I am an active performer and teacher of bassoon, and am still an active learner on my instrument. Lessons with me are fun, engaging, and informative on this unique and often difficult instrument. I strive for my students to love the bassoon and enjoy working on their craft, whether a beginning band student or an aspiring professional. I earned my Bachelors of Music in Bassoon Performance from Sacramento State University and am currently earning my Masters of Music in Bassoon Performance at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. I also can help with reed making and adjusting, I make all of my own reeds and have for years.

About Jack

Jack Fanning has been teaching the bassoon since 2015. He is currently available to teach lessons online, or at the student’s home (and is ready and willing to travel within the NC Triad area). Our daughter was amazed and in "Ah" with all she learned in just her first lesson with Jack. It was fantastic to see her excitement again for private lessons. So excited she wanted to continue playing and practicing even after the session. Thank you, Jack! She wanted me to let you know she is looking forward to many more days like this!😁👍

Jack is a friendly, encouraging instructor---a great match for my 11-year-old daughter. He's obviously an expert bassoonist, but does a fantastic job of explaining things clearly and simply for the less-advanced student. My daughter can't wait for her next bassoon lesson with Jack!
Claire
Very knowledgeable and friendly, and a great communicator about bassoon technique. Today was my daughter’s first lesson with Jack - She learned so much and has some good assignments to work on before the next lesson. We totally recommend Jack as an instructor!

Music is my first love! After trying out several instruments, violin and viola stole my heart. I've been playing for nearly 20 years, and teaching for 9. As a teacher, I am flexible and fun-loving. I believe that music should always be fun, even when it's hard. I help foster a lifetime love of m

I’ve had three lessons so far and I feel so supported by Gail. I’m an adult student and Gail is very patient with me and kind. I actually really enjoy going to my lessons! She has already taught me so many handy tricks that she learned from many years of experience. I’m brand new to the violin and Gail is excellent at helping me with my hand placement and I feel confident that what she’s teaching me is really setting me up for success and good habits with the violin.

My son was excited about Ms Gail’s knowledge of the viola.

I Love my lessons with Ms. Gail! She makes the lesson fun and is always encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and try an exercise before a scheduled lesson. I would highly recommend Ms. Gail!

I have been doing cello for close to 10 years now, and as of 3 years ago, I discovered that I love teaching! It's become a favorite way of mine to inspire other's to be the best musician they can be! The cello isn't a particularly easy instrument to learn, but I will say that it is SO worth it. It takes work, but what doesn't? I would encourage everyone to play an instrument! It just so happens that I can only help with a few of those. ;)

About Leah

I am 17 years old and a member of the Missouri Philharmonic Orchestra, and the principle cellist in the Play and Sing His Praises Homeschool Orchestra, where I also get to have the pleasure of being able to teach children and adults an instrument, when they otherwise might not have had a chance.

"Angela helped me to expand my range, and also taught me "how to breathe," which helped me get the support I needed to make clear sounding notes. I sang alto in chorus for years and she taught me how to successfully hit high notes and have them sound good too. She also worked with me at the tail-end of High School, when my anxiety ran rampant. But somehow she managed to make me a more confident singer and person overall. Thank you Angela! :)"

"Desiree is a terrific vocal coach! I just completed my third lesson and am very impressed with her skills and ability to refine my breathing, diction and vocal continuity. Atmosphere is extremely inviting and she is very pleasant while also staying highly focused and on task. After taking some time off from singing, I was looking for someone who could get me back in shape vocally with a combination of classic training and some crossover to musical theatre. She fits the bill very well!"
