About Denise
I hold a Master's in Voice Performance degree from University of New Orleans and Bachelor of Science degree in Voice Performance from State Music Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 2001, I toured with International European Opera Company which performed numerous times in Denmark, France, Italy and USA.
I currently perform and teach in the New Orleans area and love to share my knowledge and experience with my students. There is so much more to performance then just beautiful vocalizing.....

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching is based on my own personal, classical training from Europe and North America. Whether it's opera, oratorio, musical theater or pop-style singing that is desired, I believe that classical technique is an essential source of proper singing that can be used to train singers of all genres.
Just like a piano, flute or vi
olin, your voice is an instrument.
The purpose of voice lessons is to help you develop a beautiful and dynamic singing voice and also to teach you to use your voice in a healthy age-appropriate way that will keep you singing for many years to come!
As your teacher, I want your lesson to be more than just singing through a few songs.
While what specifically happens during a voice lesson can vary greatly from student to student and from week to week, the overall structure of the lessons remains similar.
We will always start with some combination of warm-ups for your breath, body, and voice. Just as you wouldn't go running without first stretching and warming up your muscles, you don't want to start singing full songs without first getting your body and voice warmed up.
Warm-ups will also introduce you to new techniques for properly using your voice in a healthy and beautiful way.
After warm-ups, we will work on songs. Typically, you will sing through the song once, and then we will go through it in small, manageable chunks, applying the techniques from the warm-ups to the songs.
During the lesson we will also work on expression and acting. A song isn't just pretty notes—it tells a story. If it's a song from a musical, there's a specific character that sings it. It's your job as a singer to tell the story and to make it fun and exciting for the audience.
While there's a lot of hard work that goes on during a lesson, voice lessons are lots of fun! As your teacher, I am here to encourage you, support you, and guide you in your vocal studies. I look forward to working with you soon!

*** Studio Equipment ***

I currently perform professionally, including with the Louisiana Philharmonic, Jefferson Performing Arts Society, and Rapides, Acadiana, and Lake Charles Symphonies. Having studied piano since the age of 8 through graduate school, I enjoy performing as a vocal accompanist fo

About Grant
Hello!

My name is Grant Hudson and I’ve been helping students grow for over 11 years now! How time flies! I started playing music at the age of 9 and have been in love with it ever since, staying active in my local music scene as an instructor, performer, manager, and booking agent.

This is how I like to structure my lessons:

I look at what you want to play, pick specific songs that you want to learn, and teach you the techniques you need to play these songs. It sounds simple, but it's so effective and much more fun to learn this way!

In addition to freelance work, (weddings, jazz brunch gigs, etc.) I am the lead guitarist for the Funk/R&B band Water Seed and the soul project RetroFit. I attended Indiana University for jazz guitar and have studied under jazz greats Dan Miller, Corey Christiansen, and Oteil Burbridge.

I tea
ch all kinds of stringed instruments from guitar and bass to mandolin and banjo!

If you have any questions for me hit the "Ask Grant A Question" button, I would love to hear from you and discuss your interests in music!

Musically yours,
Grant

I've been taking drum lessons with Collin for a few months and my drumming has improved a lot, much faster than I expected. Every week he gives me new stuff to work on, keeping in mind my personal goals for drumming and what I want to get out of it. He's really nice and patient; I'm an adult but he seems like he would be a good teacher for any age person who wants to improve their drumming.

About Murphy
I am an Electric and Upright Bass Player with a BM in jazz studies from the University of Kansas, and I have extensive experience playing and receiving lessons in Jazz Upright, Classical Double Bass, Electric Bass, and Jazz piano.

Music to me is unique in its consistent ability to make me not worry about other problems occurring in my life, offer a way to express myself that is not possible through other means, and also be one of the most fun activities that I personally have ever engaged in. I seek to spread this mentality through teaching styles of music ranging from pop, to rock, to funk, to classical, to jazz, and everything in between.

Having played music for 13 years, I have been taught by many teachers in many ways-and I know what I do and do not think is particularly helpful pedagogically speaking. I like to split up less
ons in order to focus on different aspects of playing such as technique, developing a good ear, reading music, rhythm, and (most importantly) a heavy emphasis on playing the type of music that the student enjoys.

Through an amalgam of personal and collegiate endeavors, I have been fortunate enough to perform at venues and events such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Umbria Jazz Festival, Jazz a Vienne Festival, the Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and many others. Also via university playing experiences, I have had the pleasure of playing with performers such Ryan Kilgore (Stevie Wonder), Branford Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Matt Wilson, Deborah Brown, Tia Fuller, Anat Cohen, and Josh Nelson, just to name a few.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you become the best musician you can be!

Hi, my name is Tanai and I am an Australian music lover. Since I was 6 years old I have been playing and performing music on a variety of instruments including the piano, flute and violin. As I reached high school my desire to develop my skills increased and I limited my major to flute and piano. After high school I attended the Queensland Conservatory of music and majored in classical performance on the flute. It was there that I received extensive training in musical performance, theory skills, aural skills and learned various teaching methods. During this time I started teaching piano lessons and have helped many students develop their musical skills. I am a passionate and determined teacher who aims to help any aged student achieve their musical endeavors.

I began music lessons when I was 5. My piano teacher was probably close to 80! The at the age of 10 I began violin (I had to beg)! And in junior high I learned tenor saxaphone in order to play in the school Marching and Concert bands. I sang in church choir and junior high choir. I lived and breathed music. The same has been true for me as an adult. My B.M.E. Was earned at Central Methodist University. In 1983 I received a Master degree in violin performance.I have performed on violin, piano and viola. Conducted many youth group orchestras, and taught students of all ages for 40 years now. My dog Beau likes music (especially the violin) so much that he sings while I play. Learning new things about music excites me.....new literature, new things about the music industry and technology and researching the composers whose ideas and
beauty I love to share.
Chamber music and playing in orchestras has occupied most of my spare time for many years. It is so fantastic to play so many composers works, ideas and feelings. Teaching others how to do this is my great joy. It is always a beautiful thing to share the music you are learning with others both as a part of the great community and person to person.
I do love to swim, take walks with Beau, enjoy nature and be a support to my outstanding friends, some of whom are musciains.
