Hi! I am a soloist, chamber music artist, and music teacher based in Las Vegas, and I currently have openings in my studio for private music students! I would love to share my love of music with you.
I have over fifteen years of experience teaching piano and harp lessons to students of all ages and levels. As a doctoral candidate at Indiana University, I have the background and capability to teach beginning to advanced students. With a doctoral minor field in music theory, I provide my students with a thorough understanding of how music actually works.
I have earned national recognition as a winner of several major music competitions, including the American Harp Society Young Professional Competition, the Anne Adams Awards, and the National Federation of Music Clubs Competition. I have also been a strong competitor in several international harp competitions. I have performed throughout the US, including at Carnegie Hall, as well as at the World Harp Congresses in Geneva and Dublin.
I have been privileged to study with wonderful, internationally respected teachers. I enjoy sharing my love of music with my students. I encourage all my students to play their best and to learn pieces that they enjoy and that challenge them, while keeping the experience fun and nurturing.
I believe that no matter what someone's goals are in playing music, learning to play an instrument teaches important life skills. Among those skills are discipline; efficiency in completing a task (or practicing a particular piece); developing strategies to approach large projects, such as a paper or a large musical work; and how to stick with something, even if it is difficult. In that vein, one of my foremost priorities as a teacher is to help my students learn to teach themselves. I seeks a balance between challenging my students and cultivating a sense of camaraderie and playful exploration.

For beginning piano students, I use the Faber method.
Lessons typically include music theory. Students will be given clear assignments to practice and complete.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to get to know me and the services I provide! As a private tutor I specialize in the academic areas of English, writing, and speech. Whether you're young one has a hunger for reading at an early age, or is struggling and needs a more creative method of learning, I have successfully helped children gain confidence and understanding, as well as begin to master (or further) themselves.
I also provide my services as a health and wellness instructor. This service best fits those either looking for a coach to aid in the desire to improve a youth's health from a physical and nutritional standpoint, or, for those needing a coach to help train youth in their agility, endurance and strength for the sake of pursuing athletics.
A little about how I found my passion to teach:
While in grade school, I struggled greatly to understand and "keep up" in class. After much searching, I was diagnosed with a learning disability. Over the years I noticed a need to learn in more creative, out-of-the-box methods. Once I began to learn my brain was not incapable but simply needed more than your usual flashcards-approach, I was able to excel using new methods of learning. This now means that how I teach is generally a much more creative, exciting, and stimulating approach. After working with kids throughout high school, I worked in a variety of settings with youth as young as toddlers. In 2010 I spent several months teaching young families in India, and then returned to the States to become a classroom aid and PE/Sports Instructor. In the past four years I have mentored, tutored, and run a youth program for Jr. High students through young adults. More recently I taught Health and Wellness from a whole body perspective to kids 6 and up, aiding many youth with physical limitations as well as special needs and learning disabilities. My passion, simply put, is to help kids see themselves as capable of more.
