Latin with Sarah K.

Hi, my name is Sarah. I have been a full-time math tutor for more than two years now, so I have plenty of experience working with students at a variety of skill levels. Primarily, I work with college students in algebra and statistics, but I am certainly not limited to those subjects. Very often, reviewing the basics makes the biggest difference. I work with all my students to assess precisely what skills should improve to better their success. Despite my current focus on mathematics, I graduated with an English degree from the University of Florida. My areas of study included film and media studies and art history. I also have professional experience in journalism. Through that training, I have fine-tuned my own grammar and composition skills. With that said, I can help students succeed in most English courses. Whether you're composing an essay on Walt Whitman, or just working on your spelling, I can help. I am also more than happy to work with students who are learning English as a new language. My third language, after math and English, is Latin. I completed two years of AP Latin in high school and have experience tutoring students at the introductory level. Of course, my knowledge of grammar helps in instructing this subject. For English speakers, learning Latin is a great way to improve your vocabulary. I am willing to travel to a student's location of choice, provided that it's not terribly far away from my own location in north Tampa. As always, rates are negotiable depending on the situation. I am open to students of all ages, but I am accustomed to working with older students (12 and up). I have a lot of experience with older students who are returning to school.
