Kevin is a fantastic instructor!

I have been taking private lessons from Kevin for two years now as we'll as receiving instruction in Band for the last three years. Kevin not only is an incredible percussionist himself, but he has a knack for being able to convey ideas to students that they can understand. New and better approaches to teaching rhythm, personalized lesson planning to suit a student's needs, and a vast knowledge of music from years of professional experience are just a few things that Kevin brings to the table. If you're looking for a percussion instructor, I would highly recommend Kevin as your first choice!

Mark is an excellent voice coach! He has been very helpful in teaching me breathing techniques, voice health, understanding my vocal range and how to improve my range. He has made me feel more confident in my abilities and I am looking forward to future lessons.

Thanks Mark!

I couldn't of picked a better voice instructor!

I've always been a confident songwriter but when it came to singing I struggled; especially with pitch. Thats when I started my lessons with Mark and right away knew he was the right instructor. Instead of making me follow some completely pre-scripted lesson plan, Mark helped me correct my pitch and overall singing while practicing songs I had written myself.

I've been working with him for almost two years now and I've noticed significant improvements across the board and have gained so much more confidence in my singing abilities. Enough that I actually just finished recording a 13-track album of songs all written and sung by me. I can't thank Mark enough for helping me follow my dreams and for continuing to help me grow as a singer.

You are doing a great job with Robbie. He is still having a difficult time remembering the chords and he refuses to practice at home because of this. If you could give him one song to remember to practice at home that may help. He would like to practice at home but he gets so frustrated because of his memory with this. Robbie also enjoys you.

Amanda Y.

Minneapolis, MN

About Amanda

Hi! My name is Amanda and I have been teaching private lessons since 2002. I teach both French Horn and Piano lessons in my home studio or at your home. I believe that everybody learns differently so there is no "cookie cutter" lesson plan with me. Your lessons will be tailored to your musical interests and style of learning. Young beginning piano students can expect to learn theory through games and coloring projects for example. I strive for a dynamic studio so that all involved have fun learning.

I am also a registered Wunderkeys instructor. Wunderkeys is a piano method specifically desi
gned for preschoolers aged 3-5 years old. Using pictures, rhymes, singing, games, and more, lessons are so much fun that students don't even realize they're learning! Children don't need to have any musical background or knowledge to learn with the Wunderkeys method.

I hold a Bachelors degree in French Horn performance from the University of MN-Duluth with piano being my secondary instrument. I also hold a Master's Degree from Wichita State University. I held the position of Assistant French Horn in the Wichita Symphony and have freelanced and subbed with numerous orchestras and groups in the midwest including the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra.

My 8 year old son has focusing issues and is tough to reel in at times. He loves his lessons with Amanda. She makes them fun by playing games and helping him write his own music. She is so patient and calm with him. He looks forward to his lessons and always wishes he could say longer. I would highly recommend Amanda!

Sara S.

Minneapolis, MN

About Sara

Sara is a musical theater performer AND a teacher. You get the teacher part and the experience advice from an actress that still works in the theater world as a performer.

Sara S has been trained by many vocal teachers throughout the years. Starting private voice lessons at age seven, she took lessons from Kristy Wisso, and Bruce Messer at the beginning, winning talent contests like The Minnesota State Fair Talent contest, all over the state of Minnesota even as young as ten years old. She started taking voice from Shannon Unger at MacPhail Center of Music in Minneapolis in high school a
nd then took lessons from resident artists at The Minnesota Opera Company during her year long internship there in 2004. She then took private lessons during college in New York City from well-known opera singer Catherine Christensen. She currently is taking voice lessons from singer/teacher/director Courtney Crouse, who recently moved to Oklahoma to become assistant professor of voice at the prestigious Oklahoma City University. She now Skype's their lessons over the internet.

Other than her private studio, Sara also taught musical theater classes and private voice lessons at The Studio Performing Arts School in New Canaan, CT for two years, and was a guest instructor at Laurel Arts theater camp in Somerset, PA this summer. She has recently accepted a teaching artist position with the Minnesota Opera Company.

Sara's teaching includes all types of music; musical theater, opera, classical, pop, and folk. Any gender and any age are welcome to sing with Ms. S. She likes to focus on making the singer feel comfortable and confident in their own unique voice. She emphasizes breathing skills and getting back to the basics of filling the room with sound in a healthy way. Her way of reaching freedom in someones specific sound is by using physical and mental exercises to get sound fluid and moving breath through the body, and then working on a song, of the singer's or Sara's choice. She can also help with learning rhythm, sight reading, and harmony.

Sara's experience in vocal training allows her to identify what would benefit your voice. She has different warm ups and techniques that will aid you not just in the sound you are looking for but prepare you for all types of singing. What I really like about these lessons is that I have pinpointed the weaknesses in my technique, that I myself could not identify, and that I leave with the ability to work on those weaknesses . Sara is really cool and down to earth making it it a comfortable environment to work in. Lastly, she has a singing cat which you need to see...I kid you not.
