"Joneide has been my Portuguese instructor for different level courses at Brazil in Chicago. She performs in a very professional and well organized manner.
In a class with Joneide you can expect to hear and learn a lot from her native language at a very comfortable pace. She is excellent at introducing students to the language, correct pronunciation and much of Brazil’s culture. She is very patient and accommodates to different levels. Her classes always have an enjoyable way to learn such as fun stories or music. I appreciate that she takes the time to introduce the language that may be spoken in a professional environment as well as what you would hear in a casual street conversation. Joneide always has a smile in her face, which to me is very valuable as she loves her job."

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.
Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.
Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.
Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.
*** Lesson Details ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.
*** CD's***
Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501
Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014
Epiphanies1, The Halford Company

About Jeehyae
I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. I spent my first 20 years in Korea. I earned a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Northern Arizona University. While completing my studies at NAU, I was the vice-president of the Korean club teaching college students the Korean language (reading, writing, speaking), and culture.
I have experience teaching Korean to students ranging in skill from beginner to advanced. Students can expect to learn not only the language but also Korean culture and how the language is actually used outside of textbooks.
I also worked at the international office at NAU and Ajou University in Korea. So because of this, I am very experienced in teaching and speaking to students who are either learning English or Korean, and have a strong ability to increase their learning speed.

About Matthew
I have a degree in teaching and was an award winning high school instructor in the Chicago Public Schools for 7 years, have also taught college undergraduates including current instruction at the University of Chicago, so in addition to knowing my subject matter I am an expert teacher. Thus, I know how to adapt to the unique learning modalities of my students, and have a treasure trove of myriad teaching techniques from which to draw upon in order to achieve as many "aha" moments as possible. This is a rare competency among tutors, who are often experts in their subject matter only. I have two years of Hebrew training in rabbinic school and coursework in Biblical Hebrew at the University of Chicago Divinity School, as well as ongoing yeshiva studies.
