About Marie
I have worked in Animation for over 20 years, from traditional 2D animation to computer, initially in Canada, in Montreal, more precisely. In '97, I was hired by the Walt Disney Animation Studio to train their animators on the computer. I taught computer animation software, mainly Maya, and Photoshop to hundreds of talented artists here in Burbank. I was also creating and writing teaching materials, so I am well versed in Word, and Illustrator.

My other passion is Fashion Design. I am a Fashion Design graduate from FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising). I studied Fashion so I could make my own patterns. I have been sewing for over 30 years and just love creating clothing or costumes for my children and I, with commercial patterns or my own patterns. I am pretty crafty, really good at modifying patterns, and I have a grea
t knowledge of fabrics. I love fashion illustration and the whole process of creating a line.

I really enjoy teaching, and after years of teaching animation software, I craved teaching something more hands-on, and I have been enjoying teaching sewing and fashion design. It is rewarding to pass on a skill that used to be taught from generation to generation, but that less and less people are learning nowadays.

Whether it is for a hobby, to decorate your house, to prepare for design school, or to make your own clothes, I can teach you from the very basic sewing skills, to more advance topics such as modifying your patterns to make clothes that fit.

I was happy to work with Marie for several reasons. She was flexible with her time and saw me as soon as she could. I am an experienced sewer but she was helpful to work with me to better understand the alteration questions that I brought to her. I highly recommend her as she is a good communicator, skillful and easy to work with.

Marie was an amazing teacher! Besides the fact that we got to speak in French, her instruction was easy to follow and her breadth of knowledge was apparent. i wasnt her student for an extremely long period (as my work schedule got very hectic) but I'd go back no questions. 5 stars. thanks Marie!

About Sarah
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Sarah and I am honored you have chosen to look at my profile. Finding the right teacher is so important! A little about me:
I graduated from Lees-McRae College in May 2017 with a BFA in musical theater and a minor in art and design.
I was training American Sign Language at Northern Virginia Community College back in 2012. In 2015 I studied under a ASL master from Gallaudet University.
My goal is to help you learn what you are craving to know! I try to not charge too high for lessons, I know that this is something that is for fun and is not always a possibility so I try to keep it at a lowish price so that everyone has a chance to learn. I am very flexible to schedules. I am willing to have a regular time or switching it up weekly; I have students who travel for a living so they are always on a differ
ent time zone; no matter the obstacle I will make it work for you!
Something that is great to know about me is that I never stop training, pursuing growth and knowledge. I read books in these various fields to learn more and more, take master classes, and train with my own vocal coaches. I think art - on any platform, is a great way to get out of your head, free your mind, and open up yourself. So this can be for professional training, a hobby you always wanted to pursue, or a dream you wanted to chase after.

In my class with you, or you child, I will make an individualized lesson plan that focus around what skills you already have, what skills you aim to improve/gain, and how you learn. I am very familiar with the fact that we are ALL different, which means we will all learn DIFFERENTLY. I am willing to explain something in as many ways as one needs in order to understand. I like to think of my lessons as a “safe place” to explore, have fun, grow, and be okay with making mistakes. We will always start with the basics, understand the core of the craft - for example in singing that would be our vocal anatomy and how it all connects together. I use props to help make the concept more visual and graspable as well as diagrams. This is not something someone will pick up in one lesson, so don’t come in saying “I can’t”, you can, you just have to learn HOW. I will show you the how. Remember, this is a learning process, we must embrace each step of our growth.
-----
Some background of how I came to do what I do:
I have been working professionally for theatres for five years now; which has had me living in various towns in NC, OH, AR, and traveling nationwide for tours. I have a lot of experience under my belt for my years. I began taking performance classes as young as age 2 when I started ballet, then I began singing in choir in third grade. I started being in awe of sign language when I saw an interpreter working her magic around age ten and I asked my mom for a sign language book. Expanding my knowledge is what I do for fun, so when you pick me you pick someone who is constantly growing and learning more which will ultimately benefit the student.

I teach a variety of classes that, for the most part, circle around the arts! Some of my classes include but are not limited to: Acting, Child Acting, Improv Audition Prep, Various styles of “Singing” classes, Ear Training, Musical Theatre, Music Performance, Various “Art” classes, Facial Exercises (Which is great for singers, and those who speak a lot day to day to help relieve tension in the face), and more!
For an explanation on each class, I will be recording a video that describes them and posting that on here soon! There is a video trailer of me singing and dancing that is currently available. If you want to know anything more at all please do not hesitate to send me a message and I will respond as quickly as I possibly can!

Glad that I chose Sarah for lessons. The reviews from other students are very accurate. She is very knowledgeable, patient, and understanding of my schedule. I am looking forward to rest of my lessons with her and gaining a great foundation in ASL, upon which I can continue to build a better understanding.

Steve contacted me before my first lesson to discuss what I expected from the session. I had only scheduled one lesson and wanted to try it out for myself and because I am enrolled in a graduate study program; I needed to try an alternative healing session so I could complete an assignment. I loved that Steve explained the movements and how they affected the internal body, mind, and spirit. He is a wealth of information and I plan on continuing to learn from him.

I haven't even taken the lesson yet, but am struck by his professionalism in reaching out to me by phone to discuss my knowledge and expectations of Qigong. You know the feeling you get when you talk to someone about a subject and you have an inclination about their depth of knowledge of it? No doubt, Steve knows exactly what he is talking about and with his extensive experience and personality, is a teacher that really wants to explain things in a way you really comprehend.

I am self-taught and very passionate about makeup. I believe that it is a fun way to express your self and a way to showcase your already beautiful features. I started "playing" with makeup at 13 and haven't put it down.

I am constantly learning new techniques and tips to grow my knowledge. I have done make up for school dances, for photo's, for stage and for whole wedding parties.

I can help with technique, application, tips, how to do makeup affordably, how to match correct colors for your skin-type and eye colors, best application for the student age.

With easy to follow and fun instructions, you can quickly grow your skill. I look for work to helping you become more confident in makeup.

About Anna-Katharina
I'm currently studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles where I will be graduating from in May.

Not only do I have a huge passion for make up and hair but I have been teaching myself since I was 12. I am partially self taught and I have taken classes on stage, age, illness and fantasy make up.

Being taught how to do nails and hair by my mother (who owns a nail salon where I have worked at too) at a very young age, had me growing up with an interest in beauty. That interest grew bigger and bigger and eventually led me to teaching.

My lessons consist of a fairly wide range. I teach how to improve and get more comfortable with your daily make up while providing some tips and tricks for your individual needs (e.g. skin type, creative preferences, skill level etc).

I'm looking forward to meeting you and helping you
achieve your goals!
