I am a San Diego native and have shown my paintings extensively throughout San Diego. It wasn't until several years after I graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, that I really tried to show my work in galleries. Most recently, my work has been in shows at Project X Gallery, The Museum of the Living Artist, The San Diego Art Department, Sanctuary Gallery, Limbo Fine Arts, and Sushi Gallery. I have just started to show in other cities, most recently at the Rialto Theater in Corpus Christi, Texas and The Nico Gallery in Seattle, Washington.
Along with my painting career, I have created children’s book and magazine illustrations, done graphic design work, and taught others how to express themselves creatively through art. I have been creating curricula for children’s art programs and teaching them. I also have been te
aching adults how to paint at the San Diego Art Department for the past 10 years and, in the past two years, with Painting &Vino.
Through my decade of teaching painting, I have honed a teaching style that encourages students to balance creativity and imagination with technique and skill. I strive to help students discover a process in which they are able to express themselves creatively while also teaching paint application techniques, color theory and the Elements and Principles of design. I am often in front of 50+ people at a time presenting my painting techniques within a limited amount of time.
I look forward to coaching you whether you're someone who hasn't painted since you were a kid or you're a seasoned painter who just needs a little help, encouragement or direction.
*** Lesson Details *** Subjects may include, but are not limited to: -Color theory -The Elements & Principles of Design and how to use them -The Creative Process -Creating a Composition When You Don't Know What to Paint -Creating a Painting Using a Photo as a Reference -Glazing -Oil vs. Acrylic Paints -Advice for Artists with Works-In-Process
I am happy to teach a student anything s/he wants to explore within the realm of painting.
Deron is an absolute joy to work with. My dude ran off immediately after the lesson to draw some more. Now that's a positive review. :)

It was great! Deron had me pick out a subject and send him the image ahead of time. He had it printed out and ready to go when I got there, along with the paint colors, brushes and everything. Very impressed with his organization. He went at just the right speed for me and we actually made good progress. I'm looking forward to the next lesson!
Welcome! My name is Toshi M. I was born in Hiroshima City and raised in Tokyo, Japan.
I am a veteran Japanese language tutor with over 15 years of experience. I teach people of all ages (from 2 to 85 years old) from all over the world, both in person and through online platforms.
I am currently working with a new project through Google called, "Ok Glass." It's a data collection project that leads to the betterment of Google products for voice search capabilities in their Google search engine, Chrome software and Google Glass. Google has chosen me to record, translate and transcribe for these projects within the Japanese division!
***Please read my entire page including the Cancellation, reschedule and late Policy carefully before purchasing lessons!!***
My tutoring policy is not just simply to teach the Japanese language as
a Japanese. No, I always want to teach students more than the language.
If you are interested in the Japanese traditions as well as the language and traditions, then that is a good start for learning. Fun, interest and enjoyment are the best tools for learning with my tutoring.
You will not only be able to speak Japanese, but you will grasp the traits of the Japanese language, traditions, history, culture, and, most importantly, the uniquely Japanese styles of courtesy and customs simultaneously!
I teach practical Japanese so you can actually communicate and exchange proper responses with real Japanese with a sense of smooth conversation. My teaching method varies depending on the student's level.
Are you struggling?
Perhaps you went to a Japanese language school, but when you saw Japanese anime or movies you still did not understand? Then you wondered WHY, didn't you! After all, you paid so much money for school!
Here is the answer: most of the school are not teaching true and complete Japanese! Yes, they are teaching proper Japanese very well. but it only works for some test like a JLPT or speaking at work.
The SECRET is that Japanese people do not speak proper Japanese all the time. They usually speak casual, informal Japanese when they are talking with friends and family, and there are gender differences in spoken Japanese!
Japanese movies and anime cartoons, manga, are mostly stories of friends and family, NOT stories of formal work.
That is why you need to know proper Japanese and casual, informal Japanese both! The Japanese culture and language have customs and orders which you must know and understand completely!
