David H.

Portland, OR

About David

I've studied music at Portland State University, and am well dug into the Portland music scene. I teach you how to turn basic chords and strumming patterns into your own musical ideas, as well as learning your favorite songs. I have experience teaching students how to play most any song in front of family and friends, or with others. Students will get real music theory training as well as advanced guitar techniques. I usually teach students to sing and play the songs in order to help students work on melody and chord structure at the same time. *** Lesson Details *** I'm pretty laid back, but I definitely know the value of hard work. We just keep working it until we get it right. We work until we're happy with it. We use handouts as well as books tailored to your learning style. ...

Nick D.

Tualatin, OR

About Nick

***About Me*** Music is almost more than a passion for me, it's how I hear the world! That guy singing the harmony to the crosswalk jingle? That's me. Though my love for music began long before I ever picked up an instrument, I began taking guitar lessons at age 10. By age 12 I was writing music and by 13 I played my music at my first talent show with my band. In high school I started studying piano and voice, and performed with the Guitar Program, Jazz Ensemble and Men's Choir. I played solo and with multiple bands, playing rock, acoustic, jazz, rock, metal and classical guitar. After High School I spent a year studying music at University of Oregon. Though I enjoyed my time at U of O, I left the next year and moved to Boston to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, ...

My 9 year old told me Nick is the best piano teacher ever. He loves going to his lessons and is progressing nicely I think. When my son goes off on a tangent or wants to talk about the billion things going on in his head at the moment, Nick is super patient and gently steers him back on track.

Great teacher, awesome advice!

Artem is great! After our first lesson I feel like I came away with a lot of advice and feedback I hadn't received from previous teachers. Artem is very professional and directed me towards a lot of helpful resources to further my playing.

I am still taking classes with him and hope to continue doing so. He is very helpful and makes me inspired to practice and play!

Tim B.

Newberg, OR

About Tim

I love to help anyone who has been told they're not able to play guitar, has quit out of frustration, or been told they're too old or too young to play. *** Lesson Details *** Each lesson is customized to your learning style and different for everyone depending on what you want to learn. Most of my students like to learn from scratch which would include the following: In the first 3 lessons you will learn basic guitar fundamentals, basic 1-4-5 song progressions (the stuff that 85% of all music we listen to is made up of), left hand / right hand coordination, picking techniques, how to strum, mute, & play notes on the guitar. We can play as a band too. When you are ready, I love to bring out the drum or backing tracks to your favorite artists songs while you play guitar and I play ...

Ace professional with first class treatment

Tim is a phenomenal instructor! I have tried expensive videos subscription services and have spent hundreds of dollars on Skype lessons with popular YouTube instructors. In the year that I have been playing, one month of lessons with Tim did more for my playing than 11 months with the other methods I've tried. You owe it to yourself to give Tim a month of your time. He transformed my understanding of the guitar, has taught me to be self-sufficient with learning songs I hear, and has made playing exciting. Without being able to articulate exactly what I wanted to accomplish, Tim's uncanny intuition for balancing what I think I needed with what I really need took my playing to the next level very quickly. Nothing can substitute the depth of his musical knowledge, but more importantly, his keen sense of feeding me just what I need from everything he knows. Tim carefully plans out a lesson for me based off of my progress, has me take notes, and gives me ideas on how to improve before my next lesson. The most exciting day of my week is the hour I spend learning from a great instructor and a great human being. I couldn't be happier with my decision to learn how to play from Tim.

He made learning fun & easy.

Great guy, great teacher. Took the time and focused on me during the entire lesson. Geared the lessons specifically for me and my interests and tastes in music. Took a personal interest in me as a person and encouraged me to practice and to explore all the different things I could do with my talent. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Very reasonably priced for all that you get out of the lessons.

My son learned how to effectively play in a band

My son has been taking guitar lessons from Tim for over a year now. I have been very pleased with the progress my son is making. Tim makes my son feel very comfortable, and is more than willing to work with him in any area where he shows an interest. Tim is personable and patient.

Tim is quite flexible with time. He has kindly worked around our schedule whenever necessary. His fees are quite reasonable, and he always errs in our favor in regard to time.

Tim is a great guitar player himself with a true love for the instrument, which shows in his teaching. He was invaluable in helping us pick a reasonably priced, yet quality guitar for our son.

He has taught our son any song my son hears on the radio note for note a real gem.We are quite pleased with Tim's teaching, and highly recommend him.
