I began voice lessons at the age of 5. I have performed on stage and won various awards throughout the years. However, my great love is in teaching, being "behind the scenes" and helping others reach their potential. With more than 22 years of experience, combined with amazing teachers, I have accumulated an array of knowledge about the voice. I can also teach you how to accompany yourself with your chosen instrument. The truth is, anyone can sing! The breath is what holds the key to unlocking the amazing potential of your voice, and with practice, you can allow the voice to express your own unique individuality. All voices are different and beautiful, and it is the job of a voice teacher to help you reveal to you your own voice through proper technique, getting in touch with your body, and with "allowing" your voice to shine. There is a special voice/breath technique that was shown to me by one of my teachers, Martha Howe, an international opera singer and professor. She showed me ...

I place a heavy emphasis on not only playing music but understanding it. Understanding what you're playing is one of the most important differences between an amateur and a professional musician.
Music is all about relationships and patterns. I teach my students to recognize and identify these relationships and patterns to set them up on the course for musical mastery.

Another way I have been involved with Mark is through his teaching. The SCB has a commitment to fostering music education in our area. Mark has served as a teacher and mentor to many high school band students in our area. We run an Honor Band, a Summer Music Camp and regular playing opportunities for middle and high school students. Mark's hard work and high level of knowledge has always helped our groups..
Mark is also a very fine musical instrument repairman. He does a great job repairing both woodwind and brass instruments. For the past decade or so he has been my main repairman for my clarinets and saxophones that I play professionally.
When Mark and his family decided to leave our area, it was a big loss for us. Besides myself, many other music teachers, performers and students miss the influence of Mark. I know that Mark will continue his high standards and exceptional commitment where ever he is. Our loss is your gain. I enthusiastically recommend Mark Levenson to you.

Awarded High School Voices Studio from Houston Grand Opera
I want my students to develop a reliable technique so that they can accomplish anything that they would want to perform. I think technique is the most reliable base you can have for a lasting and enjoyable vocal career. I am interested in what you want to learn as well as your vocal aspirations. I cannot wait to work with you!
For students that are younger (elementary-middle school) I recommend 30-45 minutes.
About Sydney
I am currently working on my undergraduate at Palm Beach Atlantic University for Vocal Performance--specializing in opera. I started performing and studying musical theatre when I was five years old, and in High School, I was a member of the Houston Grand Opera High School Voices Studio. I have bee

Hear From TakeLessons Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

In short David is the kind of teacher that makes each lesson enjoyable and really helps you learn what's important to you. He has 35 years of experience so you can throw just about anything at him and he'll know what you're talking about. I can't recommend him enough if you are looking for a piano teacher in person."

I've made HUGE improvements over the past few months. Through his instruction, I've unlocked so much more of my voice than when I first started singing with him. I'm shy and laugh a lot, so it was difficult for me to get comfortable with a few of the exercises. While taking the singing, breathing and improving my voice oh so seriously, we laugh and have fun which makes me feel a lot more comfortable.
I would recommend Benjamin to anyone looking to learn to do anything as he is a great teacher. I already do recommend him to my friends for singing lessons."

Unlike most other musical instrument, your voice is something that you carry with you everywhere! This is perhaps why many beginners are less likely to consider how their practice space should be set up, and why they have more trouble with performances. Practicing singing is just like any other kind of practice, whether for music, the arts, or a sport. You have to establish a space where you can focus on what you're doing with the least number of distractions. Knowing how to practice will take …
