About Amber

I am a professional freelance artist, and owner of Leola Studios. I have been doing custom artwork for over 15 years, and have several contract jobs with businesses on my resume. I have an Associates Degree in Fine Arts/Animation from Academy of Art University.

I specialize in photo realism, and 90% of the private commissions I get are portraits. However, I work in a broad range of styles and mediums, from line work to abstract to sketch, with charcoal to paint to clay. I love expanding my knowledge and trying new things, but above all I love creating!! I feel that imagination and expression through art/music/literature are crucial to a person's development, and this is something I pass on to my daughters, and frequently fundraise for, in an attempt to keep art programs in our schools.

I love meeting new people and sharing my knowledg

e, so after having so many people ask me to show them how to draw, I began teaching. I've taught one on one, and classes large in size. I have also taught young children, up to age 98! I am very patient and don't mind a slew of questions! I want to help students become the best at their craft.

Art is my passion and so important in our world, with proven benefits! I'd like to think with teaching, I'm helping to keep it alive, even if just in my small way.

About Jonathan

I am a professional photographer specializing in photojournalism, portrait, food, and wedding photography. I graduated from UCLA and have worked professionally in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.

Students can expect to improve week to week in their photography skills. Every photographer has a unique vision; I teach students the technical and real-world approaches to bring that vision to life. I can help any student to photograph with confidence and success.

I teach photography students of all different ages and experience levels. I have 15 years of professional experience. I can teach students to select the right camera settings for any situation and compose their photos for the highest visual interest.

As a professional photographer, I frequently travel to New York and San Francisco for photo shoots. I have photographed eve

nts with Michelle Obama and Nancy Reagan. I've worked with high-end restaurants such as Blue Hill at Stone Barns for their food photography. I've photographed alongside firefighters battling wildfires in Southern California. I love to mentor students who want to become effective, creative photographers.

My personal passion is photographing people, but I firmly believe that a great foundation is essential to any and every photographic field. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better photographer!

Jonathan is without a doubt a talented professional photographer / artist. Yet he has adapted himself to working with a novice trying to navigate a new digital camera before a big Patagonia vacation of a lifetime. Whether you are a beginner like I am or a professional photographer looking to improve your game, Jonathan will exceed your expectations. I like his patient and calm approach to my questions and after only two lessons I have already improved so much.

About Daniel

My name is Dan. The only thing that I love more than painting is teaching students how to paint. I call my teaching method, "serious play". In other words, I want the students to learn something of value during each class, but also to enjoy the creative process that is key to making a successful painting.

Keep the brushes wet, make every stroke count! Very patient - you’ve just got to do it. Been invaluable in guiding the composition - he can’t hold the brush for you! For a “left brained” person like myself I need to get the “slap”!😄

"Julie is such a great instructor! She really takes the time to explain new concepts and has helped me figure out how to use my rather complicated camera.
I am greatly enjoying my lessons with her and plan to have quite a few more! Absolutely worth the price!"

"Sarah is a great teacher! She is knowledgeable and patient. Even though I have enjoyed taking photos for years I just never knew much about my digital cam

"My 12 year old daughter has had a love for illustration her whole life and It was hard to find an art teacher that focused on her type of drawing. We fi
nally found Ms. Emily!! She and I love her!! She has not only helped my daughter become a better illustrator, she has helped her overcome some of her anxieties. She is kind and helpful without judging but will push you to create a piece that you will feel proud of. We just think she’s wonderful!!"

"I have always felt like I had a creative impulse I needed to express, but felt like I needed some solidified skills to be able to begin. I felt nervous a
bout starting to learn something new at my age, but from the first conversation I had with Jessica, I knew I would feel absolutely at ease learning with her. Jessica is both an experienced educator and a truly inspired artist. One of the first things she taught me was how to look at the world around me differently and in a more open way that allowed me to translate that to paper. It was exhilarating. Jessica is absolutely lovely, knowledgeable and provides tangible instructions that are showing their effect on paper! I am so thrilled with the work I am creating with her continued instruction. I cannot more highly reccommend studying with Jessica!"
