Book NowMy personal pedagogy is a combination of the basic technical and theoretical aspects of the instrument and what music the student is interested. It is paramount that students of all levels are learning their instrument through performing their favorite music. All necessary technical exercises can be adapted to a specific genre of music. I have many resources and a vast library of literature available for my lessons that I have compiled through my years at Berklee studying with the world's greatest bassists and theorists.
My main goal in every lesson is to be as time efficient as possible. We start with introducing new warm up exercises or new approaches to playing the instrument with confidence and facility. This is important for students of all levels so we can learn the correct ways to execute our favorite music in the most efficient way possible. From there I always spend the most time on the student's goals, like learning a new song or perhaps theory and improvisation. My ...

We will work from the bottom up, starting with proper breathing and warm up exercises.
Scale work and technical drills are made fun through games and other means to keep things interesting :)
Repertoire work will be chosen according to experience level after basic assessment, we can work together to find something you enjoy playing.
Basic theory and music history will be addressed naturally as we work through new pieces!
I am more than happy to work on any other music you are currently playing for school or other ensembles.
Let's have fun and work hard!

Through this skills they will learn how to grow as musicians and become better learners and problem solvers in the process. The goal I have for my students is that they will fall in love with music. From the beginning my students will develop skills in :
-Theory
-Improvisation
-Note reading
-Composition
-Ear training
-Musical Interpretation
-Confidence and poise
-Initiative
-Attention span and concentration
-Visual and aural memory
-Time management and organizational skills
I primarily focus on popular music styles, but I do offer a classical focus if the student has interests in that realm. I primarily teach via the discovery method; Which makes learning more active so that the students grasp concepts more effectively and develop the ability to learn independently.
I understand that every student's interests, goals and learning styles vary. As an instructor I teach accordingly with custom made lesson plans that cater to who you are as a student. Whether you are studying to pursue therapeutic/recreational goals or studying to pursue professional endeavors I will help you get there.
