Acting

Hi! I'm an actor, director, and playwright who loves sharing my passion for theatre with people of all ages. I have had the opportunity to train from some of the country's most exceptional theatre artists, and bring a wide array of tools to my work as an acting coach. I have a BFA and an MFA in Theatre Performance and continue to expand my own education with ongoing workshops and training opportunities.

I've taught acting at the college level and continue to direct and host workshops on a regular basis. In college, I was named a semi-finalist in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

I'm available for monologue coaching, audition preparation and coaching, scene/character work, as well as voice work like accents/dialects and healthy use of voice. I also work with non-actors who want to become more confident and relaxed public speakers.

As my student, you can expect a highly personalized experience. Whatever your experience, skill, or comfort level with performing is, I will work with you to make you a more present, spontaneous, and relaxed performer. Maybe you're just starting out as an actor and what some extra coaching. Maybe you've never acted before but want to give it a try. Or maybe you aren't interested in being on stage but want some advice on becoming an effective public speaker. I'm available for monologue advice, audition preparation and coaching, scene work, as well as general acting lessons or help with presentation and public speaking skills.

I believe in using what's unique about you as a person in your performance, so we'll spend time working together on how to bring out the "you" in your acting!

I believe in guiding rather than dictating, so I will always act as the guide to your discoveries rather than dictating what your performance "should" be. My background is primarily in Meisner acting work, so I will work with you to "act truthfully under imaginary circumstances". I also provide speech, voice, and movement work to supplement the acting work we're doing if you'd like.

My ultimate aim is for you to be totally comfortable and at ease taking lessons with me and, ultimately, as a performer! I work to create an environment where you have freedom to explore, experiment, and expect growth.

**Class Structure**
I strive to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere for my students where we can feel free to experiment and find the best parts of yourself as a performer. We'll start each class with a simple check-in and warmup and then transition into our work. What we do in each class will depend upon your specific needs and goals. I like to end each class with another check-in, where we can chat about anything we did that day and any goals you have moving forward.