I teach both of these structures at the same time. You need to know when and how to change from proper verbs to casual, informal verbs, and then you will begin to understand the Japanese anime and movies!
I am very strong in teaching proper Japanese, including reading and writing Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. If you are only interested in JLPT Training (any level) or AP Japanese Language and Culture, we can certainly work with that.
However, I also teach business Japanese, word beautification, gender differences in spoken Japanese, proper and casual conversations, polite language, humble language, and respectful verbs. This is necessary for improving your personal and business relations!
I also teach Japanese slang along with many other aspects of the Japanese culture. Whatever you need or want to learn, I am here to assist you!
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, I can tutor you in private lessons at your computer. I am experienced with teaching all levels and all ages!
I give a fun, relaxed lesson and work to teach the precise and gentle true Japanese way in a friendly and open-minded one-on-one session or group lessons via Skype.
I believe you will find everything you need, because I am focused on providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction. I will do everything I can to meet your expectations, and with a variety of offerings to choose from, I am sure you will be happy working with me!
I also teach ORIGAMI (Japanese art of paper folding), Japanese Calligraphy, how to make SUSHI, and how to hold the Japanese Traditional Tea Ceremony, How to make healthy Japanese foods. I am able to give you information about J-POP and traditional Japanese songs as well. We can have fun with those, too.
If you would like to have a lesson once per week or twice per week, let's discuss the possibilities!
I do not usually set up a specific 10-hour or 20-hour plan, because it all depends on the student's level.
I then find the best speed for each student. At that point, if you want to stop at 10 hours, that is fine, and you can stop! Or, if you want to continue to do the class, you can continue. You may stop at 8, 15 or 30 sessions... whatever is best for you!
Do you want to speak Japanese for a few conversations... or do you want to speak Japanese fluently? Or perhaps you want to take a Japanese Language Proficiency Test or AP Japanese Language and Culture Test? That all depends on your achievement!
You can let me know if you want to continue or not anytime! Let's go from there!
If you have any questions about my tutoring, please feel free to contact me through TakeLessons.com.
Hope to see you soon, I look forward to lesson with you! :)
Have an awesome day and God Bless!

Toshi is teaching my 13 year old. It was evident during the first lesson that he was prepared and organized. He was also patient and kind and as a result my daughter is looking forward to his next lesson.

Hello from Seattle! I love teaching! For more than 40 years and I have been a professional photographer. I was the Team Photographer for the Washington Stealth pro indoor lacrosse team for three years, and teach photography at the Pacific Science Center, the Bellevue Club, The Leica Store, Glazer's Camera, Omega Photo and other locations. I have shot professionally since I was 15. My photos have been published in several magazines and I have three photos published in the New York Times. I was the mission photographer for the first private spaceflight
- Space Ship One, and the first ocean plastic cleanup system. I have experience shooting dozens of cameras from nearly every manufacturer. I often write camera, software and lens reviews for online sites. I am also a former employee of Apple in their advertising department.
I love teaching:
~ Photography 101, Basic Photography How To's ~ Learning How to Really Use Your Camera (Nikon, Canon, Sony, Leica, Panasonic, Olympus and more) ~ How to pick and use the right lenses for the task ~ Photos for your Online Store: Table Top Photography ~ Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop ~ Photo Processing, Editing, Storage ~ Basic Portrait Lighting ~ Travel Photography including making travel books ~ Black & White Photos from your Color Photos ~ Sports Photography ~ Printing Fine Art Photos ~ Color Management ~ Mac computer setup and optimization for photography
and other topics that may be of interest to you. I especially love doing a portfolio review with you where I give you honest critique and suggestions on how to improve your existing photos and think about elevating your new photos.
I like to start with new students by talking on the phone or emailing before our first lesson to get a good sense of your experience and your goals in getting more instruction in photography. I do not charge for this initial conversation once you have registered and scheduled your first lesson package.
