About Mark
Dear Students and Parents,
You have come to the right guitar teacher if you are looking to start playing guitar, if you are giving a gift to someone to start lessons, or if you have played for a while and are looking to take your playing to the next level. I am an accomplished guitarist with a Performance Degree from Southern Methodist University with a passion for helping others learn and grow. I am a very calm, patient and encouraging teacher. I have the gift of taking someone with either no experience or a lot of experience and help them to realize their dream of playing better, either just for fun or for playing in front of an audience. I make lessons fun and enjoyable and at the same time challenging so that my students can see---and hear---their playing improve.
Making music makes me happy and I want to share that experience with
you or your child on the guitar. The guitar is a great instrument for sharing the joy of making music.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my page and I hope to see you soon!

Mark F.

*** Lesson Details ***
I've had some great guitar teachers in my life and I've learned a lot from them about music and playing the guitar. I will use what my teachers taught me to help you or your child learn how to play the guitar. I teach beginning to advanced players (except for classical guitar which I teach beginning to intermediate levels), kids and adults, and will work with you in a fun and challenging environment to make sure you are getting the most out of your investment. I am a very calm and friendly teacher who will make our lessons fun while also encouraging you to make progress. I will strive to keep you motivated to improve and will document your progress with the use of technology like audio recordings and video so you can see and hear your progress. I like to work from guitar method books so we can establish specific and measurable goals, but I do respect and accommodate different learning styles. And, of course, we will work progressively on any songs that you have your heart set on learning so that you can soon be playing the music that you love!
I believe that there is always room for improvement. I continue to look for new ways to improve my own playing. I am sure that I will be learning some things from you, too, so let's get started!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I currently teach in the living room of my home while my basement music room is being remodeled. I provide a music stand, a metronome, a tuner and recording capability so students can see and hear themselves play. I expect the student to bring his or her own instrument and to purchase the book(s) that we'll be working from.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a small amp for electric guitar if the student doesn't have one. I expect the
student to provide his or her own instrument, a music stand, and to
purchase the book(s) that we'll be working from.

*** Specialties ***
I can teach you to play guitar in any style of music that you want to play, from folk to rock, country to classical and bluegrass to contemporary Christian. I specialize in fingerstyle acoustic guitar that I have adapted from my many years of classical guitar training, but I also love to play the electric guitar, too.

About David
I am an experienced accordion teacher and performer, offering lessons at all levels from beginner to advanced in my home near Rosedale and the St. Paul campus of the U of MN. I especially enjoy working with children and with adult beginners. For those who do not own an accordion, I have accordions available for rental and can also help you purchase a quality used accordion at a reasonable price.

My background: I have been giving accordion lessons for ten years and have been performing on accordion for (has it really been that long?!) over fifty years. I originally studied accordion at the Henry Johns studios in Allentown, PA, and later studied with Dee Langley in Minneapolis. I have performed with the group Mosaica, which has appeared regularly at Kramarczuk's in Northeast Minneapolis and has also been featured at venues such as Polish
Festival in Minneapolis and Festival of Nations in St. Paul. I also perform in a smaller three-person group, known as the Accidental Trio. As a solo musician I have performed for many special events, such as weddings and parties. I have frequently been called upon to play accordion in pit orchestras for musicals, including "Fiddler on the Roof" (5 different productions), "Cabaret," and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

My son has taken other music lessons in the past and never come out of the lesson with the joy and excitement to get to work and practice as he does after working with Lars. I have seen his skills improve dramatically in a short time to the point where he moved from a beginning percussionist in his high school band for the very first time to first chair of his instrument. He is motivated to create music as well as practice the exercises Lars gives him. He is constantly talking about what Lars has taught him and has been passing on his new skills and knowledge to students he is helping at school. My favorite part of the lesson is coming in at the end and hearing the excitement about the music they are working on from both my son and Lars. I often suspect that Lars is having as much fun as he is! That is invaluable. My son grew up with both parents performing and practicing around him and nothing ever got him as excited about music as this time working with Lars.

