As a singing teacher in Knoxville, I have been so blessed to live in a city where programs for the arts are growing. Unlike many other cities across America, including my hometown, Orlando, where funding for the arts is being cut, Knoxville is actually thriving in this realm. The Symphony, the Knoxville Opera Company, theater programs, musical venues, art galleries, etc. are all gaining budgets rather than slicing them. I am fueled by my excitement for what is happening in this area. I have students coming to me everyday wanting to learn, experience, and participate more in everything that is going on! The energy and excitement is cyclical from the community, which includes individuals such as my students and myself. I strive to use this energy to propel my students forward with the correct techniques and confidence that they need to succeed. I want to provide my students with the opportunity to succeed as far as possible during this exciting time in Knoxville! In particular, one of my singing students has been progressing and I have noticed her confidence growing with each lesson. When she first began singing lessons, she was shy and timid; she now sings and performs like a professional. Not only has she improved as a singer, but in all aspects of her life she has matured into a beautiful and confident young lady. She now walks with an air that says, “Here I am. I am a singer and I am going to show you what I can do!”