Three of my students have gone from amateur to professional and are selling their work.
I am married (28 years!) and I have two boys - one in high school and one graduating college. I have several students in their early teens - I love teaching them because they're so motivated and unafraid of the technology.
We can do lessons together online using Zoom - we can see each other, hear each other, share screens and I can show you step by step how to do everything we cover! Zoom conferencing is free, there's nothing to buy, so it's included in my lesson prices. My students love our online sessions - we go at your pace and answer all the questions you have. My students range in age from 11 to 80.
I am most proud of this comment from one of my students: "There is a difference between teaching and mentoring. While the terms seem similar they are distinct in their approach to the recipient. Brad is innately both with the lessons I participated in. He is a teacher and a mentor.
He taught me but he also "brought me along". On one hand, he gave me excellent raw knowledge and technique but still, on the opposite side of the coin, gave constant reality-based feedback and pushed me without hurting my enthusiasm. He told me about his successes and shortcomings "once upon a time ago" and I didn't see him as infallible as many instructors want you to, I saw him as having lived a path, scouted it, and coming back to help show me the way. He didn't just tell me where I was going wrong, he showed me, then showed me how to correct it, then guided me through the process of correcting it, then followed up. Who could ask for more than that?
Brad is the total package when it comes to instruction. I am a better photographer for having studied with him. I am also making my dreams come true as a businessman. I owe most of that to him. I look forward to my next lessons, but honestly I more so look forward to what is behind the doors he will inevitably open up for me."
Hi there and thank you for considering me as your personal mentor in the world of digital artistry. A long time ago this world was just a hobby for me as well, and I hope to help you develop your skill set into something much more. I have over a decade of exposure to the rapidly-adapting professional photo and video world, with experience spanning from the smallest of freelance jobs all the way to mainstream feature film production and post. You can spend a lot of money in workshops or online training, but nothing comes close to the value of one-on-one personalized training. Because I enjoy teaching, I make an effort to keep rates affordable for the value of education given. If you're a photographer wanting to make your photos look like the pro photos you see online or a videographer looking to advance your work to the next level then wel
Very patient. We went through some technical issues that were a struggle for me and Jacob was very helpful and persistent in getting to solutions.
December 28, 2018
I had a great experience with Jacob as an instructor. He is knowledgeable and his advice was relevant and to the point. He invested time to critique my work and even sent detailed notes. Highly recommend!
December 12, 2016
I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Jacob. My husband gave them to me as a birthday present and it was tons of fun. Jacob was able to answer all of my nitty gritty questions, as well as general tips on improving my skills. The lessons were enjoyable and I learned tons. I've gone from shooting in complete auto mode, because I didn't know how to do anything different, to shooting in aperture priority mode with much better results. My Christmas portrait of my kids will be much better this year thanks to these lessons. If you're looking for an affordable way to improve this is a great option because you'll learn a lot in just a few one-on-one sessions. Jacob was also very flexible in working with me on the schedule for the lessons. Thanks Jacob!

Join me for interactive and engaging lessons that are specifically tailored to your needs.
Miss Anna is a right teacher for me. She helped me a lot to expand vocabulary
and improve my conversation skills.
July 22, 2019
Anna was helping my 11 year old improve his verbal skills while we were on vacation for 5 weeks in NYC. Instead of sitting in a class room the lessons were spent at different places in the city and Anna prepared interesting themes for every lesson that let my son both practice speaking a lot as well as hear many interesting stories of NYC. In addition to being a great teacher Anna is also an excellent guide.

I enjoyed my first lesson with Anna. She is a very good teacher. She understood my goals and structured the class in the right format. I look forward to having fluent conversations in Russian by the end of these sessions.
I’ve been painting with oils for almost three decades, and drawing for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a full time fine artist for over a decade now. I’ve been doing guest demos and teaching private and group lessons for many years, for various subject matter and age groups.
