About Ree
Hey there!

As a Vocal Coach and Performance Coach, I am thrilled to help my students find freedom to sing in their own style, while staying healthy with good technique.

I specialize in working with beginner and intermediate Adults and Teens, teaching healthy technique, performance and confidence. Singing is a vulnerable thing, so it's very important for me to create a sense of safety for every student to feel comfortable enough to begin to explore their voice and self-expression. As a singer songwriter myself, I've battled with stage fright and know the frustrations it brings. That personal experience along with my work with abuse survivors, has given me a special sensitivity and understanding of the emotional needs of my students, enabling me to help them work through their roadblocks in life.

I have studied under some fabulo
us coaches over the last 20 years, who have taught Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber, Natasha Bedingfield, Hayley Williams and more. All of this I bring to my students with passion and confidence, knowing that they can truly achieve their goals!

Are you ready to get started on finding freedom in your voice? I'm here to help and am rooting for you!

Ree is an amazing instructor for my 7 year old daughter!! She has been working on her breathing techniques, vocal exercises and practicing her favorite song from Frozen! My daughter can't get enough and the lesson time flies by. Ree developed an instant rapport and is excellent at teaching to such a young (easily distracted) girl! Thank you Ree!!

Best Teacher Ever!

Ree has not only taught me how to control my vocals and different practice routines but she has taught me to believe in myself and learn that you can do anything you set your mind to. I never knew my voice could do so many things until she taught me to experiment. She is super nice and down to earth. I know i don't have to feel judged or shy around her. She is patient and very knowledgeable! I definitely recommend her to anyone!

About Nicolas
Hello there!

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Miami, FL. I started my musical career at the age of 8, singing in chorus, playing the recorder, and shortly afterwards moving to the guitar, and the violin.

When I was 15, I was nominated for a James L. Knight Award in Music, and I performed as a violin soloist with the Miami Beach Symphony Orchestra, and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony playing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major. One of my most memorable experiences when I was a kid! In high school, I formed my own string quartet and we would perform all over the South Florida community especially at hospitals and for the elderly. At 16 years old, I was also given an internship with the New World Symphony, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, for about 2 years. During this time, I was able to take lesso
ns from master violinists such as Marc Thayer and Glen Cherry. During this time, I was given the opportunity to perform with the New World Symphony at 17 years old for pops concert conducted and performed by Chuck Mangione in El Doral, FL.

I later on accepted a scholarship for violin performance at the University of Miami for my Bachelor of Music, and earned my Master of Music from Florida State University. I also taught string orchestras for 10 years at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, South Florida Youth Symphony as conductor (and now composer!), and conductor of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. I was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Alhambra Orchestra for two seasons under the guidance of my high school orchestra teacher, Mr. Reginald Nicholson (1947-2011). It was here where I was able to work on my compositions, orchestrations, and conduct a fine group of musicians.

I now live in sunny Los Angeles, in the Sherman Oaks area, and I'm loving the new change. I am eager to share my knowledge with new students on various subjects such as learning a string instrument to learning a different language. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your goals for learning!

LESSON DETAILS
I have been teaching music as an adult, certified teacher since I was in college, but have done teaching as early as 15 years old.

I will help you create a fantastic technical base so you will be able to play with ease as your skill level develops, all while keeping the lessons fun and engaging.

MUSIC STUDIO
Piano, Violin, Guitar, Music Stand, General Teaching Aids, Recording Equipment.

TRAVEL EQUIPMENT
I can provide a music stand and basic materials but the student is expected to have their own instruments and to buy the music I recommend. I can recommend various vendors/shops where you can buy the ideal instrument for your lessons.

EXPERTISE
I am classically-trained musician that also specializes in Tango performance, Latin/Jazz, Rock, and a variety of other styles. I believe that training in the classical aesthetic will create a firm, solid foundation to crossover into other areas listed above. With a good dose of technical exercises, scales, and a variety of repertoire, my students always turn out well-rounded, ready to tackle almost any kind of music they wish to learn.

Thank you for stopping by and let me know what you would like to learn!

