About Anna
My name is Anna Arata and I would love to be your new voice teacher! I am a professional singer, songwriter, and recording artist here in Nashville.

I started studying the voice when I was 11 years old. This included taking private voice lessons (classical primarily) and participating in several musical theater shows, a middle school jazz choir, and was a member of the Boston Children’s Choir. Through high school and part of college, I participated in musicals, co-lead a girl’s a capella group, performed in a show choirs, and was selected for the All States choir in Massachusetts in 2010. On college breaks, I also volunteered as a teaching assistant (TA) for my former middle school jazz choir. In May 2015, I graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelor of Music, specifically in Commercial Voice. Through my music studies, I have
taken several music theory classes, which have contributed to my ability to analyze music in a technical way. Until now, I have accumulated over 10 years of voice lessons for myself, ranging from classical/opera studies to commercial styles.

Since moving to Nashville in 2012, I have worked consistently as a freelance musician, as well on and off as a teacher. While in college, I started and managed my own swing band, specializing in 30’s-40’s jazz. In our time, we were a part of several radio shows (including Music City Roots), opened for large acts, recorded EP’s and records, and organized tours in the greater Midwest area. Post college and disbanding, I have had many performance-based professional singing opportunities. For the past two years, I have served as the lead singer for the Grand Hotel Orchestra on Mackinac Island, MI. There, I was contracted for two 2.5 month stays during which I performed a variety of jazz and pop classics 7 nights a week. In Nashville, I have successfully gathered my own jazz band. I am a regular performer at Rudy’s Jazz Room in the heart of Nashville. I am capable of leading my own groups and all of the organizing that entails – creating charts/books, calling players, leading rehearsals.

I currently work part time at a non-profit music school. There, I have private voice students, as well as two classes teaching composition and music theory.

Carolyn German has been absolutely wonderful to work with. She's a great combination of friendly, yet professional, and brings many years of varied experience to her craft into the teaching experience. She's very easy to work with, I never felt self-conscious about any of what I consider to be my flaws, and she has truly helped me to develop more well-rounded characters, as well as some very much needed self-confidence.

When you come to a lesson at my studio you will experience a voice lesson with me like you would in no other environment. This will feel like an investment in yourself to learn but also to relax and enjoy in the luxury of breathing and singing. When you enter you will feel like you entered a spa with aromatherapy and water infusions. We'll start our vocal practice on yoga mats and open up our bodies before deep breathing pranayama exercises, relaxing vocal warm-ups, ear-training and finally repertoire and artistry. Here you'll not only learn the tools and foundations of good singing but also release stress in the mind and body. I believe singing is for everyone, not just career vocalists, and that vocal lessons can be therapeutic and be helpful in living a balanced lifestyle. Release your inner wild, your personal sound, your voice that r
esonates throughout the universe with me at The Inner Wild Voice Studio.

Kristina holds a BFA from the Boston Conservatory in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in Stage Direction. She has performed as a jazz and contemporary music vocalist in numerous professional bands for the past nine years upon her graduation from the conservatory. Her personal teaching style is relaxed and infuses yoga and Alexander technique to ensure the best results in her students. She loves working with beginners and is the perfect candidate for those with interests in jazz, r&b, rock and pop vocal styles. Her lessons for students with non-professional interests can be used for mind, body and soul therapy.

About Charles
I am a working professional actor (proud member of both SAG-AFTRA and Actor's Equity Association). I've worked on some of Television's biggest shows including: BIG LITTLE LIES (HBO) as the character Agent Nelson (opposite Golden Globe winner, Laura Dern). I've also landed recurring roles in Grey's Anatomy (ABC) and General Hospital (ABC). Other highlighted (of my many) TV credits include: True Detective (HBO), Jane the Virgin (CW), Criminal Minds (CBS), Veronica Mars (HULU), Scandal (ABC), and the hit multi-cam series, FAM (CBS). I'll be seen in the upcoming Feature Film BUTTER starring Oscar winner, Mira Sorvino as well as 2 soon-to-be released Netflix series, Unbelievable and Medical Police. I've also done several National commercials for the likes of: Honda, Toyota, and McDonald's.

I received my classical training from UC Irvine and
have performed with some of Los Angeles' most renowned theater companies and stage directors including: the Actors Co-Op, Company of Angels, and stage director, Don B. Welch. Other regional highlights include working with one of Connecticut's renowned Equity theatre companies (Connecticut Free Shakespeare) in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Much Ado About Nothing (respectively as Oberon and Don John).

COACH: My teaching career began as a credentialed 5th grade teacher in Los Angeles, CA prior to starting my professional acting career. I started officially teaching acting classes (and tutoring) in 2009 - mainly all over Los Angeles and the Valley - most notably with the non-profit, City Hearts: Kids Say Yes to the Arts. My elementary aged, inner-city acting students performed for the likes of agents at William Morris Endeavor, Glee star Max Adler (FOX), Empire star Grace Byers (FOX), and placed 1st and 2nd place at the annual Shakespeare Challenge in Topanga, CA for my entire tenure of 8 consecutive years. I've also taught acting workshops internationally for high schoolers at Gyeonggi Suwon International School in Suwon, South Korea. My current private coaching clients range from professional actors to younger actors seeking to better understand the craft of acting, preparing for school play auditions and productions, etc.

I love to give my students PRACTICAL tools to have a better sense of scene and character analysis, audition preparation, and perhaps just as or more important, tools to have a health and confident mindset as they approach any and everything dealing with acting.

Knowing Charles delivers excellent quality lessons, with real world acting experience my school flew him overseas to work with our students. He was amazing and supporting and challenged our students to break our of their shells, and discover the joy of acting. His time with the students was invaluable and forever changed the groups view towards acting- acting became a passion for our students as they broke out of their shells and engaged in the art of improve and connecting with authentic emotion. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

I really love working with Charles. He makes acting very practical and challenges me to look at scenes and how I break them down in a different way. My preparation for auditions has improved so much given his guidance. HIGHLY recommend it!

Charles' acting program taught me professionalism and the meticulousness that are essential to have in my acting career. He propelled me to become a better artist as I spent engaging and personal time with him in and outside of class. He really cares about his students and he will do anything to make his students feel comfortable and most importantly, learn more about acting.