After graduating from Tyler School of Art at Temple University with a major in Painting, I had jobs making signs by hand, doing T-shirt designs, in a graphic design studio with clients like M&M Mars, Claritin and Revlon. As a freelance artist, I did logos, movie poster illustration, album art and packaging design, and I even scored and created sound effects for some short films. Yes, I play keyboard as well.
For my fine art, I’ve worked in many different mediums including watercolor, acrylics, digital, ceramics, sculpture, metal casting and photography, but pa
inting with oils and drawing are my most preferred ways of creating. I’ve painted and drawn many different kinds of subjects, but the figure is my favorite. I have worked from photo reference and from life (something right in front of me) as well as from my imagination; the range of styles that I have used have gone from photorealism all the way to cartoons. I am proficient in Photoshop, which I currently use often to create composite images as reference for my paintings. My paintings have been displayed in many shows across the country, and have sold internationally.
I am a communications designer, I graduated with a bachelors from Pratt Institute 2019. I went to the HighSchool of Fashion Industries 2010 - 2014 with a design garment shown on WWD Magazine my senior year. I have always been interested in different art forms, like drawing, painting, sewing, music, movies and videos, designing logos and posters, clothing. I especially love the process of designing because of where you start and where you end. The future can be quite exciting. Learning shouldn’t be a chore, it should be fun and exciting in creative ways.
My name is Anabel D., I am a professional photographer in Los Angeles, California. I photograph a variety of subjects, from pets to Grammy-nominated musicians, and everything in-between! I am well versed in studio photography and on-location outdoor work, and can help you learn to make the most of any location and subject matter.
Being self-taught, I believe that I have an entirely different approach to education; one that sits well with aspiring photographers, especially those that are disappointed in traditional (as in, college and university) photographic education. My teaching philosophy revolves around educating on the minimum and maximum capabilities of your gear and giving students all of the fundamental tools to create whatever image they have in their head (hence my lack of a photographic ‘niche’ in
my work. When your camera becomes an extension of your arm, your subject pool is limitless).
I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you, and making the experience fun, exciting, and inspiring. The possibilities are endless!
"My three boys (ages 11-15) loved working with Tori. We still have the block print-making pieces, paintings and charcoal drawings displayed in our kitchen
. Their favorite project was creating plaster casts of their own faces. Tori is very thoughtful, patient and has a great zen energy. I highly recommend Tori!"
"I've been Jessica's art student for more than a year and I'm still fascinated how much I have learned so far. I already make beautiful, colorful drawings
on my own, some of which I could even sell! I love her energy and mastery of teaching and doing art, but most of all her passion. I love the experience and I'm planning to keep on growing as artist myself with Jessica's guidance."
"Nick is patient, knowledgeable, and a great photography instructor. I've learned more from him in a couple of lessons than I've learned from a couple of b
ooks I've been using to try and learn on my own. Well-worth the time and cost for personal instruction. Highly recommend."
"Kai is a exceptionally talented painter and colleague who is familiar with the craft of traditional technique, especially in the art of Alla Prima. Anyone
who attends his class will be amazed by his atmosphere and enthusiasm in his art. If you wish to take a glance into the process of making traditional painting, Kai is the shoulder you should be looking over to."
"She is great! I have learned a lot and had so much fun with her. She refreshed my mind after 17 years of not touching any brush neither doing any sketch
ing.... I highly recommend her and can't wait for her upcoming classes in her own studio!"
"I really am enjoying my art lessons with Deron. Drawing is something I've wanted to learn for years. Deron is personable, patient, and quite knowledgable
in this realm. He's a talented artist! I feel like I gain new insights after every lesson."
"Megan is wonderful working with my teenage daughter. She is fun and entertaining and the perfect fit!"
"Mrs. Julie is great at making sure I feel comfortable with the information taught!"
"I worked with Margarita on a short film, ''Helena's Dream'' and her artistic skills and keen eye for details are awesome. She is an honest person and anyo
ne working with her will be happy with the results !"
