    About Kylie D.

Hi! My name is Kylie and I am an experienced Spanish and ESL Tutor. In 2011, I obtained a B.A. degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Lawrence University; as well as completed a senior experience titled A Spanish Compilation: Studies of Bilingual and Bicultural Education through a Latin American Perspective. As part of my degree at Lawrence University, I had the opportunity to study Spanish and education in Santiago, Chile. During my time in Santiago, I held an internship at El Colegio San Alberto Hurtado, where I spent three days a week as an Assistant English Teacher working in classes ranging from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. From 2011 to 2014, I worked in Santiago, Chile as an ESL teacher in a low-income high school. This experience was extremely challenging, but overall allowed me to grow exponentially as a teacher. Over the course of my year at the school, I overcame many cultural obstacles, mastered the Spanish language, and had the opportunity to work with a number of extremely experienced teachers. Aside from working in the school in Santiago, I also worked as a private English and Spanish teacher. I taught English to Chileans of all ages as well as Spanish to foreigners that were living and working in Chile. Throughout this experience I learned a lot about private tutoring and creating personalized lessons adapted to the individual needs of each student. I have recently returned to Minnesota in order to pursue a Masters in Elementary Education at the University of Minnesota. I am looking for opportunities to tutor part time while I am going to school. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to set up tutoring sessions for you or your children!
