I have about 10 years of experience tutoring middle school, high school, or college-level mathematics, as well as a B.S. and M.A. in math. I have helped students with subjects in algebra, college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus. Additionally, I have offered assistance with standardized tests such as the SAT. I have also taught high school and college math for a year each. Over these years, I've learned how to be more effective in breaking through any confusion that students had. I will hone in on all that's challenging you and work to refine your skills. I know that math can seem overly theoretical and abstract sometimes and as a result, it is crucial in making the concepts more relatable.

About Ozzie

Greetings students and hobbyists! My name is Ozzie. I have an M.A. in math from CSU Fullerton (I graduated in '14). I have about 10 years of experience tutoring math and about 2 years of teaching math. I have also played guitar for about 15 years. I have been playing in a church choir for about

Boost your motivation to improve your cello playing with a guided practice session. Even 20 minutes of practice a day is better than an hour right before your lesson or ensemble rehearsal, and you would be receiving tips from someone that has put in more than 10,000 hours of practice. Sometimes an impartial voice is all it takes to learn to love the discipline and start seeing real results!
You (or your child) must be enrolled in private lessons or a school string program to apply. If you are looking for a teacher, I'm available in the greater Boston area!

About Anna

I have a passion for training cellists to a high level of musicianship. I have mentored cellists from the first lesson through professional symphony auditions. I am certified with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and know the Suzuki Method intimately through growing up with the method myself

Anna is an extremely talented cellist. She plays with virtuosic technique, and she has great musical instincts. She has experience working with students from many backgrounds. She is patient, flexible, and energetic, and though I know her in a professional context, from what I've heard these traits certainly carry over into her teaching.
Angie
Wonderful teacher! She explains techniques in a way that is readily understood. I had previously struggled with certain learning curves where I'd hit a wall, and she helped me through them. She teaches with joy and passion!

I have spent the last several years tutoring English at the college and graduate school levels. While a student at Tufts University studying Early Modern English Literature, I began to tutor the English language, literature, and writing. I have since tutored for Longy School of Music and Peabody Conservatory, where I held a graduate assistantship in the Humanities and ran the Conservatory Writing Center. In my tutoring sessions, students will explore English literature, either as a companion to in-school curricula or as an independent project. I help students to approach complex literature with confidence; with me they improve critical and analytical thinking, research techniques, and essay writing.

About Dorothy

I am a violin and viola teacher born and raised in the Baltimore area. I have been teaching private lessons and group classes for the last eight years and studied both performance and pedagogy at some of the best music schools in the country. I most recently completed a Graduate Performance Diplo

Great experience

She did a wonderful job teaching Tara. Tara's viola technique really improved this year thanks to Dorothy's patience and hard work. Dorothy never missed a lesson and always came prepared for the next challenge. I must admit that I was hesitant to find a teacher using an on-line service but, Ihave been extremely pleased with our instructor and will miss Dorothy's guidance in our viola lessons.

Feedback for Dorothy

Dorothy has fabulous teacher. She is easy to learn from and doesnt get anoyed when you dont get things on the first try. This is great because as an adult I dont learn as quickly. Also, I am a college student (age 20) and she works with my school and work schedules. I really cant say how pleased I am with the quality of her teaching.

First 3 weeks...

Thank you for what you have done for Mechelle so far. She enjoys coming to lessons and feels very comfortable working with you. And it's nice to know that she's getting the attention and help that she needs to be successful in learning the viola.

"Tom’s lessons are packed with fun games and activities, e.g., interactive PowerPoint, whiteboard, rubrics, videos. My daughters ability and confidence rose significantly over the past month, partially due to understanding what’s required and knowing what’s on the Common Core Standards. I think this should be explained to all students."

"My 3 daughters looked forward to Tutoring Nights with Colin!

I have 3 girls in High school (10th, 10th, and 9th) . they had been struggling in math since I can remember. I didn't think I could afford tutoring. They each had an 'F' in math.

I found Colin, and what a blessing! In just THREE short weeks Colin had my girls understanding HIS lessons, their CLASSROOM lessons and PASSING their exams! They brought their grades up too!

The best thing I can compare his tutoring to is: an adult teaching a kid to ride a bike...
He didn't expect them to just ride a bike. he took the proper steps and taught my girls about the bike parts, the way the bike functions, how they all work together, how to properly sit and pedal, and he even held them up until they understood it completely and eventually were able to ride the bike on their own.

Thank you Colin! for putting my girls back on track with math!"

How to Write a Haiku | A Short History, and 7 Easy Steps

Interested in learning how to write a haiku? In this article, you'll learn about the rich history of haiku poems, and get to take a stab at writing your own. The haiku style actually originated from tanka, a short poem with a 5-7-5-7-7 syllable rhythm. Tanka was originally practiced by Japanese noblemen and Buddhist priests. During the 9th-12th centuries, writing tanka became a game called "renga," where one person wrote the first three lines of the poem and another person wrote the next t …
