About Kevin
I have had a fairly diverse musical background, including playing with bands and orchestras, as well as participating in choral groups and opera. I have a master's degree in music performance for wind conducting, and a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on piano performance.

I have taught private lessons for several years now and I love every moment with my students! I have a real passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with others, both failures and successes. I believe everyone has creative potential, and I believe music is a real universal art form that anyone can tap into if they want. Above all, making and creating music should also be fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I try to keep my lessons professional but comfortable too. I don't yell at students for messing up or anything like that. I usually have an agenda b
ut am willing to adjust and compromise if the situation dictates. If you don't have a curriculum in mind, I like Alfred's piano courses, but will do my best to find one that fits you as a student best. My initial goals are to make sure the basics of reading music and performing are set so that no matter what musical avenue you want to pursue, you will be successful. I do specialize in classical music but enjoy creating and playing in other genres as well.

I now also offer lessons online, as well as tutoring in most math areas!

***CANCELLATION POLICY***
I kindly ask for 24 hour notice whenever possible if a lesson is going to be missed. Generally speaking, if I don't hear from a student and their lesson time passes I will mark the lesson as missed, but I am also usually more than willing to make up the lesson at a later time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a piano keyboard at my home.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would expect students to have their own instruments as needed, as well as music paper, pencils, etc. I may be able to provide some of those materials on occasion as well as some books/recordings, but will by and large expect students to purchase those for themselves.

*** Specialties ***
I am much more familiar with classical styles and Broadway. My music writing style tends to be somewhere between neo-classical and avant-garde.

About John
I have been teaching young people and adults how to play musical instruments for over 20 years. A lot of my students are well on their way to a rewarding future with music, some as professionals and others as hobbyists. In addition to being a teacher, I am also a professional performer who has worked in a wide variety of styles and I have a Masters degree in music composition and theory.
One of my main specialties is working with very young students and total beginners. There is a special skill to teaching young children that can only be developed through experience. For the older student, or the student who already has a musical background my specialty is helping you learn the styles that have always been of most interest to you. I can also help older students gain a broad understanding of music through some basic music theory.

***
Lesson Details ***
I can teach piano or keyboard to beginners and up to advanced students. On guitar and woodwinds I can teach beginners and up to intermediate level students.
My teaching style is fairly relaxed and very positive, but I will try to keep the lessons on a course that is going to benefit you the most. For younger piano students and beginners I prefer the Alfreds piano system. The songs in the Alfreds books allow for immediate playing and note reading without any tedious memorization. The beginner books contain a lot of fun songs that kids really gravitate toward.
For older students I try to gear the lessons toward whatever musical style you prefer. For students who have only had traditional piano lessons I can teach you how to read pop and jazz chord charts, as well as how to turn those chord charts into fully arranged music. I can also teach improvisation and the skills that are required to play specific styles of music in a professional band.
For my younger guitar students I have a variety of beginner material I have collected over the years, but for my older students I prefer to work on songs of their choice.
My beginner woodwind students will work with a Yamaha method book, while older students can learn improvisation and theory if they like.
I also can lead Orff styled tuned percussion ensembles. The Orff style of music performance allows for students from entirely mis-matched musical backgrounds to play music together, even on their first day of class.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Many keyboards, guitar, bass guitar, saxophone, flute, and four Orff tuned percussion instruments.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide multiple keyboards, a guitar, saxophone, flute and 4 Orff style tuned percussion instruments, as well as countless books and literature.

*** Specialties ***
I play keyboards professionally in jazz, RnB, rock, reggae, Latin rock and other styles. I can help the student who has only had traditional lessons branch out and learn how to read chord charts, which in turn teaches them theory.
I am a certified Orff teacher as well.

John is a great teacher! This was my son's first piano lesson last night. He enjoyed it and also learned quite a bit during the half-hour session. My other son has been taking guitar lessons from John for over two years, and he has been a pleasure to work with during this time. We highly recommend him for lessons of various instruments!

Li-wen is a very good piano instructor. She explained the concepts and techniques clearly and gave me bunch of proven-advice to improve my piano techniques. Furthermore, she also taught me the musicality aspects of a piece so I can play it correctly and put an emotion on it. On top of that, she definitely helped me to build my piano skills from scratch in less than a year, so now i am able to play some classical music pieces (and a jazz piece as well) including Beethoven's, Clementi's, as well as Chopin's.

I have no doubt about her mastery of piano and believe that she is already a concert-level pianist. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to find an awesome piano instructor. Don't miss her before she is being busy with her piano recitals around the world!! :)

About Elisa
Hi, there! My name is Elisa Alfonso and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2012 and have loved helping my students learn and/or improve their flute playing, learn/improve their Spanish, and improve their general understanding of music. I went to East Carolina University and earned my BM in Music Performance and a BA in Hispanic Studies in 2016. I strive to make lessons both a fun and productive experience for students, and will use the educational goals that the student identifies to structure custom lesson plans for that student. I strongly believe in explaining the reasoning behind activities so students understand the goals that they are working towards in our lessons, and I am passionate about helping my students succeed. About Salvador
I have been a musician and teacher ever since I started learning how to play music instruments. I have always enjoyed and have been eager to share the musical knowledge that I learned from the very first music lesson I ever had; This feeling in me has never changed. I simply love to help people who want to learn new musical skills.
I am patien and encouraging, helping you to always believe in yourself, I beleieve and have the educational means to help you do it. Whether it is piano, guitar or some other instrument you want to learn, I can help you.

I was serious about music when I was 14 yrs old. I learned Classical/Jazz/Pop Guitar, Piano and Flute/Recorder/Alto Sax. As soon as I started learning I started teaching. In my church there were a lot of kids that didn't have the opportunity to learn music, so I volunteered; became their
music teacher passing on to them whatever I learned my self.
As I grew older I kept on studying and teaching music as a church volunteer and noticed that my own skills would dramatically improve just because I was devoted to my student's learning processes.
I went to college for Music Education to become a Music School Teacher. The education and experience I gain from college, drastically improved my teaching skylls and I was able to work as a Music TA for a private school in NYC, a Senior Chess instructor for afterschool programs and a Private Music Studio teacher, while at the same time I would have private students my self.
Nowadays I am an active music teacher and performer, looking for new students and opportunities to share the love of music. I always reach out to people who have musical interests and want to further develop or experiment with music.

I will be very happy to be your music teacher!