I have to admit, starting violin lessons as an adult is really weird, but it's something I've always wanted to try. I tried another teacher on here and she was a bit impatient and short with me (how does she teach children??!), so I tried Nick due to his location from my home. He's been fantastic! He's a great combo of being patient, caring, and encouraging, but also stern enough to get me to do what I need to get better. I'm sure it's not easy working with an adult that can "talk back" haha. He clearly knows what he's doing and he helps motivate me to keep learning. And he's very understanding when I run a tad late sometimes. I imagine he'd be great with kids too if he's great with a difficult adult like me.

We've had our daughters learning violin for several years in a number of cities (Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm and now Los Angeles). Nicks ranks among the best instructors we have had. From our experience, it is clear that he is a highly talented musician with strong leadership experience. He has high expectations but importantly, he combines this with patience and empathy which is perfect for working with our youngest who is an intermediate beginner as well as our oldest who is a bit more advanced and has been been playing in an orchestra for a number of years. We highly recommend Nick as an instructor for students of all ages and skill levels.

Nick taught orchestra at my child's school and was across the board disliked. He was sarcastic, condescending, and unfriendly in manner. Communicating with him was very unpleasant. So much so that the administration had to step in. Two years of him was enough to sour my child on the violin.

I received my BM and MM from Eastman School of Music with academic Distinction and a degrees in Violin Performance and Literature. Additionally, I studied at the Impuls Akademie in Graz, Austria and at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany.

As I live on the Upper East Side, scheduling/travel is flexible for me and easy to coordinate around my students' schedules. If there is a preferred lesson for your child not listed as "available" please feel free to inquire directly - we will find a time tha
t works!

*** Lesson Details ***

I have experience teaching students ages four through late 60’s, levels Pre-K through collegiate level. During my years of teaching, I have encountered and successfully instructed students of a wide variety of learning styles. From these experiences I have become adept at adapting my teaching methods on-the-spot in order to patiently, enthusiastically, and creatively introduce and reinforce concepts in a manner tailored to each student. In addition to equipping my students with proper violin technique and nurturing their musical integrity, my commitments as a teacher are to empower and assist my students in developing their communication skills and confidence, instill a lasting curiosity for learning, and foster a genuine love for the imaginative and expressive capabilities of music.

All of my students learn how to read music from the beginning of their playing. For addressing technique with young kids, I use fun pneumonic devices such as "pizza box hand," "flamingo arm," and "umbrella fingers," to help my students remember, identify, and visualize proper hand, arm, and finger placement. We practice note names and rhythm through singing and memorization games. With these activities, students practice at home on their own and advance weekly between lessons while developing a love for playing the violin.

Whether your child is a preparing for an audition for school, college, conservatory, a competition, or a complete beginner, I'll personalize lessons based on your/your child's specific goals and needs. I also accept adult students interested in picking up a new, rewarding hobby, or looking to improve their technique to join a community orchestra.

Please contact TakeLessons to hear more about my teaching philosophy!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music Stand, lesson materials, rhythm flashcards, stickers, colored pencils

*** Specialties ***
I teach students how to read music and rhythms with quick effectiveness! This enables students to be independent during their weekly practicing and supplements their weekly progress.

Lauren is an excellent teacher for adult students!

At the age of 54 I decided to purchase a violin and learn to play. I found Lauren Cauley through Takelessons.com and could not be more pleased with her!! She has taught me so much in my first four weeks. She's patient with me and encourages me when I get discouraged with my play. She is quick to answer the numerous questions I have. She is an extremely talented musician with a talent for teaching. She pushes me in my weekly assignments and ensures I've mastered one level before we move to the next. Thanks Lauren!!

I studied viola at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and moved to Portland three years ago to pursue performance and teaching opportunities. Since then I have performed with Classical Revolution PDX, Cascadia Composers and ARCO PDX and am a member of Macaulay Balkan.

My initial studies were on violin using the Suzuki method, which has greatly influenced my teaching approach. However, I am dedicated to customizing the lesson time and structure to the needs and priorities of my students.

*** Specialties ***
Very few "viola teachers" play viola as their primary instrument. As a full-time violist, I can help you learn how to play this idiosyncratic instrument from my own experience.

He's my first teacher - I have never learned singing elsewhere before. He says I learn fast, but the truth is that he knows how to give the best exercises and advice to make the student realise one's full potential. Practising while following the advice he pointed out during the lesson, I suddenly found myself near 3-octave range within the first couple of lessons, and now we are working on rounding the tone and make it into a beautiful singing voice. On top of it, he's also very funny and approachable.
