Hi there! My name is Elizabeth and I run the blog at The Whistling Rooster Homestead. I have spent my life learning valuable skills to support my family and our interests and I hope this experience can help you in your journey to learning a new hobby!

I was 9 years old when my grandma taught me how to crochet - and I've been writing patterns and making custom creations ever since. With over 10,000 downloads of my published knitting patterns and a flawless five-star rating as an online instructor I'm sure I can find a solution to what ails your knitting OR crocheting.

Aside from the fiber arts I love to hike, dirtbike, snowboard, bake, and practice yoga. I'm a published author, accomplished musician, certified Master Gardener, and certified crochet and knitting instructor; but most importantly I am a full-time stay at home mom! Formerly an administrator in civil aviation, I dedicate my time to taking care of our homestead and obtaining continuing education in all things practical and enjoyable.

In this lesson we will cover the next stitch in your knitting "toolbox" - the purl stitch. The opposite, or reverse, of the knit stitch, this is the second step to  achieving different textures and fabrics in your projects.

Students must be very familiar with yarn and needles, casting on, and knit stitch.

Elizabeth provided clear and easy to follow instruction was able to understand and knit for the first time ever. Friends and family have tried to teach me in the past without any success but Elizabeth got me knitting and completing projects after the first lesson. I have continued to improve and learn new techniques with every lesson.

She took the time to explain things and had tons of patience.  She showed me techniques that made crocheting easier to manage and she was kind.

Elizabeth helped me a lot with a difficult (to me) pattern in just the first lesson. She is patient and clear in her instruction, obviously very knowledgeable in crochet.

Elizabeth is a wonderful teacher.  She is patient and pleasant, flexible and very knowledgeable.  After just the first lesson I was able to knit a basic scarf.  I highly recommend her for beginners, or even if you just want to brush up on your knitting skills!

I loved working with Elizabeth! I had just taught myself to crochet and was working on my first project when I was gifted lessons with Elizabeth. I found her to be very easy to talk with…she made me feel comfortable asking all of my questions.
