For beginning piano students, I use Marilyn Lowe's Music Moves for Piano series. If a student already has purchased piano books or has piano books from an older sibling, I would not ask the student to purchase more books until we had used what they already had to its full capacity. For adults and older beginners, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.

About Ceste

I'm a passionate, motivated instructor who loves working with students of all ages. In 2003, I graduated from Bryan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education with a vocal emphasis and in 2011, I graduated from James Madison University with a Masters of Arts degree in Music Educati

Ceste has a great ear and is willing to meet you wherever you are in your skill level. She cares about what kind of sound you dream of, identifies your natural strengths, and works those into realistic goals to work towards.

She practices using the Alexander Method. Her expertise in how the body affects the voice actually gave me a ton of useful information to successfully identify the cause of some chronic health/pain issues (although she never offers medical advice, I was able to integrate her feedback about what was affecting the quality of my voice into medical care with my Drs).

Thanks Ceste!

She is a really good teacher and teaches you step by step and helps you on things that you have trouble with and shows you ways to improve on something

Ceste is a fine piano teacher! Even though I was 64 when I started taking lessons, she reassured me that I'd do fine! She is very patient and easy to get along with. Always pleasant and very knowledgeable about her trade! She has a vast array of talents for her years!!

There is a potential in every person to be truly great at any one thing. All it takes is hard work and honest determination, with determination being the most important. Because where determination comes, hard work follows naturally.
I hope to inspire my students to really love making music and being creative with their instruments. I can give my students all the information in the world and tips on how to improve at violin playing, but in the end it will not matter if the student has no desire to improve. And that is why I love to teach- inspiring students to love what they do!

About Abigail

Abigail is a very helpful and patient teacher! She explains new concepts in a way that I can understand and she gives many helpful tips for practicing the pieces. She makes me want to practice and does a great job at helping me sound the best I can.

I love Abi’s class!! She is a great teacher and easy to work with. She is also very flexible to teach anything that you want to play. One of the best thing of her class is she always send you a class note after each class, which is very helpful for you to review and remind you what you’ve learned or tips from the class! I highly recommend her!

Abigail is a amazing teacher! Even though we were learning through online she made it fun and educational. She explained and gave examples that helped me understand and look at things in a different ways. She is very easy to talk to, kind, and funny person. Like I said I was learning with her online and l would absolutely want to work with in person.

Above all I want students to enjoy learning the piano. Most people start because they love a certain type of music or wish they could just sit down and enjoy playing. My goal is to make that happen. I teach all ages, beginners and intermediate levels. I think that lessons for children need a lot of variety so that they can learn from games, singing, clapping, movement and playing the piano. Of course, we all need singing, clapping, movement and playing the piano to learn but without the stickers at the end of your lessons!

About Nancy

Playing the piano and loving music has been at the center of my life. Aside from the happiness and fun it can bring, learning an instrument also teaches discipline and confidence which carry over into everything. I enjoy teaching both children and adults. As I teacher I am patient and encoura

What a wonderful piano teacher Nancy is! I am in my 50's and learning for the first time. Nancy made me comfortable, explains everything very well and I quickly learned how I needed to place my fingers and where my body should be sitting to play my best. By the time I was finished, I had an understanding of what and where the piano keys were and was capable of playing a simple song. I left with a great feeling of accomplishment. I am eager to continue and learn more!

Nancy is wonderful! She is very patient and encouraging with my 10 year-old daughter. She asks her questions and really listens to her responses which is building her confidence. My daughter is loving her lessons and I couldn’t be happier.

Phil is a consummate musician and is extremely knowledgeable and patient. He helped me to arrange several songs and encouraged me to write my own arrangements, as that really helps one better understand the instrument. I loved our lessons on learning all the scales and modes, too.

"After many years as a music educator, clarinetist, saxophonist playing with Army and concert bands, as well as dance bands, I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with Dimitri. Being retired , I made the decision to seriously play clarinet again. His skills, as a musician and teacher have helped me regain my passion for the instrument and ability to play at a high level. I would recommend him most highly."

"What can I say that hasn't already been said about Greg. From the beginner guitar player to experienced shredding virtuosos. Greg caters to each individual's needs and wants. As he says he is truly passionate about you and that innate ability of him carries over into his instructing.

As every great teacher I have ever known, he has a balanced approach to his delivery. He wants you to have fun, but he also helps you realize; to be good at playing any instrument... it also takes work and practice. However it's "applied" practice w/ tools to get you where you want to go faster than most other instructors!

5 Ways Microphones Have Changed the Music Industry

If you've ever stepped on stage to perform, you may not have thought much about the microphone you're about to use. But its history is actually pretty interesting, as music recording equipment has developed drastically since the first condenser microphone came on the market. These changes have made a big impact on the music industry as a whole, and, for better or worse, are here to stay. Power Requirement Without outside amplification, the loudest musician wins every time. But when you int …

The Shy Singer's Survival Guide

Getting up on stage can be scary for any new musician, but the feelings of anxiety can be even more intense if you consider yourself on the quiet side. So how can a shy singer survive? Before you relegate yourself to the audience for the rest of your life, know that many timid musicians have made a name for themselves - Barbra Streisand, Bob Dylan and Carly Simon, to name a few, have all dealt with anxiety or shyness off-stage.
