I fully enjoy teaching music and theater to others and spreading the art of performance, reaching out to all generations. I believe in customizing every lesson to be unique for my students in a way that will serve their individual needs. I teach with patience and encouragement and believe that students prosper and improve much more from a positive experience. My lessons are intended to be fun and influential in a positive light that can lead to a rewarding career, hobby, or just for personal enjoyment!
Every since I was a little girl, I have been devoted to the arts. When I began college, I knew that music was my path. As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I received my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women the Musical, Seussical the Musical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer at churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to perform and study music because performing is a part of who I am and I could never live without it.
With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life then they WILL achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

I do not use a set curriculum. I prefer to discuss goals and music with my students and their parents to determine what genres, styles and techniques they are most interested in. I then use techniques I have gained through experience along with songs and classical exercises to develop strong technique, a developed ear and the ability to read music. I do expect students to be disciplined, practice regularly, and be prepared for lessons, enabling them to expect the same from me. Whether a student wants to be a classical virtuosi or learn how to play a song they heard on the radio, I will keep the lessons fun and interesting for anyone willing to practice and learn, and I will always to my best to cater to the student's individual needs and goals.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide all copies of music, handouts, exercises, etc. Students are expected (when applicable) to have an instrument in good, working condition.

I form all of my lessons around being able to learn, memorize and play songs, read written musical notation (along with sight-reading & technical exercises), and improvisation (based on scales and exercises).
For guitar and it's relatives (bass, mandolin, ukulele, banjo) I can teach any style or genre of music, including modern tapping techniques, and I also teach TAB notation.
I teach both classical and popular piano, usually combining classical sight reading exercises while learning both classical and popular repertoire.
I have experience acting and singing on stage in both non-musical and musical productions, as well as five years of classical vocal experience singing in high school and collegiate ensembles. Being in these environments has equipped me with the tools and exercises to be able to teach everything from basic singing to fundamentals in broadway and opera.
I also have a small studio in my home where I write and record, providing me with the opportunity to also teach recording, songwriting and music theory.

Hello! My name is Chris. I'm a private tutor and piano teacher in and around Seattle. I have a terrific time learning about the things I enjoy in life. I would like to share this kind of fun with you or your son or daughter!
Piano lessons and tutoring. Reading, writing, math, test prep, etc. Affordable, fun, professional, effective.
Academics: B.A. from Columbia, 2370 SAT (800 Math, 800 Reading, 770 Writing), 1590 GRE (800 Verbal, 790 Math), seven years' tutoring experience, all ages, almost all abilities.
Piano: repertoire from Beethoven to Chopin to Ravel to Mussorgsky, experience as a symphony and opera critic in college, comprehensive knowledge of classical music and music theory, 15 years' experience playing, all ages, beginner to strong-intermediate abilities.
Academics: I tutor because I want to work against the worst aspects of school, and embody the best ones. I tutor to make school more worthwhile and more fun for my students. I tutor to relieve anxiety and frustration and stress. I tutor to help students cultivate their sense of curiosity. I'll raise your or your kid's grades by putting school in the right context, and giving them the skills to deal with it, emotionally and intellectually.
Piano: My lessons are fun. I love music, and I can help you love it too! I want to teach you how to play what you want to play, how you want to play it, and to that end I promote a relaxed atmosphere while also gently emphasizing technical skills to bring out your musicality. This doesn't mean you won't learn --” quite the contrary! --” it means that you'll be put in a better mindset to learn, since you'll have a great time coming to lessons and you'll want to practice. I can motivate you to discover what you like most about music and enjoy the gift of musicianship well into adulthood.
Reading and writing: Everyone needs language skills. With the rise of the Internet, the increasing difficulty and subjectivity of college admissions, and the competition for scarce jobs hinging on resumes, interviews, and communication skills, a proficiency in reading and writing is more critical than ever before. I've written for, and been paid by, several different websites on topics ranging from modern TV to old literature and card games. I was an English literature student at Columbia. I read and write compulsively. I tutored writing in 2007 to students ages 9 to 18, and was a content editor and proofreader for a boutique educational-software firm in 2007, 2008, and 2011-2012.
Math: Nearly every math class could be aced by a majority of students, but math is poorly taught. I can help by teaching conceptually. In high school, I was three years ahead in math, finishing AP Calculus AB as a sophomore, AP Statistics as a junior, and AP Calculus BC as a senior. I scored a 5 on each of those AP tests. I played poker (a math-based game) professionally from 2010 to 2011.
Test prep: Test-prep is one of the easiest and cheapest investments you can make. My SAT score was 800 in Math, 800 in Reading, and 770 in Writing. My GRE scores were 800 in Verbal and 790 in Math. I got 5's on the AP US History, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, and Statistics tests, and 4's on the English Language and Composition and European History tests. As a gamer, I'™m well-versed in the 'strategic' aspect of test-taking.
It's important to me that my lessons remain affordable to maintain the kind of diversity and plurality of experience in my students that makes education worthwhile.. For music or academic tutoring, my rate is well below the industry standard at expensive aggregators.
If you're interested in my services for any of these subjects, please don't hesitate to contact me!

