Barbara M. Virginia Beach, VA

About Barbara

Music has been an integral part of my world, playing a major role in both my personal and professional life. I embrace the chance to be immersed in it, to share my enthusiasm for and expertise in the area of the music education experience, promoting creative development and student performance skills. I am an original New Yorker, but have lived in Virginia Beach for the past 12 years. I began studying piano at the age of 8 and have not stopped playing since. It is a gift and a joy to be able to share my love of music performance with people of all ages and abilities. I have also sung in many choirs in addition to performing professionally on the piano and the guitar, both as a soloist and ensemble member. I rejoice in the success that I see in my students as they learn and gain ...

I would like to write a follow up review about Ms. Barbara.

I have been taking singing lessons for about 5 months with Ms. Barbara.
When I came to Ms. Barbara I had a few hurdles I needed help and assistance in. The end goal was to be able to have my performance on stage. Ms. Barbara composed the right vocal exercises for me to practice so my voice becomes stronger and more stable, that the breath taking is correct and will allow me to hold the notes i need better and even sing high notes.

I went on stage feeling happy, excited and confident. My performance was a success!
Thank You Ms. Barbara!!

Barbara is very musical, very talented and very attuned to my needs. She is not only a singing teacher or a pianist, she is all and more. Most importantly, she is a mentor.
I highly recommend Barbara.

Robert has the great ability to combine theory with fun! He quickly assessed where I needed the most work and tailored his lessons to those areas. He's very professional, positive, and encouraging. I would highly recommend Robert to anyone interested in learning or improving upon their piano skills!

Robert is absolutely wonderful! My 7 year old daughter is autistic and her attention span is very short. Robert is always very patient with her and praises her learning. He took the initiative to research different ways to approach her piano lessons so her learning was more effective. He is punctual and respectful to everyone in the house (including the needy french bulldog) He is very good at what he does. What a great person to shape the future of music!

My 6 year old daughter loves her piano lessons!

My 6 year old daughter has been taking weekly, in-home piano lessons with Dan for several months now. Dan is great at keeping her focused, while making it fun. She has already learned so much from him, and she looks forward to her lesson every week. Dan is very professional and punctual. We have been very happy with his teaching, and highly recommend him!
Thomas S. Virginia Beach, VA

About Thomas

National Merit Scholar with Bachelor's degrees in Neuroscience and Music Composition. Highly trained and distinguished violist and composer since 1995. In my past tutoring and teaching, I have found that students have had the best experience when we work together to discover why each subject is important to the student- whether they know it yet or not. People surprise themselves when they find the right angle from which to view a formerly dreaded topic. Similarly, in music lessons, I am most interested in how the student relates to music. If you want a teacher who molds you into the image of a virtuoso violinist or teaches you to compose music that sounds like the teacher's, another teacher could help you more directly than I. But for students that want to explore the connections ...

Mr. Jeff is so talented, and works very well will children. My 12yr old thinks he's awesome. After each lesson my son talks about what he learned with excitement. Before leaving each lesson, Mr. Jeff will ask my son and me to give him feedback and if there is anything we would like to change/do, just let him know. And forget about talented, that speaks for itself once he picks up those sticks. But most of all we appreciate his patience and great instruction. Totally feel lucky to have found him. Definitely a prize Instructor, that I would recommend hands down.
Lydia M. Chesapeake, VA

About Lydia

When I was about to turn 8, I asked my parents for a violin as a birthday present! I have loved playing ever since. My mom is a piano teacher, so I learned to play the piano as well. I have played in orchestras, chamber strings, and quartets in Paraguay, Brasil, Guatemala, and the United States. The beauty of music is that it crosses all borders! I was born and raised in Paraguay but I came to the USA to go to college. Currently, I am working on a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I'm optimistic, responsible, and want to help others reach their full potential.
