I completed my master's degree in vocal performance from the University of North Texas. I have been teaching over 15 years. I tailor instruction to your need. Baking is a hobby of mine. I will teach you a few organizational tricks regarding effective ways of laying out the ingredients ahead of time that expedite the mixing processes and make putting them together a smooth and enjoyable experience. I will reinforce the importance of keeping the wet and dry ingredients separate for as long as possible. I will also introduce some clever ways of dusting an oiled pan with flour before inserting the batter.

I've been a performing singer-songwriter since 1993. My influences include Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Richie Havens. I've been teaching private lessons since 2011.

We'll begin with major scales. That way, your fingers will get to know the notes that comprise the chords you'll eventually be learning. Eventually, you'll be able to play whole songs with both major and minor chords and play solos over them (also based on the scales).

I'm a primarily self-taught musician. The bulk of my knowledge came from listening to and imitating delta blues artists such as Robert Johnson and Mississippi John Hurt. Though you will have learned to play campfire standards in fewer than eight lessons, the blues (particularly the form originating from the Mississippi Delta) is the foundation of ALL A

merican music. The better you understand and are able to play it, the more options you will have created for yourself musically. I teach a variety of subjects ranging from oil, acrylic watercolor, drawing to cooking and baking even sourdough bread baking.

I have been teaching painting for over 10 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of acrylic, oil, watercolor and mixed media painting and created their own beautiful masterpieces in landscape, abstract, still life and other subjects! Within the first few lessons, you'll start understanding the elements of art such as light, shadows, perspective etc. and as time goes on, you'll be able to paint like a pro! I love working with students of all experience levels.

I also teach cooking from scratch with the best ingredients. Be it Asian, Mediterranean, Middle-Eastern cuisine; I teach them all and more. I even teach to bake bread with my own home-grown sourdough starter. So, please join me fo
r a fantastic session and learn some basics or other skills that only chefs know. Once we have cooked a delicious meal, we sit together and enjoy it over a glass of wine or whatever you like. As an option you may take home the remaining portions, usually enough for 3-5 days. But you don't have to. You only pay for the food you eat which is a fraction of a restaurant meal and yet much better.

Renata was simply amazing
She made a wonderful meal for us, all while sharing some great cooking tips and stories.
The Salmon was marinated/seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Rice, Kale Salad, and Fresh Bruschetta with French Bread were such a hit, everyone had clean plates by the end of the demo.
Renata came with everything that she needed to prepare the food and even set up/cleaned up everything with no interruption to the rest of our office.
The ones who didn’t participate couldn’t even tell what she had prepared, saying that they didn’t smell any after smell.
Once they learned that we ate Fish/Salmon… Complete Shock.. hehe
Renata is an amazing teacher who is very well versed in culinary arts, she knows many tips and tricks for creating wonderful, flavorful meals.. Thank you for everything, Renata!

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.

I am a professional Pastry Chef with 30 years in the business. I have worked in all sizes of bake shops, from the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, Burks of Santa Clara, and small bakeries.

My teaching experience spans 20 years. I have taught at the Art Institute in San Francisco, as well as the Cordon Bleu, also in San Francisco. Also, the Mission Valley ROP had me create a culinary program from scratch, as well as writing curriculum. I mention this to show that my teaching experience spans all ages.

I am available for private home (yours) lessons, party baking demonstrations/classes, and online instructions, and answering questions. Even if your in the middle of a project and not sure what happened.

About Stephanie
After 15 years working in high-tech I had enough of the constant stress, demanding work and long hours scrunched at my desk trying to solve other peoples issues. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next so I started taking classes in anything that sounded interesting. I took my first cooking class at the local community college and loved the way it made me feel. It wasn't until I took my first baking class in this degree program that I knew I was home. After graduating with a hospitality management degree, I transferred to Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island to earn a degree in Pastry Arts

My first job was with the Rhode Island Hospital. This hospital had received great recognition for the quality of food the kitchen produced. The director wanted to create a pastry program to expand the selections even more. Thus starte
d my career.

Coming back to the bay area, I wanted a more autonomous position, so I went into business for my self; first with a whole sale bakery which morphed into a catering business. I did this for 12 years, and loved it. All this time I was teaching community baking classes, adult education baking and pastry classes, and teaching part time at Mission College in Santa Clara.

I was then asked by Mission Valley ROP program to create a culinary/pastry program from scratch. It was a real challenge, but I found I really like challenges. From there I went to work for Whole Foods as a Pastry Chef.

After a few years of working for WFM I started teaching at the Art Institute in San Francisco. From there I went to Le Cordon Bleu, Also in San Francisco.

In the middle of all this I got married to a wonderful man.

The Cordon Bleu closed in September of 2016. Which brings me to the present. I am passionate about teaching baking and pastry, and hope to create a program which will allow students to understand baking, not to just follow recipes. My goal is to flame the creativity, and passion in my student, and fuel the desire to keep learning.
