*I have experience in many areas of exercise and fitness, but I like to think outside the box, and I don’t actually enjoy going to the gym and “working out”. I much prefer efficient and fun means of exercise (so it doesn’t feel like a chore, but rather something I’d like to spend my time doing). If this is you too, great! We’re going to have a good time, look awesome, and feel amazing!
Your goal, should you choose to accept it: BE HAPPY & HEALTHY!
No, I didn’t say “skinny”, I said “healthy”. Often times when people want to lose weight, they are unhappy with their physical appearance which, in turn, makes them unhappy. They then focus on the immediate goal of shedding pounds because they don’t like the way they look 1st, and feel 2nd. I believe that you need to feel good to look good. Therefore, good health and weight loss has to start from within. Once you start putting the right clean food energy into your body, you will begin to feel better and happier, which triggers a ripple effect of positive transformation from the inside out. IT ONLY GETS BETTER FROM THERE!
Your body does all kinds of incredible things for you: it puts one foot in front of the other and walks hiking trails up mountains, it dances the night away at the club, it even reacts to something falling (sometimes before you even knew what was happening) to protect you from danger. Without your body's existence or good health, you couldn't do these things. Let's face it: your vessel is awesome! So, let's focus on taking care of it, so that for many years to come, you can have countless adventures with ease and be able to enjoy every moment of them!
A great place to start is by doing your detective work to see where you’re currently at:
What are you eating, how much, and how often? What do you do for exercise and how often do you do it? Do you sleep regularly, etc...? Ask yourself what your body needs? (It’s probably already trying to tell you-you just need to listen.) Learning and understanding your body (your physical vessel, as I like to call it) can be tricky, but it's important in finding your way to the healthiest you. Interpreting your vessel can be especially helpful when it comes to things like distinguishing a want (craving-often stemming from your mind) from a need (hunger- your body telling you it needs sustenance), and so on…
There’s lots more where this came from, which we will get to in our sessions!
A bit about me, my weight loss and health journey….
True Nutritional Neglect:
Although my weight does not define me, I know how yucky I feel as a result of eating poorly or lacking physical exercise, and how quickly bad habits can catch up to me now that I'm older and my metabolism is making me work much harder to keep up. I know the feeling of not being at that sweet spot (your comfortable weight) and the unkind and hopeless thoughts it’s accompanied by.
Standard Ideals of Weight:
For years I have been an artist in an industry that focuses largely on physical appearance, specifically weight and body image. As professional dancer, model, and actress, I've seen the sometimes harsh and seemingly unfair parameters that society has adopted and I am familiar with the scrutiny and body shaming that can come along with it, even having experienced it firsthand by being rejected or deprived of various positions/jobs. On the other hand (and also the opposite end of the weight spectrum), I myself, have been my worst and most detrimental critic.
After years of body dysmorphia, yoyo and fad diets, and eating disorders, I realized that none of them really worked, nor were they sustainable, and they certainly didn't make me feel any better. So I changed my ways. I radically altered my eating habits, which was surprisingly painless (unlike what I had expected). Soon after, I had more energy than I knew what to do with, so I used it to move (exercise in various forms), often multiple times a day. I felt my body shift positively towards its strongest, fittest, best, self. My mind followed.
I have since learned a lot about my body and how to take care of it. I am now at a place in my life where I realize the importance of being healthy-for energy, longevity, and happiness. I have successfully reached my most suitable and ideal weight through simple nutritional and physical fitness lifestyle adjustments/additions that I can maintain (and don't hate!)
I want to share my discoveries with you, so that you too can live your happiest, healthiest, most fulfilled life. Let’s do this!
