Acting

Carole's fifty-year career has spanned all phases of the entertainment industry. She was cast in the role of Velma in the original cast of "West Side Story" on Broadway. She was then chosen to recreate her role in the Academy Award winning film. She also starred in "Gypsy" with the legendary Ethel Merman creating the role of "Dainty June”.

Teaching is the natural culmination of her vast collective experience. She works with many Broadway artists in her “singing performance" and "acting" classes at New York's famed "Carnegie Hall" and the "Complex Theatre" in the heart of Film TV Theatre Row in Hollywood. Ms. D'Andrea has helped thousands of professional performers around the world prepare for and land jobs in the industry. She was recently selected as one of the top thirty acting coaches in Los Angeles. She is so delighted this past year to be able to now reach even more students around the globe with her new online coaching.

I have been teaching Actors and Singers in Carnegie Hall in New York City  and Complex Theatre in  Hollywood  for over  40 years . I just had my first lesson with Carole. She put me at ease immediately and brought such positive energy to our time together. Carole is someone who wants you to succeed. Her iconic resume includes acting, singing and dancing on Broadway and in movies. Carole's willingness to share her vast knowledge and experiences as a performer is a true gift. Carole’s class has been my artistic home for years. This is an empowering space. Class, every week, has me prepared to take artistic risks and push myself to the next level.

I've been working with Carole for over 25 years!  I first came into her class when I was fresh out of Grad School.  I had just graduated from an MFA Acting Program where I spent every day being told what I was doing wrong.  It was a little shock to my system to get to Carole's class and suddenly be told what I was doing right!  Carole gave me a space and the tools to not only discover who I truly was as an actor, but she helped me rediscover my joy of acting as well.  Carole doesn't break you down, she builds you up and in doing so empowers you to make smart, clear, strong, confident, creative, and personal choices in your work which will set you   apart from the rest.   This is why her students are constantly working  on Broadway, in major motion pictures, and on television.

Carole brings out the best in her students with her nurturing demeanor and plentiful tools she's developed during her years of experience as a dedicated teacher. I never felt safer with an instructor, which allowed me to be bold and fearless as an artist. My time with Carole was invaluable, not only as an actor, but in navigating life.

Carole is the most nurturing and positive teacher I have ever worked with during my 40 some year professional acting career. She genuinely cares, loves, and understands actors. She brings out the best talent in every individual who works with her.

I could go on and on about how Carole has helped me as an artist to be authentic and committed and truly in the moment, how she has upped my game technically, but with her empathy and experience, she has also brought out my confidence and strength in every aspect of the work...and life. She is truly one of a kind; caring, intuitive, and nurturing, and her feedback and adjustments are razor sharp and always hit the mark to make the work better and better. I've studied with her for years as both actor and singer, and she's made me appreciate more and more what I bring to the table as an artist. I could not recommend her more.

Carole D’Andrea is a must for anyone who is serious about the art of acting.  Carole is about finding your own authentic voice as an artist.  Her experience is invaluable and she draws on many different techniques that are congruent in finding your voice.  She strips away the artifice of what you should do and allows you to find on your own what really works to create the most compelling performance.  Caroles most desirable trait however, is her sincere effort to reach the heart and soul of every person she works with.  Her loving guidance helps one discover the true artist that you’re supposed to be.  I highly recommend Carole D’Andrea.

Carole’s Zoom class is a great place to workout a scene, monologue, or song.  The other students are all working, multi-discipline performers who give smart and meaningful feedback.  Carole creates a supportive class atmosphere (even on Zoom!). And she’s a great audition coach too.  Her approach is very positive and she is very intuitive.

Oh wow. So much to say about how Carole has helped me as an actor, but also as a person, getting my priorities straight about the work, and instilling the confidence that I needed to continue my career and my art. She is the most nurturing and intuitive teacher I've ever had, and her class provides a space to work on whatever you need to, from songs and sides to leading film roles and everything in between. I could not love her or her class more, and I've never been more at the top of my game, thanks to Carole.

Carole is one of the most nurturing, supportive, and effective acting teachers I have ever had. She knows that artists can’t create under pressure or criticism, and helping an artist to see their strengths is the best way to improve their performance. I was always that actor that just couldn’t cry, no matter how many tricks I tried, but I feel like I cry with Carole all the time just by her asking a simple question or giving me a tiny adjustment that makes a song or scene more personal (I jokingly call her Barbara Walters for her ability to bring out the waterworks). Most importantly, Carole knows when an actor has more inside them that’s ready to come out and when it’s best to just be gentle and not force it. Working with Carole has helped me become an actor and a singer with much more emotional depth and availability.

Carole is beyond a teacher. Her ability to really see who you are and help you to transfer all your individuality to any song ,monologue scene..is really something to witness. She basically is an incredible guide..she guides you to places you may never know you can reach..but this is her SUPERPOWER..because as soon as you experience all that you can do..you can do it again..with confidence and on your own.She helps you to believe in YOU and thus put YOU in everything you do. The transformations i have seen in actors in minutes under her CARE And expertise is really astounding..She doesn’t take the lazy route of critiquing everything so you feel like you are being TAUGHT SOMETHING “…she validates what’s working..makes suggestions…and then you see her magic at work..The proof is in the pudding as they say!..her artists are real and powerful communicators…her classes are transformational..above and beyond a standard Acting/Singing Performance class.Treat yourself!!!

I have been to many many many teachers and classes in my 30 + years and Carole is the only one I have found the 1- creates a very safe space to create, 2- she is like a seasoned heart surgeon and has this uncanny knack of transforming a performance whether it be a monologue/scene/song to a higher level and quickly. Actors transform under her care and expertise. She has been helping artists for over 30 years I believe and her statistics are what drew me in to her. Her Artists work, they nail the auditions/call backs. Carole knows what she is doing and she validates alllll the rightnesses and never criticizes in any negative way which is refreshing! Most teachers use "critiquing" as a tool...not Carole. Her students have been with her forever which also says a lot. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I can't say enough good things about Carole. She's given me the confidence to step forward into the places that have scared me. Always one to give honest and extremely valuable feedback. Carole is so so much more than an acting coach and teacher. I like to call Carole my secret weapon that has helped me have a successful career in the entertainment business. Much much love for her.

I have had the privilege to work with Carole since 2019. She has transformed me as an actor and giving me the confidence I need every time I go into an audition room or make a self tape.
