Viola is the undersung hero of the orchestra, and I love to help violists learn this beautiful instrument! Though much of the technique of the instrument is the same or very similar to the violin, violists enjoy a great repertoire of solo pieces and high demand in ensembles, which I can help you discover for yourself. Rhythm guitar, picking patterns and reading notes on the guitar are all taught.

About Kathryn

Kathy believes that variety is the spice of not only life, but also music. Raised singing folk music with a musical family (think accordions, guitars and lots of vocal harmonies), she learned guitar and piano at an early age, but began singing even earlier. Her quest to give the world the best

My experience with Kathy has been great. It's been roughly five months and I learned a lot and I'm also much more confident to sing. Learning the right techniques is crucial. Kathy is extremely patient and she adapts the classes to the student goals and aspirations. English is not my first language and she was also always very respectful and patient in explaining everything twice or maybe three times until I get it.
Kathleen
Kathryn has a terrific demeanor, and provides clear, thoughtful suggestions for technique!

"Great Teacher!

Aleksis is an awesome piano teacher. I have taken lessons from him for 3 years. His method is fun and effective. He adjusts his teaching style based on how you learn and how you want to play. I know this because he also taught my husband guitar and did some sessions with our niece and nephew when they were visiting. He is great with kids with his very positive and fun approach."

"Great teacher and musician

We had some difficulty locating a clarinet teacher for our 10 year old daughter and did not love relying on the internet but Dimitry was quite a find. He has been fabulous in every aspect and our daughter has progressed beautifully and loves the clarinet. He is a true professional and a great musician. We recommend him highly with no reservations."

"After many different guitar teachers and disappointing results, I nearly put my guitar away for good. Fortunately, I decided to give it one more try by signing up with Kevin. He helped me make the most of what I had already learned before moving on to new techniques. Now I can play many of my favorite songs. I'm more confident and happier than ever with my playing. I'm even playing for other people, and I've even written a song, two things I never imagined myself doing. Kevin is patient, tactful and supportive. He never makes me feel stupid or incompetent. He is an excellent teacher. As a former teacher myself, I recommend him without reservation."

How Does Violin Restoration Work?

What is Violin Restoration? Violins are can be finely crafted instruments made by master luthiers with decades of experience or machine-made student models put together on an assembly line. These are the two extremes that one can encounter when owning or renting a violin.  There are, of course, many variations of these extremes that will affect the cost and value of these instruments. One thing that all of these different levels of violins have in common is that they come from the workshop or …
