Book NowDo you want to learn to draw your favorite characters, your pets, friends and family members? Or maybe you want to draw fantastical creatures with magical powers? Maybe you’re a medical student interested in drawing anatomy to help you study? Perhaps, you’re more interested in making intense abstract emotional drawings with deep philosophical meaning? Or, maybe you just want to learn to draw eyes and hands better? Whatever your area of focus or skill level, I will help you to sharpen your observational skills, expand your understanding of important art principles, become comfortable with a variety of drawing media, and teach you to translate your ideas onto the page to bring them to life. I believe art is an invaluable form of expression meant to bring the student peace, joy and a broadly applicable set of skills. My lessons are customized to the needs and goals of each individual student with subjects ranging from life art, to digital illustration, to mixed media drawing, and much ...

My expertise is helping students develop a deeper relationship with painting and drawing while encouraging a dialog with the history of art and contemporary art practices.
Over the past ten years, I have taught a variety of painting and drawing courses. Having taught Painting and Color at University of Illinois at Chicago for a year during my graduate studies, I honed my skills as an educator. Teaching at Massachusetts College of Art Summer Programs between my BFA and MFA gave me the experience and skills to develop my teaching skills. My class is challenging and engaging for all students.
About Monica
I'm an artist specializing in drawing and painting classes for young adults and adults. You'll receive personalized instruction from a classically trained artist. My mission is to give Students the skills to draw and paint realistically, and express themselves.

Book NowI am a certified teacher with a master's degree in Radio, TV, Film and one in education as well. I was an adjunct professor of photography at Manhattan's New School for Social Research for 10 years and have spent another 10 years teaching other adults as well as adolescents photography. I have conducted private lessons as well as workshops in my own studio.
My teaching is unique because, unlike many photography clubs where members voice their various opinions on photographs, my technique involves an objective approach where lessons are given each time that can be analyzed to see if requirements of the assignment were met. This way, the student learns not just through critiques, but by comparing his or her results to successful examples. I also do quite a bit of field work and teaching by example. It's the most effective way to learn. I get students putting their digital cameras on "MANUAL" right away and they master the concepts of correct exposure right off the bat.
About William
I have been doing commercial photography for over 40 years. I owned and operated a large studio on West 22nd Street in NYC for 20 of those years and I taught photography from 1988 to the present. I have never stopped. I like one-on-one sessions, but I have also conducted many workshops and classes

Many people think they can't draw. I used to be one of them. Now, I know that everyone can draw, they just need to learn how to translate what they see into an image. We will start with contour, move into gesture, create the illusion of 3D form using value and color, composition and even create the illusion of space. We will use a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, pastels (oil and chalk) and even use paint. It's really lots of fun!
