About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

About Dovile
I began teaching while studying in Art Institute. My first students were 5 to 7 yr. old kids. It was very challenging, but also very rewarding. I was teaching them skills, they were teaching me patience. Later the age of my students grew, until I ended up teaching the same students I was in the same classes just 6 months ago. Again another challenge. I love challenges and even more I love helping others to overcome them.
My philosophy about teaching is that everybody can learn, it is only the way how we learn is different for different people. Another very important thing - I strive to be creative, respectful and approachable.

I am a fashion samplemaker, and a devoted sewing teacher! My greatest joy is seeing my students master new skills, empower themselves through crafting their own style, and applying their learning throughout their lives. I maintain a blog on Tumblr where you can see some current and past fashion samplemaking work (as released by the designer themselves) as well as video tutorials that I've made.

While I am patient, my enthusiasm is palpable during each lesson. Each lesson is designed for maximum student engagement using a show-not-tell approach. Sewing is a hands-on enterprise! So, I do my best to empower each student with each lesson.

Five star stellar learning experience! Kim is an ace at sewing (and probably many other things) but I wAs most struck by how well she teaches. She is a for real capital T Teacher. There are geniuses out there in the world who cannot explain something to another human in a way they can actually understand. At that particular skill, Kim Grant is masterful. She instantly (intuitively?) understood where I was stuck and explained the next part or showed me a way of looking at it that made it perfectly clear. She came to where I was in my sewing knowledge and brought me a little closer to where she is. I took sewing lessons for 1.5 with a very fine Teacher but I feel like I learned more in those 2 hours with Kim than in a year with the other (very smart and extremely capable) sewing teacher. Kim was also extremely encouraging and reassuring and confidence boosting. I was thankful for that. I’m a huge fan.

Kim is super knowledgeable and great at connecting tools, skills and goals. I have learned a lot more already in one lesson than I would have expected, all of it relevant to what I want to be able to sew for myself on my machine. Thank you, Kim! Looking forward to my next lesson :)

About Siddharth
Hi there, my name is Siddharth and I have been teaching chess in public and private schools, including private lessons, over the last three years.

I love to see students grow with each lesson and accomplish their goals. Under my tutelage, I have helped students advance from beginner level to tournament level competition. Recently, two of my students have won in their respective tournaments.

I attended De Monte Fort University in England and earned my degree in Textile Technology and Business Management in 1976. Since then I have been fortunate to be able to travel worldwide.

I enjoy teaching children of all ages, as well as adults. My philosophy is to make chess a fun experience while improving my students' technical skills.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals.

About Tonya Tarr
I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a focus in Metals and Jewelry, and a minor in Art History. After college I managed the jewelry section of the school's bookstore before being asked to become the metals and jewelry department chair's assistant. I wore many hats while working over a decade in the department, from teacher to lab technician, and taught students a variety of skills from hand rendering, metals and plastics fabrication and casting to programming in CAD. I love making accessories and have been making beads, brooches and barrettes in polymer clay and felt since I was in junior high. I started metalsmithing in high school, after having dabbled in numerous 2D and performance arts since I can remember.

I have taught classes of all ages. Starting with K-5, my experience ranges from small private groups to
20+ kids, the same holds true when speaking of my experience with teens and adults/trained professionals. Having a passion to spread art to the community is important to me. I’m currently the 'Art in Action' volunteer to my Kindergarteners class where I teach 25 kids a bit of art history while doing an art lesson. When living in Savannah Georgia, I created a group of volunteers, created lesson plans, trained volunteers and taught art classes to different elementary schools in the area, visiting different classes and age groups. I also taught mixed ages summer camp at various locations. While at the college I helped teach ‘Art Educators Forum’- classes for renewing art teacher's accreditation- the ages ranged from mid 20's-mid 60's for that group. Aound the same time I taught ‘Rising Star’- a program for incoming college freshman, to give them a taste of the major once they arrived to the college.

I grew up outside of Chicago Illinois, moved to Savannah Georgia to follow my love of metalsmithing. Found another love while in GA, and after spending a little over a decade there, we moved to Chicago. Less then a year later we moved again- out to sunny California, where we raise 2 kids and enjoy the year round great weather and family events this area has to offer.

About Carrie
Hello All,
My name is Carrie and I have been crocheting for over 25 years. I use crochet as a way to de-stress after a long day of work or a stressful day with the kids. I have made many different things over the years from Afghans to Hats to Slippers. I have also made some odd pieces like my water bottle holder and stuffed dinosaurs. I love teaching people something new and seeing the excitement when they have done something thought was impossible. I moved up to this area about 2 years ago and can't wait to start teaching in this area! I hope to meet with you soon!

Artist, mom, and geek. I’ve loved crafting and comics, sci-fi, animation, and fiber since I was little. I have a chocolate mini/toy poodle puppy, and a 6yo daughter.

I’m a self-taught knitter, and sometimes-crocheter, and have been doing both for about 20 years. I salivate over fiber and fabric alike, and sew smaller projects when time allows. I have a BA in Studio Art, with a concentration in metal and wood sculpture, and fiber.

My goal is to give you a good foundation in knitting, and material and equipment basics, and we can go from there! I can teach you to read patterns, and follow them, as well as drafting your own patterns.
