*Disclaimer* I'm currently not taking beginner students on voice/singing, guitar, bass, drums, piano, and ukulele. I highly recommend my studio partners Melissa though. Please check out her profile:
I've been playing with classical ensembles and rock bands since 2001. Even though I started on classical trombone and rock guitar, I have come to expand my repertoire to a variety of instruments and genres. During my time in college I performed with the University choir, orchestra, and band. I also have organized, wrote/arranged for, and performed with a variety of bands in my home state of New Mexico, as well as Japan, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Since 2006 I have been an active teacher. This profession has taken me everywhere from working with classical guitar cla
sses in New Mexico high schools to Elementary students in Japan to a variety of private students of various musical instruments and genres everywhere I've been. Since relocating to the Bay Area in 2010, I've had the pleasure of working with lots of great students from kids to adults with a wide range of ambitions. Since 2012 I've been running my own full time studio.
Philosophy of Learning
Lessons are generally designed to work towards giving students the tools to accomplish their goals and become increasingly independent over time. While all students will study similar fundamentals regarding technique, theory, and performance, every lesson is as different as every person. What kind of music do you want to make? I'll tell you what you need to do to get there, and help you take the steps to achieve your aspirations. It's really important to know though that everyone makes their own experience. The process of learning music involves you learning as much about your own mind and body as it does any external concepts, so please keep in mind only you can move yourself forward.
I also love to help students put together a song, record, and produce it for them so that they can have a recording to share with their friends and family.
I also hold events for my students. (Check out our pictures and videos below!) Younger students have opportunities to perform for friends and family at my studio every few months. Adult students also occasionally have events where they get a chance to get together and play music as well.
Aside from in-studio lessons, students also have the option to sign up for online lessons via Skype. (*Online lessons offered during different times than in-studio lessons.)
*Unfortunately due to scheduling issues, I'm not currently accepting students for bi-weekly lessons. I can do regular weekly lessons, or occasional drop-in lessons, but bi-weekly appointments make it really hard for me to give the best scheduled times to my existing weekly students. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

Jesse is very friendly and a fun teacher to be around.
I started playing piano when I was 3, and began writing music at the age of 6. I've taught music and piano for over 12 years, and tutoring other subjects for over 5 years.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I graduated from Cornell University in Electrical & Computer Engineering, with a minor in Music.
As a student, I was President of the Cornell Piano Society for 4 years. I spent much time teaching piano and music theory to fellow Cornell students, faculty, and staff. I've also organized many concerts, recitals, and events during my tenure.
After college, I went on to work for Intel & Apple as an engineer, while continuing to teach and tutor on the side. Later on, I founded my own startup company centered around Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and unmet needs in the B2C market.
I typically travel
to each student's home for lessons. I travel all around the Bay Area: as far north as Richmond, as far south as Los Gatos, as far East as Livermore (and every place in between, including the Peninsula).
I have taught may different kinds of subjects, ESL, Drug and Alcohol Education, Social services, in the past. Mostly, though, I have taught piano, my first and greatest love, starting in the 70's and off and on until I took it full time during the past 2 years. I develop special relationships with all of my students, and together with individually specific incentives, nearly all my students progress very quickly in their learning. I enjoy children of all ages as well as adults.
Great first lesson, really excited to continue learning from Judy!

Judy had my son up and playing in no time. She was great about setting a pace that will keep him challenged and confident simultaneously. He loves his lessons and looks forward to learning more. My youngest, after observing a class, has decided he would like to play too!

Judy E did good job for her first class. Both Andy and Jody like her. They are looking forward to the next class,
Angela Solis is a violin and viola teacher with more that 12 years of experience. She started her music studies in Spain, where she finished her Bachelor Degree in music in 2004 and where most of her performance and teaching experience was forged between the classical, contemporary and regional styles. Her experience in performance includes playing in several orchestras, ensembles, recording studios and as the lead singer and founder of her band “Costellas”.
Her teaching experience was also broadened when she decided to attend multiple Suzuki and Rolland method workshops in Spain and set off traveling around Asia, where Angela also worked as a Violin and Viola teacher and came in contact with the ABSRM system.
One of her greatest professional achievements was to obtain the Viola teacher position in the state music system in Spain. It
is a hard process that can take years and where one has to prove a high level in performance, teaching skills and instrument related knowledge. Angela got the 6th highest score in the test that year of 2008.
Being an instrument teacher is not easy, and teaching a string instrument is really hard during the first stages. Angela invested lots of time and effort promoting both instruments and motivating the scarce students she first got so they could thrive. Some of them pursue today successful music careers and the number of Viola and violin teachers in the school she started doubled in 3 years.
Nowadays, Angela lives in San Francisco, where she moved around 2 years ago, got married, and have some private students while taking private lessons herself from a teacher of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She is also learning composition and Music production and practices chamber music whenever she has the chance.

Great teacher. My son looks forward to his lessons.
I have been an educator for more than ten years. In that time, I've taught and tutored English, Language Arts and Spanish to students from elementary to PhD level. I also help students study for the SAT, ACT and TOEFL tests and coach students through the college and graduate school application process. I love teaching and learning. I am patient, enthusiastic and dedicated to my students.
My teaching philosophy can be summed up in a few words : learning should be fascinating, relevant, individualized and fun. Helen Keller said, “ A well-educated mind will always have more questions than answers.” My goal is to help my students ask the questions that will lead them to deeper understanding. The poet Mark Van Doren said, “The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” In our lessons, I will help you make discoveries that will ins
pire you to keep learning.
When I’m not teaching, I love reading, exploring the California coast, writing poetry, meditation and singing loudly.
I have been teaching piano and singing and have 6 wonderful years of experience.I love music with a passion and have been acting, singing and playing piano since I'm a little child. I am a young, friendly and enthusiastic teacher, and want all my students to achieve high results! I teach children in all ages, starting from 6 years old till 100! I graduated in UCD university with a bachelor of music , and have been played and trained by ear since I was 13 years old. I have played live piano by many concerts, choirs and events over the past 7 years. It would be my honor to teach you, and get to know you through a wonderful journey of music! Looking forward! Schedule a lesson with me today! I live in San Leandro

"I was pleased to be Tony's first principal. His knowledge of subject matter and interest in his students was exemplary. He was a devoted teacher who had
an enthusiasm for all aspects of his responsibilities and that zeal seemed to radiate toward those around him. "Elsa was an amazing French instructor for my daughters. She is patient (so so patient!!) and always positive and happy. She was always perfectly on time
and prepared completely for each and every lesson. Above all, she really engaged my girls with the French curriculum each week and they never complained about having their lessons. Elsa used a combination of books, songs, and online material to keep the lessons moving at pace and was brilliant at gauging when my girls needed to switch things up. She really made every lesson fun! I strongly recommend her to anyone."
"Wonderful teacher! She customizes my lessons specifically for me and what I need. Absolutely recommend!"