~ I am a Millennium Academy graduate who breaks down all of the complexities that are found throughout math and science. I have also taught many middle-school children math and science overseas and participated in several volunteer mentoring programs throughout my community.
I personally love geometry, because it is one of the easiest, but yet most challenging to students. I am patient and understanding, because I have worked with a diversity of people over the span of 16 countries throughout the world, as well as contributing to an 'A' that my doctoral student earned in her statistics assignment. I am majoring in mechanical engineering, so naturally, I maintain an exemplary study ethic that inspires my students to achieve more.
All in all, I bring results. I know how to relate to my students, by incorporating some of the things that they like (sports, hobbies, music, etc...) into their most challenging courses in order for them to eventually foster a passion for them. I make a conscious effort to work at each student's own paste, essentially building up on their weak points and refining their strong ones. I make sure I decompose enigmatic topics into components the can be more easily gestated by my students, effectively increasing their grades and giving them self-confidence and optimism for their future of academic pursuit. I guarantee commitment, punctuality, and a passion for training my students to be the best.
I am also freshman in college who loves sharing his knowledge with others. I was always the kid in class who was always trying to make all of the rest understand. In my junior year, I tutored Seniors math for their ACT test. I scored a 30 myself. Their scores improved by huge margins in a fortnight due to their devotion to my tutoring methods. Although I am young, I am also well learned. I have been to over 16 countries in the world, including France, the UK and even Djibouti in the horn of Africa. As a result of these extended expeditions, I can fluently speak French and can partially speak Spanish. I am well versed in math and in the natural sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) as well, and provide tutoring services in those fields. I have completed AP Calculus in my senior year, and I have completed Chemistry II, Physics II and Biology II(I also tutor in those fields, as well as French) during my voyages. I have also been to winner of many STEM-related competitions, by demonstrating exemplary leadership qualities and brainstorming up blue-sky ideas. I am a Mental-math prodigy and a great tutor, and I am the paragon of patience and understanding. Watch as you astound yourself by rapidly taking the reins in your previously 'toughest' courses. ~
As I mentioned above, I have traveled to many places in the world. Between those places I've met a plethora of people who fostered vast disparities in personality, opinion, socio-political viewpoints and even language. Nevertheless, they all shared one common similarity: they all had potential. Many of the great thinkers in our textbooks were not born with the abilities that we so vividly depict them with. Many of them had innate talents and potentials that were honed by individuals. These 'Individuals' unveiled the hidden talents of these prestigious polymaths, which paved the way to their memorial legacies. In its most fundamental definition, these 'individuals' were tutors. Like a hammer and anvil to steel, they molded these seemingly innocuous characters to be the Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton and George Washington Carver, we all know so well. They sat on the shoulders of Giants per se. And I intend to elevate my students to those shoulders.
