My basic approach to classical work focuses primarily on the connection of the breath with the feeling on the word.

This is the foundation on which you can then build. From the ‘words’ to the ‘thoughts’ to entire ‘passages’ of text, as you work and explore, the richness of the playwright’s words comes to life. Your own unique emotional life is allowed to come through the text and you are able to fully embody the role.

About Nicholas

I have been an actor for more the 40 years having worked Off-Broadway and Regionally. I've taught acting for 25 years privately as well as at Brooklyn College, St Frances College, Marymount Manhattan College, and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. "Nicholas is patie

Very helpful instructor. Worked with me on moot court preperation for law school. Focusing on highlighting the operative words in phrases and lists. Would reccomend to anyone who really wants to better themselves as a public speaker and orator!

Nicholas was an absolutely amazing instructor. He was extremely patient and understanding with my schedule. He helped me go over a few monolgues for several weeks, break them down, and really dissect them to best fit my technique. Working with him really changed my approach, as well as motivation with acting in general, highly reccomend him as a private instructor!

I met with Nicholas before an audition. He is a wonderful teacher. He helped me already a great deal during that short hour, on how to approach the material, break it down in a way that will help my performance reach its full potential. I was able to deliver a truthful performance. I am looking forward to more sessions. Many thanks.

"Fawn is a fantastic voice coach and singing instructor. She genuinely loves and cares about her students, her work, and teaching. She taught me tricks and tips that drastically changed and strengthened my voice for the better just within the first lesson. And without any pressure. She always makes each lesson fun and meaningful. We always discuss new goals (which Fawn is very easy to talk to) and then Fawn tailors a lesson plan to help me quickly reach them. She is extremely flexible about scheduling and also takes extra time to work on particular issues. And what's nice is that her prices are absolutely affordable (and no where near the same ball park as other vocal coaches with her amount of experience)."

"I worked with Samara on monologues for college auditions and for my showcase, we worked together for a little under (I think) three months. She's such a great teacher, definitely no complaints. I really loved working with her and she totally helped build my confidence when it came to performing in front of others—I'm (or was) ironically shy/weird about performing monologues and pieces in front of people and have been since I started doing theatre (10 years ago). Nonetheless, I got over that after Samara helped me with my acting and I don't get pre-performance anxiety/nerves anymore. I don't think I would've been able to pull off any of my monologues had it not been for her lessons, she actually helped me choose one of the audition monologues because I couldn't find a second one. In the whole monologue/character-building process, she took notes and asked me questions that really made me think about my character and their motives and actions and whatnot. She's also very encouraging and would commend me on anything I did well or improved on. Point is, Samara is a superb teacher and human!! I'd confidently recommend her classes to anyone who needs help with their acting. Five stars because she definitely was the best instructor ever!!"

"I have had the opportunity to learn acting with Gina and it has been great so far. When I signed up for the lessons, I signed up with Gina because of her credentials as I never had an encounter with her. From my first class itself she has taught me a lot about acting specially stage acting and that too with great enthusiasm. I now feel like pursuing it further. She is quite knowledgeable specially in her field and every moment that you are in the class with her, you are learning something new. I would highly recommend her, doesn't matter if you are just getting into the field or trying to set your advanced level stage, her talents will teach you something new that would take you to the next level. I hope you can take advantage of learning from a Great Artist like Gina.
P.S. She is a great Dancer and a great Musician.

Good Luck!"

"Thank you, Vanessa Pace!

THANK YOU, VANESSA!

A year ago when I was shopping for a voice teacher, Take Lessons provided a wide selection of viable options. As a senior adult, I was feeling a need to clarify my "Call" in life, and to return to some of the personal strengths that I hope to continue using in the last 1/3 of my life. In my profile I indicted I was looking to maintain the voice that has been a part of every aspect of my life from theatre to singing, to preaching, to creating radio spots. When I mentioned that goal to Vanessa in our first meeting she countered: “We won’t just maintain it, we’ll restore it!” What a confidence booster that was!

Although my life work mostly involves speaking, I also have a love of singing—something I have participated in one way or another for the last 50 years. I wanted to overcome the “old lady” vibrato syndrome if possible and to be able to sing without concern that those within earshot would shudder.

In addition, I was looking for certain attributes in a teacher:
• A person who is at my stage of life or beyond.
• A person who is knowledgeable in both singing and speech.
• A person with a personal teaching style that is positive and encouraging.

ENTER VANESSA PACE!

Vanessa is confident and knowledgeable. In addition, she has customized my learning program to suit my current objectives, which have changed from one week to the next depending upon my professional assignments from work and my personal creative pursuits.

In this year Vanessa brought me to a point of “breaking through” inhibitions and moving beyond what I thought I’d be able to do. Her constant use of cues to put me on track with the use of my voice has been invaluable! She compared letting sound pass through the vocal cords (without strain) in the same way breath becomes music through a clarinet. Using words like “Pull up your spine—you’re two inches taller!”; and reminders to draw on the strength of (underused) larger muscles to support the efforts of diaphragm have been helpful in numerous practical matters of everyday life.

Vanessa is inspiring in that she is a life-long learner and passionate about things to the degree that she invests in them with intelligent research, attention to science, and a spiritual passion that drives her to draw out the best in her students in similar fashion.

If you are looking for a voice teacher, Vanessa will work with you where you are--and help you move toward the goal of where you are hoping to be.

I am thanking God this Thanksgiving Season for Vanessa Pace.

~ Ann Thomas"

"Ms. Rebecca has been a phenomenal teacher! I am so grateful for everything she has taught me. She has a well rounded teaching style that pulls inspiration from both renowned teachers of the past (Stanislavsky, Adler, Meisner, etc.) and themes found in our current events (politics, pop culture, etc.) She has trained me in anything and everything from the basics of stage acting, improv, film, script writing, and even how to method act safely. I have been awarded multiple Superior marks while competing under her teaching and am now working in my community theatres thank to her preparation. In her classes, I not only grew as an artist, but as a person as well. I honestly couldn’t recommend her more!"
