Good habits and an excellent attitude make great cellists. It doesn't hurt to love music too. I love music and I love to share my passion with my students.

Having a teacher who is an experienced performer is an important quality in a teacher. I am a professional classical musician currently working as a freelance cellist in the Chicago area. I play with Chicago Philharmonic, the Northbrook Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, among others. Before coming to Chicago I played for 13 seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

I have taught privately for over 10 years including 2 years in Paris. My teaching is a reflection of my teacher, Phillippe Muller. I studied with Msr. Muller while studying at the Paris Conservatory. Msr. Muller is currently a Professor of Cello at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

About Wei

Even though I have been teaching and performing on the cello for most of my life, it's not all there is to who I am. I am a chef (almost--12 weeks to go), a mom, a wife. I have a cute little Tibetan Terrier that loves visitors. My husband and I love hiking in beautiful places. Studying with me

Wei is a phenomenal teacher. I've had 5 lessons so far, and in that short time she's far exceeded my expectations. She's very good at both diagnosing problems and consistently providing a diversity of effective ways to overcome them. She has high expectations and always balances pushing me to be better with a lot of positive reinforcement; I'm never made to feel any pressure at all, but I still feel I can go very far in my cello playing with Wei's sage guidance.

I'm truly ecstatic to continue studying with Wei!

I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.
Have you hit a road block? I can help. Are you brand new and want to be sure you understand the instrument completely? I can help.

I have been teaching and coaching actors for over 20 years. My students work professionally on stage, TV and film. Within the first few lessons, you will understand how to create a character. I love tailoring lessons to my students! Music is personal and I want to make sure you're learning what you're interested in or need to learn in order to prepare you for auditions or keep up in groups you play in. I always ask students for a list of music they're listening to or want to learn - nothing's off limits!

While I prefer working out of Piano Adventures Method Books for piano students, I'm happy to work out of materials you already own.

About Stephanie

I started Suzuki violin lessons at the age of 3 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Music degree from UW-Milwaukee. In following years, I did post graduate work at Alverno College and went on to complete Suzuki teacher training in Suzuki Books 1-4. Besides teaching private violin, viola, and piano

"My 14 year old son had several lessons with Daniel and enjoyed them very much. Daniel is clearly passionate both about chess and teaching. His lessons are always planned in advance and you can request specific topic to be covered. He is very patient, and allows student time to think through moves and strategies. After the lesson, he gives you a 'homework' puzzle to solve, which was reviewed in the following lesson. Definitely recommend!"

6 Tips For Improving Your Chess Game

Back around 2014, I decided I was going to improve at chess. I watched a few videos online about some openings, played a few dozen blitz games online, and then promptly lost interest within a week. Four years later, I decided to pick it up again and in less than a year, I had gone from 1100 to 1900 Elo rating online. Obviously, I changed how I went about my improvement! So here are the steps that I took the second time around that got me to where I am now, and some ways you can improve your ches …
