Welcome I'm Teacher Lisa! I've helped English Language (ESL) ADULT LEARNERS (ONLY) improve their overall conversational and communication skills for the past 12 years. The secret to becoming a more fluent speaker is to...speak more!

My best advice: Learn to manage your anxiety and increase your 'talk time' and speak more! The more you communicate in English the more progress you will make. But the key is to speak about a variety of topics that influence your personal life. Don't just learn random vocabulary words. Learn the words that you need in your functional English language life. In addition, I am an excellent public speaker with many years of experience in front of large groups of people.

I enjoy seeing my students improve. I celebrate even the smallest of improvements since they lead to larger ones. I enjoy meeting people from different countries. My students often say that I am friendly, easy to understand, and I bring a warm smile to the classroom. See you in my next class!

This class focuses on improving pronunciation and accent reduction by considering the most common American English phonograms and sound clusters; and the common pronunciation problems of certain language groups like Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, etc. We will also consider some methods to reduce an accent. In addition, students will be given an opportunity to practice the techniques shown and ask questions about their pronunciation issues. A PDF worksheet of the 'Common American English Phonograms', 'Pronunciation Problems of Selected Groups' and 'minimal pairs' will be made available. This class will also include some speaking practice.
