About Bulent
Officially recognized both by the Massachusetts State Senate and the former Boston mayor Thomas Menino, and described by critics as a firm, musically and dramatically outstanding bass-baritone, Bulent G. is an award-winning, multi-instrumentalist singer, voice teacher, coach, educator, and a member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing).

Teaching in studio and online nationwide, and using the simple, direct and effective methodology he developed, he specializes in helping students of all ages and experience levels discover and express their natural voice, which they can apply to any musical style. His students come from diverse backgrounds such as classical, opera, musical theater, jazz, pop, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, country, rock, heavy metal and public speaking.

Bulent Guneralp keeps his teaching rates down in or
der to make his studio accessible for students from all walks of life, and not only for a privileged few who can afford sometimes extremely high rates of world-class vocal training.

~~~~~
"... just in one lesson I vocalized to high C with the knowledge he gave me. I actually, for the first time, knew how I did it. It was incredible. I was so happy that for the first time in years of voice training in upstate New York, 10 years in Manhattan, New York City, studying with teachers who sang at New York City Opera and the Metropolitan Opera, and not one of them, was able to teach me what Bulent taught me in one lesson..."
Fausto Di Ianne
~~~~~

"Over the past 6 years, I have performed more than 600 concerts worldwide. Bulent helped me to lay the groundwork for a voice that is well-prepared to take on the rigors of the road as well as the discipline to expect the best out of myself each night. From warming up and warming down, to lifestyle and technique, Bulent's instruction has encouraged, motivated, and prepared me to maximize my singing career."

Jon Ricci, lead singer, Lansdowne

~~~~~
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from Bulent. I have no prior experience in music and decided to take voice coaching lessons so I can begin singing in my church. Bulent clearly has a vast knowledge of music and patiently taught me the fundamentals which I found very valuable for a beginner like me. I learned so much from the first lesson and was so motivated I immediately signed up for weekly sessions. Despite his many accomplishments and impressive music career, Bulent was down to earth, patient and friendly which made for a session where I felt more comfortable and more receptive to learn. I am very excited and optimistic to see how my voice improves over time!"
"Amazing! Simply amazing! I've taken lessons before, but none have ever stood out as much as this first one. Over the last 2 years I've built up bad habits that have left my voice strained after singing just one song, but with Bulent's guidance and knowledge, I was able to immediately feel the difference in my vocal stamina and range. Furthermore, Bulent emphasized the importance of proper breath control with simple but effective techniques - something that I essentially lacked. It was overall a wonderful experience!! Can't wait for the next one!" - Nestor C
I'm a retired senior who loves music, especially classical. I always wanted to learn to sing, but thought I didn't have much talent. I wanted to find a voice teacher who teaches wholeheartedly, and who can work on a varied repertoire ranging from opera to pop. After I met Bulent and took his introductory lesson, I'm very glad to say that I found my teacher!
Bulent is very friendly. The introductory lesson is very comprehensive, and covers all the fundamentals in detail. His teaching method is very well-designed and complete. The first lesson had a very positive influence on me, and gave me lots of confidence. Just in one hour, I started to see the improvement in my voice and singing, and I realized that the progress will continue. I started to believe in my ability, and take my voice seriously. Only a true teacher can have this kind of an impact on a student.
I like the cozy studio too. It's a very musical environment, surrounded by instruments, and full of energy. I'm very excited and looking forward!"
Starting lessons can be an intimidating process for sure. Who's my teacher going to be? What will they have me do? What if I can't do what they teach me? How much lesson material am I going to have to keep up with each and every week?
My lessons are set up to suit everyone's needs and skill levels. We put you at ease from the first lesson and will build a program that fits your interests and will inspire you to want to learn more! My students make constant progress and have a lot of fun while doing it. I am very excited for what the future holds and will continue to inspire them to do great things. Many have moved on to become successful musicians and now have something they can enjoy for their lifetime. It gives me great pride and motivation to see the smiles and positive effect it has on each student and their families as they progre
ss and successfully perform throughout the years.
I wish I was able to give James more stars. I took lessons from him since late middle school up until I graaduated high school. I actually switched over from another teacher, and I'm glad I did, otherwise I wouldn't have continued playing. Even though I don't play anymore, I can say that James was able to help me so much not only with the drumming basics, but with the percussion music I had all through high school. He's able to simplify the music, and he is one of the most patient people I know. He will continue to work on something with you until you get it no matter how long it takes. During lessons, James is also able to break it up with his sense of humor and just by making conversation with you. He does this to build a connection with his students and also to get a few laughs out of you. I remember many times when I was on the floor laughing at something he said, while still getting through the lesson material. It was an honor and a pleasure to take lessons from James, and now we are very good friends. He really is the best teacher in the business.
My son does hybrid in person and online lessons with Darren. Darren is very enthusiastic, encouraging and articulate. After every lesson, my son is energized. For the first time, he advanced to state level after intensive lessons with Darren. Darren also teaches HOW to practice and clearly points out what he needs to do so my son can focus his practice. Highly recommend him.
About Christien
Hi! I have a degree in Early Music Voice from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and have studied voice with private teachers intermittently over the past two decades.
I also have a Master's in Cello Performance, and can teach cello at the beginner to upper intermediate level. My experience in teaching is with modern (standard) cello, but I can also teach the basics of baroque cello (with gut strings and a baroque bow). Gut strings can be finicky, but their sound is warm and expressive. If you are interested to know more, just drop me a note! Another instrument I can teach is the Viola da Gamba, a very interesting early 6- or 7-string instrument with gut strings. (That's the instrument I'm holding in my profile picture!)
Aside from music, I have taught English as a Foreign and Second Language (in Bulgaria with Peace Corps,
in New Mexico with Berlitz, at the U. of New Mexico). I would be very pleased to help students of any age with reading, listening comprehension, and writing.
We saw Neguine's profile and my daughter thought she would be a great fit. We were looking for new guitar teacher and were hoping to find a female one. Neguine's profile fit perfectly except one thing, location. The distance was not ideal but we thought we would give it a try and we have been happy that we did. Doing a later time in the evening helped with the drive and my daughter feels that Neguine will be a great teacher. Her background in music and interest in song writing were added bonuses for us. She has already been more helpful that our past instructor. She was quick to note that the strings on my daughter's guitar were not right for her and suggested a restringing that has made it much easier for my daughter to play. We have been very happy with the lessons. My daughter is 16 and has had lessons in the past but is still very new to the guitar. Neguine has been very supporting and encouraging. My daughter likes her.
How Often Should You Tune a Piano?
Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life. You may notice, especially if you have a keen ear or a tendency to sing along with your practice, that your piano drops in pitch, particularly during the summer and winter months. This is because your piano is mostly made of wood, and your wooden soundboard will contract when the weather is drier -- or the heating is on! -- and cause the pitch of the strings to drop. While k
