About Enrique
I truly enjoy teaching and have many years of experience teaching students of all levels and ages.

I try to teach my students how important it is to listen to themselves play. When appropriate, I bring a guitar or bass (depending on the student's need) and help the student learn how drums relate to the rest of the music. I want all of my students to enjoy playing and to have music as a tool for life: one that helps them express themselves, think creatively, learn specific and technical skills, and grow musically. I believe all people can benefit from learning to play an instrument. If you or your child believe that music can provide a new way to find meaning and joy in life while learning a valuable skill, please contact me.

In addition, I have successfully taught many students who have had trouble in school due to lack of motivati
on and/or learning disabilities. Drum/percussion lessons have reawakened these discouraged students' desire to learn and I am happy to adjust my teaching style for any disabilities or difficulties a student may have. I am happy to provide references from parents whose children were struggling in other areas of life and who looked forward to a music lesson when all else seemed to be a chore.

More information: My recent recordings include top-selling Mexican pop artist Yuridia's newest album, Entre Mariposas, produced by his longtime collaborator Javier Calderon, and I have shared credits with Kenny Aronoff and James East.

Winner , San Diego Music Awards with the band Skelpin.

Percussionist of Manolito Gypsy (Gypsy Kings).

Classes are 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on age and ability. I give lessons at your home or in my home studio.

I will start by talking to the student and/or parent about what the student would like to accomplish from the lessons and what, if any, musical background the student already has. It's OK if you don't have any experience at all.

The first class is when I focus on understanding how the student learns. Everyone learns differently and is motivated differently, so I make it a point to get to know what makes the student tick. During the first lesson, we will do some basic exercises so I can pinpoint where they are, and I'll assign skills to practice for the next class.

If the class is taught at my home studio, I record it for the student to refer to during the week. I assign exercises for every class, so please plan to practice at least 15 minutes per day while you are taking lessons.

Finally, I offer a recording opportunity for students who are writing songs and would like to learn recording skills. This is an option for advanced students, students who are looking to record a demo, or for young students who would like to preserve their new accomplishments on an audio file that can be given as a gift.

Erin was very caring, articulate, thorough and responsive. She tested my daughter's knowledge by assigning her problems to do prior to their sessions. As a result, she was able to get 100% on all of her home/class work.

Doing what I love: teaching, training, interacting with people. I retired from the army after 28 years of active and reserve military service, so now I have time to do privately what I did for the army for so many years: teach and train people. For many years I presented seminars in Spanish and English in Central and South America as well as the Caribbean on many subjects to adults of all ranks. I am a Florida State Certified Spanish teacher. My Bachelor's degree is in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico, and I hold minors in History and French. I am (since 1993) a financial adviser (stock broker, RIA) and a licensed insurance agent, which is my other passion and area of expertise. This tutoring for me is not a job; it is a passion, just another way I do what I love - teaching, advising and interacting with people. I
f this sounds like what you want, hope to hear from you soon.

I taught Algebra I and Geometry at Clemente High School in Chicago and AP Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry at Libertyville High School Summer Program. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a private school in Buffalo Grove, IL. I love tutoring students of any age, from elementary to high school. It makes me happy when I see the progress they are making. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instructions from Loyola University, Chicago.
At one point in my life I wanted to be a pharmacist, but when I became a teacher, I realized that that is what I was meant to be. I love helping people. I see how much difference it makes in a student's life when he or she starts to feel confident in Math class, starts to get high scores, starts to dream big. Math opens the doors to a better future, to a better career, to a higher s
elf-esteem. I am grateful for the opportunity to help to make it happen.

Julia is a highly knowledgeable, professional and personable teacher. My son has been tutored by her since the age of 4 and is now 13. His MAP and PARCC scores are off the charts and he just received his placements for Stevenson High School with the recommendations for the highest math classes offered to incoming freshmen. Julia taught him to love and be passionate about mathematics. Her primary goal is to make sure that the students learn in a stress-free environment and with that strategy she is able to accomplish brilliant results. I recommend Julia highly. She is very approachable and patient, loves children and loves what she does.

I graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) with a Bachelors of Psychology. I will going off to Physician Assistant School next year. I have always had a passion for math!

Math takes patience and practice but I love watching students get their AH-HA moments when they final understand a problem. I am willing to work through any math problem until a student understands it. I tutored Math all through my high school career as well as college because of my love for numbers.

Math is a universal language and doesn't changed based on dialectic or actual linguistics. Numbers maybe written differently, but still operate the same.

Some of my hobbies include reading and listening to music. I was also an athlete all through school so I understand how difficult juggling homework and extracurriculars can be so hours are definite
ly flexible. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better mathematician!

Interesting.

That is the word around which I build my tutoring.

I want my students to enjoy learning about science. I want them to see and understand why it's useful, how knowing it can help them, and how it can be fun.

To get there, I focus on three things:

First, I try hard to make sure that every student does not lose sight of the overall connection between the very specific, sometimes technical details she is learning and the overarching point of the science. That helps keep the subject interesting.

Second, I work to help the student master the quantitative aspects of science. High school teachers generally emphasize that kind of calculation to a pretty significant degree and, besides, nervousness over the math often gets in the way of enjoying the learning and a better grade!

Third, I strive to develop a strong working relati
onship with the student so that I get a better understanding of the ways that she or he best learn. I use videos, texts and written practice materials, sure, but I also use comics, music, drawing, outdoor activities, and even lab-style learning activities.

This variety helps to assure that a student has some fun while learning and to recognize that the sciences are exciting. If a student is encouraged to believe that, then she or he might not only improve their grade in science class. The student might just become open to some new dreams and, of course, gain alot more confidence.

I make myself available to email or text consultation with a student, with the parent's permission, outside of the regularly scheduled in-person meeting and I do not charge for that extra help.

Thanks for considering me!