About Kseniya
I have been teaching violin from young children to beginner adults for 10 years. I also teach piano for beginner and intermediate levels.
I believe that the the music potential comes through discipline, self-motivation and passion. As a teacher, my goal is to get to know each of my students and create individually tailored lessons according to my student's needs and goals. I believe that a strong technical foundation is a key in music making - when a student feels comfortable playing the instrument , they find how much they are capable of doing and what a great joy is this music making process. This is why I put a strong emphasis on the technical aspects. They say "practice makes perfect", but in reality only perfect practice makes your playing perfect, in other words, my goal as a teacher, is to give my students all the right tools to
succeed, when after each lesson you feel that you improved your playing and gained new skills, even if its a small one.
Lessons are taught using a Traditional method refer to students learning to read music. Whereas the Suzuki Method students learn by ear which I (might) use for very young students age 3-5. For older students I use certain aspects of the Suzuki method but definitely incorporate basic theory and note reading as early as possible.
All students will have the opportunity and are encouraged to perform in recitals.

AVAILABILITY: The calendar here is not up-to-date and still on a summer schedule. I mostly teach M-Th (depending on my schedule Fr and Sat are possible). Lessons are scheduled on an individual basis based on my schedule and student's availability. Please send me a message what days/times you are looking for, and I'll get back to you. Thanks!

I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. I will also be attending the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities for a Master of Music degree in performance as well. I hope to continue my education and pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree within the next few years.

In the eleven years I have played saxophone, I have participated in a wide variety of ensembles. I have played lead alto saxophone in my undergraduate jazz band my entire four years there and principal saxophonist in the wind ensemble my senior year. I have also participated in pit orchestra, playing clarinet, flute, and soprano saxophone, saxophone ensemble, and in a backup band for a show choir, Kids from Wisconsin, playing alto, tenor, and soprano. I have also recently been awarded the Tony Winters Ins
trumental Music Award for extraordinary musical performance.

With knowledge in jazz, classical, and pop saxophone, I am able to teach all ages and ability levels in one, or all three of these categories. I have had a few students over the past six months and absolutely love teaching them. We have covered technical skills, repertoire, and saxophone basics. Whether it's a 30 minute lesson or a 60 minute lesson, I make every second count! I work in a relaxed environment and make it fun and productive for all ages. I am willing to do lessons online or in-home.

My passion for music has no limit and I really want to share that with any and every student. I strive to be a positive influence in the music teaching world so that students can carry a firm foundation of music for a lifetime. I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a better musician!

About Phil
I’ve developed a unique approach to understand the guitar and bass. Whether someone is a beginner or even advanced. I’ve found a way that gives new insight to the instrument.

Even those who are advanced have commented, “My playing has gotten so much better – people are complimenting me on how much I’ve improved.” and… “You’ve really opened up the instrument to me.” One former student who had been playing 50 years prior to coming to our studio said, “I’ve learned more from you in the past 6 months than my last 30 years of playing!”

I’ve learned a lot from my students as well. Due to my open style of teaching. I’ve designed alternate ways for students to learn.

When I started teaching I was pretty set on each student having to learn how to read music. However, I found not everyone had this desire. This has led me to design differe
nt ways to learn music. I teach students ways to understand where the notes exist on the neck by reading chord charts and seeing patterns. Using these various methods they still learn the entire neck.

I now have two distinct paths a student can take:

If the student wants? Teach them to become a skilled sight-reader.
If the student is not interested in sight-reading? Teach them to understand music in a non-traditional path.

My Goal: To help others learn the guitar in the most time efficient manner possible. And, in a way that will cut years off the traditional methods most guitarists learn with!

I’m happy to announce that I’m finally able to accept students in my little home studio!

I’ve been teaching drums for about 20 or so years, on and off. At one time I had more than 30 students during my stint as the drum instructor for Crossroads Music, a mid-sized music store in Monrovia, Ca. I’ve taught experienced and in-experienced drummers, both young and old, and have therefore developed methods of quickly improving the skills of my students across a wide spectrum of abilities. My studio features a dual student/teacher drum set-up, which I’ve found is most effective for communicating and demonstrating ideas during the course of a lesson. In addition, I have a large collection of books and DVDs that are a valuable resources in the process of teaching.
