This is my first time taking any kind of vocal lessons so I was very nervous. Joseph made me feel very comfortable and really works on what I want to improve on. He is encouraging and very supportive of my ambitious singing goals. I just purchased another month's worth of lessons. Would definitely recommend.

I place a heavy emphasis on not just playing but understanding the music. Understanding what you're playing is a key difference between an amateur and a professional musician.

Music is all about relationships and patterns. The more patterns and relationships you learn to readily recognize and identify the more affluent you become in your musical mastery.

On piano, students can learn how to create an accompaniment from a lead sheet (chord chart) while playing the melody or learn sight reading to improve learning efficiency for more exact music (classical). Technique and fingering is always an important part of learning the piano.

About Jacob

Hi, my name is Jacob. I have been teaching music lessons for a living for over 10 years. I graduated with my Ba. in music composition from the University of Oregon in 2008. I play and teach all styles of music including classical, jazz, rock, folk, and other pop styles. I place a big emphasis o

Theresa is most excellent. There's no question that she knows music and is an accomplished musician, but the real trick is being able to share that talent with a saugsage-fingered doob such as myself. And make it seem a reasonable proposition, something you could do. She has an innate style of instruction that is at once comforting and challenging, setting the bar ever higher while giving enough encouragement that you want to do better. My highest recommendation.

Amazing amazing amazing. I learned so much and had fun at the same time. Theresa has a great and friendly personality, it's such a joy working with her. If you want to learn Cello, I highly recommend her.

About Me
I started taking piano lessons in 8th grade, because my little sister started taking lessons and I didn’t want her to be able to do something I could not! My motivation quickly changed as I began to love the piano and the music I found I could make come from it. Not only did I enjoy the challenges and rewards that came from learning the piano, but the habits of hard work and persistence that I formed along the way have paid off in every part of my life. I graduated with a BA in Music Performance in 2010 from North Central University.

I believe music has incredible educational value, but I also believe that it should be enjoyable. Every student is different and has a different purpose for wanting to learn music. Developing a love for the instrument you play is just as important as developing the technical skills to play it. I do my best as a teacher to learn what it is that students enjoy most about playing and incorporate those aspects into lessons.

About Mary

I began taking piano lessons on a whim in middle school, but it didn't take long before I realized I was completely in love with music. I enjoy playing and teaching many types of music, from classical to rock to hymns and church music. I learned to play by ear at the same time I learned to sight r

Learn basic piano and keyboard techniques, as well as modern improvisation skills and song arrangement. Need to learn how to read a chord chart? Want to mimic an instrumental from a studio recording? What should the keyboardist play during a guitar heavy, upbeat worship jam? Jenna can help.

Jenna is a seasoned songwriter and the Worship Director at a Vineyard Church in Billings, MT. She grew up playing classical piano, but her world opened up when she learned how to move through popular chord progressions and stopped using sheet music. Jenna has over a decade of experience teaching both piano and guitar for worship.

About Jenna

I am the Worship Director at a Vineyard church in Billings, Montana, and have my own virtual Spiritual Direction practice (a form of pastoral care). I lead worship from both piano and guitar (though not at the same time!) and write songs and liturgy for my church and the larger worship community. I

I have had ten years of piano lessons prior to meeting Jenna, but she has given me tools to continue improving on my own! She is incredible at assessing where a student is and taking them to their own next level whether that be reading music, to different chording rhythms and styles, to directing a band. I am learning so much with each session with Jenna. Highly recommend!

Feedback

Things are going great with our piano lessons. The lessons material Dustin selected is excellent. We had hoped for an easy and slow start and that is what we are getting.
TonyS
When I started taking lessons with Dustin, my goals were to improve my ability to play the piano, strengthen my ear, and to have a deeper understanding of music theory. Starting from our first lesson Dustin had a lesson plan already mapped out that would help me accomplish my goals. Now when I play piano, I have the ability to play and write songs with much less effort. The ear training Dustin provided has brought me to the point that I can identify chords and intervals in music clearly. With a good foundation of theory established, being assigned harmonic analysis of a musical piece is not a daunting task. Overall, I have been very happy with Dustin's style of teaching and plan to continue taking lessons with him.

"Caleb was recommended to me by friends when my son inquired about trumpet lessons to augment the lessons he receives from school. My son is 10 years old. Caleb has been instrumental in making my son have a ton more confidence in his trumpet playing skills and has taught my son to become a better player. Now, when my son comes home from school-band practice he says that the "other" trumpet players aren't keeping up. :-)

Caleb is patient, well versed in music, and is incredibly talented. We take lessons in his home and have been very happy with his teaching style and my son's ability to become a better trumpet player.

I highly recommend Caleb for trumpet lessons for any age!"

5 Contemporary Songs to Learn How to Play Piano by Ear

Can your favorite contemporary songs help you learn how to play piano by ear? They sure can! Check out how to get started in this guest post by Corona, CA teacher Milton J...   Recently, I started teaching a new piano student who simply wanted to play his favorite pop songs by both ear and sight to not only become a better pianist, but to be the life of the party for his friends. I loved his goal and made sure he knew about the great ways of learning how to play piano by ear using the pop …
