I am a classically-trained violinist. I grew up in Lodz, Poland, where I began musical education at the age of 7.
I studied violin and piano at the Music High School and Music Academy of K.&G. Bacewicz, Lodz, Poland and earned a Master Degree in violin performance in 1980.
During his College years I started to perform with the Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio and Television.
From the mid – 70s until the early 1990s, I performed with several Polish orchestras
and held a position as a v
in Slupsk, Poland.
Then, I spent almost 10 years performing in numerous ensembles and orchestras in Germany and toured with Orchestra of Great Theater of Lodz in many countries all over the world.
From 2002 – 2005 he was first violinist at Lodz’s Operetta Theater.
I moved to Michigan in 2005, where he performs with Macomb, Jackson and Flat Rock Symphony Orchestras.
*** Lesson Details ***
The most interesting and beneficial thing about performing music is that it is one of the few activities that engages both the left and the right brain at the same time. I believe that every Human Being is precious and deserves to be nurtured and encouraged in a fun and loving environment. With that in mind, my teaching places equal importance on developing strong technique, and developing creativity. Students learn all the basics of music, and also spend time developing strong ensemble skills and strong background knowledge of style and repertoire, so that they can enjoy music in all kinds of settings, all their lives.
Our time spent together will be laid back and comfortable, yet challenging because that is probably why you want to take lessons.
Each lesson will conclude with an assignment of instrumental pieces/songs given to work on throughout the week—usually 2-3 short songs for 30-minute lessons, and 1-2 longer instrumental pieces for an hour-long lesson. These will be the same pieces we have worked on during the lesson time, so you will go home with the knowledge you need to master each piece. Music theory sheets and technique exercises will also be included in the assignments.
Within 6 months, you will begin discovering how to read music and understand the language of it. You will learn how to play some of your favorite songs/instrumental pieces and learn some that you might not know. We'll discover what you really want to learn and achieve through taking lessons, and we will work toward those goals!
Discipline is vital to musical progress and daily practice is strongly urged, in order for the student to progress. If a students don't practice, they won't progress. Because of that, you can expect that I will encourage consistent and regular practice, always keeping in mind that the study of music is meant to be fun.
Knowing from experience how "boring" it can be to learn by rote, I combine technical work with fun time playing duets together, improvising, and exploring a wide variety of styles and genres of music.

As a performer, I have played in orchestras and chamber ensembles across the country and some in Europe. I am currently a substitute member of a few small orchestras in the state of Michigan and elsewhere, and I will be performing with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, one of the country's best young artist orchestras.
I have two degrees in clarinet performance from two highly ranked music programs, and my principal teachers include Chad Burrow, Dan Gilbert, and Dr. Anthony J. Costa. I have also completed additional studies with major symphony players such as Michael Rusinek, Joaquin Valdepenas, and Burt Hara.
As a teacher, I've maintained small private studios in the Ann Arbor, MI and State College, PA areas. I've also taught saxophone and clarinet in Aspen, Colorado with the P.A.L.S. program, as part of the Aspen Music Festival.
My goal as a teacher is to help cultivate an enriching and entertaining musical experience with the clarinet and/or saxophone. I hope to cater to the student’s goals as a performer (whether it be achieving perfect scores in solo competitions or simply learning to play a few easy jazz tunes), while offering a wealth of information along the way. Lessons will focus on fundamentals, musical literacy, aural skills, artistic creativity, improvisation, and composition. While I believe that structure in lessons is important for consistent development, I also believe that every student has different needs, therefore each student will receive custom-tailored lessons. The material I use is a culmination of both what I've used as a developing clarinetist, as well as materials my teachers have used and recommended in pedagogy classes I've taken.
In short, it is my hope that I can help students obtain their goals while enjoying the wonderfully creative experience of learning an instrument and expressing themselves through the wonderful world of music.
