My Promise and Purpose: To Educate and Encourage
MichEal will show you how small rhythms turn into results on a drum set and apply to the music you enjoy ... Get ready to play a drum groove during your first lesson. Lessons teach the essential skills and are customized to the unique goals of the student.
Now is the time to try something new, maybe something you've dreamed of doing for a long time, no matter your age or experience.
Expect to be challenged and have some fun!
Many people want to play drums but they don't know where to start or what to practice, so I provide weekly lessons with a practice plan so you get better at the drums.
MichEal has been playing drums since 1988 and been a drum educator since 2009, and has a practical and patient approach to teaching drumming to his students; he shows how important techniques and exercises apply to the music his students enjoy, so that there is practical application in the real world of drumming and music. He is organized and detailed, but believes in flexibility and making learning and playing fun and creative.
Any genre, any song. Teaching for 20 years. I tailor each lesson to the needs/goals of every student.
For beginners, I can write easy versions of your favorite songs for you, while giving you a well balanced music education.
For more advanced players, I can show you how to play almost any drum part, and show you tips on how to figure out drum parts by ear and make your own.
Since I play other instruments, I can show you how to jam to anything and sound good while having a blast!
For children, I make lessons fun and varied with learning and musical games to keep them excited and engaged.
For everyone, I can teach you the most efficient ways to learn any musical skill based on experience and leading scientific books on learning, while keeping lessons fun!
As a musician who was raised on classical piano but has also spent his life playing in bands, jamming, and composing in several genres, I believe that a well-rounded musical education is not only practical, but that it brings out the most enjoyment in music.
I also believe in teaching students whatever they love whether it's classical, rock, pop, jazz, world music, or a mix of everything! The more they love it, the more they will practice, and in turn the more they will love how they have improved - a circle of awesomeness!

I have been teaching drum set lessons for about 3 years. My students can expect to learn a variety of styles and genres on the drum set, everything from jazz, pop, rock, etc. My goal is to better my students in the areas that they are interested in and also introduce them to new styles and genres that they might enjoy. I generally teach from books with authors like Peter Erskine, John Riley, John Bailey, and many more! As a player, I specialize in jazz and pop, but am experienced in others too.

Some students are more serious about the drums than others and that's totally fine! My lessons are designed to work with the student, establish goals, and accomplish those goals. Some of those goals could be learning a song, a rudiment, or a type of coordination like a "beat." As long as the student is having fun and learning about music there will be progress.
The drums are the backbone of most music, so you have to be able to feel the groove and stay tight and on top of the beat. I encourage students to pick their favorite songs, and we drum to those while learning proper technique, rudiments, song form, fills, rhythm, different grooves / beats, and anything they want to know about the drums. I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years and have a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music. Drums is a beautiful art and form of expression and is just the tip of the iceberg we can tackle called Music.
I think music is the most beautiful thing in the world, so lets take time to learn and play music together.
I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years, and been in over fifteen bands in the course of that time. I have a degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music were I studied music theory and focused on Music Production and Engineering. I have been playing Piano, Bass, and Guitar for about ten years in addition to the drums, and have been recorded in sessions on each. I have a deep passion for synthesizers and electronic music, so lets make some bleeps and bloops together.
I am extremely kind, friendly, and funny so lessons with me are very relaxed and have an easy to learn environment. However I am very passionate about teaching to fit student needs; so if a student likes deadlines and homework, if that is w

Experienced teacher and musician, great with beginners and intermediate students and happy to teach all levels! I've been playing the drums for almost 20 years, and have been playing professionally for much of the last 10 years. I always aim to keep a healthy focus on both the technical element of learning the drums, and the all-important musical element of playing with other musicians in a group. I generally spend about half the lesson focusing on technique, and the other half on songs picked by the student for us to work on. Please feel free to send me a message if you'd like to start taking lessons!
This is exactly what I bring to my drum lessons: a strong footing in the technical side of playing, and an unwavering devotion to developing musicianship that always serves the music and the song. I will help you develop life-long habits of playing and practicing that will help you grow with your experience (and prevent injury!), and simultaneously develop an ear for music while learning to play songs. I always encourage my stud
For intermediate and advanced students, I bring my experience as a working studio and live drummer to lessons. We focus on musicianship in the context of a band, listening, timbre, groove, timekeeping, confidence, and the intangibles of what it takes to be an effective band member (and an employable drummer!).
In addition to countless hours spent in middle and high school banging away on the drums in my parents' basement, I studied jazz in college, and since then have taken lessons with Scott Amendola to supplement my experience playing.
Please feel free to send me a message if you'd like to start lessons! I'm available to teach in students' homes in Los Angeles, or teach lessons online.

In our lessons we will learn the fundamentals in a fun way, while learning the songs that inspired us to learn the instrument in the first place. Emphasis will be given on feel, time and song structure.
Hello friends! I'm a senior at the USC Thornton School of Music. My focus is drumset performance, but I also teach beginner piano and guitar. I have been drumming for 17 years and am currently gigging frequently with pop and rock acts. I also will occasionally be touring this year, so online lessons are preferred so that we can continue your instruction while I'm on the road! Please feel free to hit me with any questions before we start lessons!
I have toured with several bands on drums and love getting behind the kit every chance I get! It's never to soon or too late to start hitting them and making some noise!
