    About Nathan H.

After 18 years in my hometown of Starkville, I moved to Hattiesburg to major in Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi. By the end of Freshman year, I was sure that I needed a second major, and Spanish was the first subject to come to mind. I fell in love with the language as a high-schooler and eventually found myself in an exchange program in Spain for a semester during my Junior year. Recently, I earned my TEFL/TESOL certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) through an intensive, four-week course in Costa Rica. As part of our final requirement, I was able to gain hands-on experience teaching one-hour classes to Costa Rican students. I am open to tutoring in any particular sector of Spanish or English as a second language. I have completed classes on grammar, writing, cultures & civilizations, and even the culinary arts as part of my Spanish degree; my TEFL/TESOL program included modules covering lesson planning, class management, grammar, vocabulary, writing, test assessment, and other relevant language sectors. I try to be flexible with time, and while I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, the lesson for a cancelled class may be moved to the next meeting time. Class schedules are constructed around student's needs, but I will be unavailable until around 3:00 pm on weekdays starting Sept 15th. I will tutor for specific struggles such as pronunciation or grammar-- if a student would like to bring his/her work with her we can work on those specific assignments. I can also design a series of lesson plans for those seeking to learn more generally over the course of designated days/weeks/months. I look forward to hearing from you!
