About Shellora
I am currently a teacher at a local high school and a graduate of FIU. I worked as an AmeriCorps member with City Year at Homestead Senior High, where I worked in a 9th grade Algebra 1 class as well as after-school tutoring for grades 9-12 in various subjects. I have had experience with students of all ages. I love spending time with students and helping them to learn new things. The subjects I have experience in includes writing, reading comprehension, math, (up to college level pre-calculus/trigonometry), life sciences, and social sciences, and history. I also give beginning to intermediate
piano lessons for the past three years.

Previously, I volunteered as a mentor and tutor at an elementary school, where I assisted students with homework, as well as reading and math skills. I volunteered as a classroom assistant in an ESOL class at a high school where I helped students better their English oral and writing skills, as well as tutoring for any class where they needed help understanding the subject such as history, English, and biology. I also worked in a 10th grade biology class where I assisted students with classwork and was able to create and teach lesson plans. I was a private tutor to college students assisting with research, paper planning, and proofreading as well as math up to trigonometry/pre-calculus, social studies, and biology. In addition, I have taken classes in a program where I was able to create lesson plans for life science classes and teach them to students in 5th grade science, 7th grade life science, and 10th grade biology classes. I also volunteered as a computer aide for the library adult services for 4 years, where I helped people with computer basics, the internet, and document creation. I am a very dependable and trustworthy person, and I love having fun with students.

Shellora is an AMAZING piano teacher! She is very sweet and when she corrects you she does it in a way that makes you feel good about yourself, unlike some of my other teachers who put you down until you finally succeed. I have recommended her to all of my friends and family! You will not regret taking private lessons with Shellora!

About Ana
Hey there! The first thing I want to tell you about studying with me is that my highest priority is making it fun. I’ve found that cultivating the student’s genuine interest and enjoyment of the music learning process is the biggest contributor to progress.

In the first lesson, communication is very important to me. I want to find out what you love about music, so that we can build skills which directly contribute to your musical passions. My approach with a new student involves discussing what they are hoping to get out of taking lessons. Together, we come up with a series of goals that we
will work towards achieving during our sessions. I believe in tailoring the lesson to each individual student- there is no one size fits all method to learning!

I welcome students of all skill levels and ages, including complete beginners!

I have had significant formal musical training, as well as years of experience working as a singer and teacher. I have performed and taught in a variety of styles, including opera, classical, pop, folk, and musical theater. I have a Bachelor of Music degree, and I’m about to complete my Master’s degree in Classical Vocal Performance. I emphasize a vocal technique rooted in the classical tradition, because it provides an excellent foundation for any style the student is interested in singing.

I can provide repertoire for you, and I also am open to working on pieces that you are interested in learning.

Ms. Ana made a really good impression on me! She was not only super knowledgeable but very nice as well. It felt like my technique instantly improved because she troubleshooted and gave me vocalises that really helped. I'd recommend her to anyone who wants to learn to sing better!!

Ana has really helped me with my technique for singing. She knows a lot of different repertoire for young singers and helped me with auditions for school. She's a lot of fun to work with! :)
