"Excellent vocal teacher
We have found Mr. Studivant to be professional, courteous and experienced. He has helped to develop and improve my daughter's voc
al ability and her singing confidence has grown (in front of other people). He communicates in a timely fashion and provides necessary feedback on her progress. We are grateful to have him."

"I can finally sing with confidence!
I'm a 29 year old aspiring actress who lives in Hollywood. I've always loved to sing but often felt challenged when s
inging with my upper register. And because of that I was not comfortable to go to certain auditions that require singing. About 3 months ago I decided to make a change and start taking voice lessons with Melody. Melody was referred by one of my actor friends who also took lessons from her and found helpful. At our first lesson she conducted a thorough vocal assessment and pointed out my trouble area, which is singing with upper register. She also corrected my breathing habits at the spot and we warmed up for 20 mins. Right after the 1st session I could feel the improvement and I was very excited. With the practical techniques Melody teaches me, after only three months I can say that I'm in love with singing, and I'm much more confidant with my voice. Next time I'm definitely gonna take the audition that requires singing!
Melody is very nice and enthusiastic, definitely worth trying!"

"Gave me excellent instruction and direction for my future bass guitar practicing and development
After only five lessons last summer, I was not able to c
ontinue with Rob due to personal time constraints and lack of practice time, but during those lessons Rob gave me invaluable instruction, fixed my hand positions, took me in the direction I wanted to go, and as my last request from him, developed a very comprehensive long term development plan I could follow on my own, as time permitted. Rob was very patient and seemed extremely knowledgeable regarding the specifics of bass guitar technique and theory. Thanks, Rob, for giving me a direction and helping me get started the right way."

"Shakeatha is a wonderful teacher!
Prior to taking lessons, I had absolutely no experience in singing or playing the piano. I was very nervous that I woul
d not catch on quickly but, Shakeatha was very patient with me and worked diligently with me and she made all of my nerves go away. She is a great communicator and she explains the different techniques very well. Within one day I was able to read the music for two songs and play them on the piano by myself. She also taught me some excellent exercises that has helped improve my vocal range. Shakeatha is a very skilled and experienced teacher who loves to help others be the best that they can be. She makes you feel very comfortable and she is very encouraging. I have always had a strong passion to learn how to sing and play the piano and I'm very thankful that I found TakeLessons and my teacher Shakeatha. I really enjoy my sessions with Shakeatha and I would definitely recommend her to everyone. She's the best!"
Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal
is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!
I have been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.
I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.
*** Lesson Details *** I construct lessons for each individual student depending on their musical tastes, goals, and current skill level etc. I want each person to get as much from their time studying with me as possible. Within three to six months, I'll have you working on timing, theory, ear training, improv, and songs/styles of music you may be interested in. I'm laid back, however, I expect at least the minimum practice time between lessons, which I'll change throughout the course of our time together depending on your skill level etc. Practice materials I draw up are included. I write out everything in plain English and do not require the use of sheet music!
*** Studio Equipment *** Small recording studio, piano, various guitars, bass, and amps.
*** Travel Equipment *** guitar, bass, laptop, digital recorder.
*** Specialties *** I concentrate on ear training, improvisation, and explore styles ranging from pop, alternative, rock, prog, and blues, to metal, funk, and folk etc. I do not require sight reading skills for any level of student. Rather, I work with the student with theory and arrangement conventions to really understand the music. This intern, greatly sharpens their musical ear and helps them to learn music much faster because they understand how it is put together; why and how it works, etc.
***Teaching Special Needs*** I have experience teaching students who have been visually impaired, blind, hearing impaired, or who have had mild learning disabilities. I am also comfortable with a student bringing their service dog or therapy dog to our lessons if they wish.

A solid teacher with a lot of experience
Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.

I've been taking bass lessons from Cameron for a few months now. He's a great instructor. Very knowledgeable, very patient, and puts in time outside our lessons to be prepared to teach or play new material that I am interested in. I always look forward to my lessons. If you're looking for a good bass or guitar teacher (not sure what else he might teach) Cameron is your guy!

*** Lesson Details *** In the first half of the lesson, students can expect to learn music fundamentals from a guitar method book, i.e. how to read music; I also teach guitar tablature. Depending on ability (beginner, intermediate, advanced), I will show them chords, scales and how to play a guitar solo. The second half of the lesson is spent with the student learning their favorite songs and building a repertoire (song list) for possbile future performances.
*** Studio Equipment *** home: Seating for parents. I provide the amp, instrument cable and music stand. I expect the student to have a guitar and notebook. If the student does not have a guitar, I will give a referral for reasonably priced guitars.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect the student to have a guitar and notebook. If the student does not have a guitar, I will give a referral for reasonably priced guitars.
*** Specialties *** Rock, Pop, Jazz, & Beginner Classical

Roberta is amazing! I went to her for a little more than 3 years for voice (and piano for a little bit) and she is very helpful, skilled, friendly, knowledgable, and fun. She helped me get into my top choice college as a choral music major with a full tuition scholarship and supported me the entire way. Roberta knows how to work with any voice with any level of experience of any age. Not only is Robera a fantastic teacher; she is also very understanding and a great person to talk to. I would highly recommend her to any student in the area.
