I have been teaching children of all age groups to acquire a solid foundation in violin playing. Whether it be pre-K beginners, or high school students getting ready for college auditions, I will communicate with the students and parents to set a number of goals to achieve.
I also welcome adult students, beginners and amateur enthusiasts alike.

In addition to gaining expertise in the techniques in violin playing, students in my studio will be given opportunities to gain comprehensive music knowledge including theory, sight singing, ear training, and any relevant music history, as the above-mentioned knowledge are indispensable elements in violin playing. Singing and clapping are essential parts of the lesson. When students are equipped with the basics, they can play anything and make the music they want.

About Dongbin

I am a concert soloist, and have given concerts home and abroad. I have previously served as the concertmaster at the Hartt Symphony Orchestra and the Waterbury Chorale. I am also an avid chamber musician with chamber music experience from age of 15 as a member of the Shin Trio. I was appointed as

My son has been taking violin lessons with Dongbin for almost 3 years since he started playing at age 5. Dongbin has been a great teacher, and my son enjoys learning from him. His lessons include not only violin playing, but also clapping rhythms, singing notes, and other exercises that have been effective ways of learning for my son, while keeping him engaged throughout the lesson. Dongbin recognizes my son’s strengths in playing violin, but also identifies the skills and techniques that he should focus on to become a better player and to build a strong foundation as he progresses. He also gives suggestions to help sharpen those skills while practicing at home. We have been very pleased with our experience with Dongbin as our son’s violin teacher.

My students not only learn to play the guitar, but learn "why they are doing what they are doing!" I teach all ages and I am very patient. We can work as fast or as slow as you like. I believe lessons should be informative and fun at the same time. I teach each students the basics of note reading, chord theory and scales as these subjects relate to the guitar. I use varoius method books like Hal Leonard, The FJH Music, as well as method books for children.

I took 5 lessons with Ed, very great instructor. I learned a lot in those few lessons. He helped with with my pitch and with my accent that I had to prepare for an audition. With his help I was accepted into my high school’s A cappella group “Madrigals” and overall I would recommend. We made it work and tried to make the best out of the situation. Great experience:)

My kids thoroughly enjoyed lessons with Ed (both guitar and piano). Lessons started with my 7yo and when his brother turned 4yo, he started as well.

"Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts."
Psalm 105:2

My Gospel singing course will explore the foundations of effective gospel singing, including phrasing, riffing, and shouting - in addition to traditional vocal technique used for overall healthy singing.

The course begins with a history of gospel music from a vocal standpoint, and then move to the improvisational components of singing. Since gospel music is more about singing the "good news," we will study improvisation techniques from shouting to gospel riffs.

You will discover how various scales, like the pentatonic and blues scales, are used in gospel singing to create a truly soulful sound.

The goal of the course is to help the gospel singer gain a clear understanding of gospel phrasing, scale patterns, proper breathing, pitch accuracy, and clear rhythmic articulation. Hope to see you in class. Keep singing the GOOD NEWS..GOSPEL MUSIC.

"I have known and worked in the studio with Gordon for over 10 years. He has produced many of my recordings and played multiple instruments wonderfully on those recordings. Though I haven't taken lessons from Gordon he has taught me many things during our recording sessions. Gordon is one of the best fiddle/violinist players I know. He also plays, guitar, bass, mandolin and other instruments very well.
Gordon is a positive fun individual who loves his work and it shows. In my opinion he is a fantastic teacher who I highly recommend."

"Ahmad is an amazing guitar instructor. My daughter is 13 and was interested in playing the guitar. We purchased a guitar, talked to friends about instructors and searched Yelp. We initially took video lessons, but that did not cut it. Actually, it was a waste of time - my daughter needed one on one instruction. I spoke to a few guitar instructors, but chose Ahmad based on his background in guitar instruction and playing. Ahmad provided a good overview in the first lesson and then spent time with my daughter , teaching him the basic chords. In the course of 7 lessons, my daughter can play 21 chords and is also starting to play "Stairway to Heaven". Pretty amazing work in 7 lessons. Ahmad has provided my daughter with a curriculum and also provided us with tips on iPhone apps to use that allow my daughter to stay in rhythm and to tune his guitar. We will continue to have Ahmad teach my daughter guitar. Ahmad has definitely exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend Ahmad as your next guitar instructor."
