, and we will work toward those goals!
Discipline is vital to musical progress and daily practice is strongly urged, in order for the student to progress. If a students don't practice, they won't progress. Because of that, you can expect that I will encourage consistent and regular practice, always keeping in mind that the study of music is meant to be fun.
Knowing from experience how "boring" it can be to learn by rote, I combine technical work with fun time playing duets together, improvising, and exploring a wide variety of styles and genres of music.
I would be honored to share my knowledge and love of music with you. Give yourself a priceless gift that will last a lifetime!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Grand Piano /Hammond Organ

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have their own instrument. I can provide the music stand and I always bring my own instrument so that I can demonstrate during lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Teaching methods: Suzuki and traditional /formal method, in group and one on one settings

About Jakarra
Jakarra Howard is a Voice Care Specialist, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from Kalamazoo College. In addition to her degree, she has gained knowledge of how the voice works through completed course work in Speech Language Pathology including courses in voice disorders and interventions. As a member of the Voice Foundation, Jakarra is currently working toward a Masters in Speech Language Pathology, along with certifications from various vocal health institutions.

Her music career spans more than 15 years and includes various musical performances, along with the opportunity to teach voice and piano to many. She’s had the pleasure of opening for many popular artists, performing a rendition of “The National Anthem” at a Detroit Lions game, and singing for former Michigan House Representative Carolyn Kilpatrick. She has a
lso provided background vocals for many artists, while working on personal music projects. Internationally, Jakarra has performed as the lead vocalist during a tour to Japan with the Kalamazoo Jazz Ensemble.

While performing and teaching, Jakarra began to notice that many singers, including her, were not reaching their full, singing potential. Why? Because the whole body was not totally prepared for the various projects that a singer often encountered. Through this experience, she realized a fascination with the “singing voice” and began to understand that singers are athletes. Therefore, just as athletes train, a singer must also constantly train to keep the voice and body in shape.

Along with her fascination, Jakarra has a passion to help singers perform at their most optimal level. She created Voice Couture Consulting (VCC) to provide a service where singers can learn about their whole body as it relates to their voice and prepare their voice and body for each project. Since everyone is different, VCC custom designs a combination of approaches to specifically fit each singer. This includes a tailored program that provides nutrition and exercise routines. Jakarra believes this program will help singers to know their voices inside and out. From the background singer to the lead vocalist, Jakarra is excited about helping singers reach their full potential!

About Carrie
I am currently pursuing a dual Masters degree at the University of Michigan in piano performance and chamber music. I have taught for five years and have been continually amazed by the work that the students have done in music. I love interacting with kids and adults who come to me because of their love for piano. Back at home in California I have had students take the ABRSM exams in both the performance and music theory and pass successfully. I help students reach the excellence that they wish to achieve. Although I am a very patient teacher, I still push students when needed so they reach goals they did not think they could have reached. I teach a lot of beginners, so many of them build their foundations of music (note reading, rhythm, music theory, dynamics) with me. I would love to get to know the students more and support them in th

I have been teaching since I was in my Master's program. Mostly, I taught with an inner city outreach in Kansas City. I had three students who were doing quite well. I gave supplementary lessons to a couple of other local high school students, both of whom were playing at a very advanced level. I guided them with their preparation and practicing process, as well as helped them when they were making audition recordings for music schools in university. One of them is at the Jacobs School at Indiana University, and the other is studying at my alma mater, the Cleveland Institute of Music.
I also had a private student who I would teach for two hours a week who drove up from Arkansas. She was half-way through high school. I worked with her on Mozart's Violin Concerto no. 5, and she won second place in her youth orchestra's concerto competition.
