I enjoy helping people learn how to work with computers. I have been teaching software classes for 20+ years, and work comfortably with beginners, seniors and business clients.
I am often told I am a very patient teacher. I adapt my teaching style to each student and I can provide printed instructions for you to use after our computer lessons. I can help you learn what you need to know to use a computer expertly for work, for school or for yourself.
I have specialized in teaching QuickBooks for continuing education programs, community colleges and small businesses for more than 15 years.
I have taught Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word (for both Windows and Apple/Mac computers). I also have quite a bit of experience teaching MS Access, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Publisher, and Adobe InDesign, Adobe Dreamweaver, HTML for web p

Worst experience, complete waste of my money. I could write several paragraphs detailing all the things that occurred that frustrated me, but I will just list a few facts: Could not answer most of my process questions. Very frustrating, but Liz said she would get back to me on the 3 specific questions that I very much needed. I made sure to review the still open questions 2-3 times before the end of our waste of time session. She never got back to me, even after several follow-up requests.
No worries, TakeLessons has a Satisfaction guarantee, right? WRONG. Come to find out they will refund any unspent money. Because Liz demanded to get paid for her time, tho, I was 100% unhappy, TakeLessons refunded the $12 booking fee.
I tried and tried to get satisfaction from both Liz and TakeLessons before resorting to writing this review. I guess TakeLessona thinks it is OK for their instructors to not perform and still get paid. So disappointed in both.

As we had just started with quickbooks, Liz is a very informative instructor with a great deal of knowledge towards the program. She has an answer to any question you may ask and is very clear with her response.
Hello, my name is Joe. I am excited when I learn of new potential artists. My skills are well rounded and focused. I can teach you in many media applications and art forms. I am able to teach from basic drawing techniques to full Portrait art, Film & Digital Portrait / Fashion Photography and Image Retouching/ Manipulation. My forte' are Drawings, Acrylic Paintings, Charcoal Drawings, Photography and Digital image manipulation. I have been published in Art and Fashion magazines for my art. My goal is to teach you how to see the world around us as a canvas and cull your visions from it and recreate it to your desires. My goal is to have you gain a deep understanding of yourself as an artist and how to translate that onto/into your media of choice.
Explained what I needed to know very nicely and kept his teaching at a level very suitable for my current skill level. Will work a bit on the stuff we went through and do another follow-up lesson. Thanks

Guiseppe is great! He explained basic techniques very well and make sure I understand all before we move on the next.
I specialize in NYC Gifted & Talented Test, SHSAT, ACT and also TACHS/HSPT/COOP, SSAT/ISEE, Common Core, Regents, college/graduate admissions tests [i.e. SAT, GRE/GMAT]) and tutor a number of academic subjects in Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra), Statistics and Science (especially Physics). I have bachelor's and master's degrees in electronics engineering and business respectively and I enjoy tutoring both children and adults.
My interests also include gifted learning and STEM education. For example, I was successful in helping a 5-year old pass the NYC Gifted & Talented Test so he could enroll in any New York City school participating in the program.
Tutoring for yourself or for your son/daughter is both an investment in time and money for a future return so please also plan accordingl
y. Now, I make sure that I do not totally depend on tutoring for income so I can maintain a certain level of quality. In other words, when there is a match in objective, budget and schedule, I am quite happy to be part of someone's educational journey. I consider it indeed a very special privelege to be able to help a student because it is my experience that effective education can be life-changing. Finally, I am aware that other tutors may be in a better position to meet your existing situation so we have to accept that and move on.
Tutoring Rate (IMPORTANT): I only do in-person tutoring because I believe effective learning is multi-dimensional and personal not flat and distant. My rates for children and teens will in principle be at least the same as adults because I actually invest more time and effort since I have to consider the feedback of at least 2 individuals (student+guardian) compared with an adult student. Different arrangements possible on a case-by-case basis. Please see each subject rate for more details.
When I am not tutoring, I am involved in projects related to technology, hospitality and service industries. I also enjoy cooking especially when I can make an ordinary dish into something extra-ordinary by adding that little "extra."
I️ was connected to Rod through a tutoring agency. I️ contacted the agency because I️ recently graduated college and wanted to get into grad school but had not taken a math class since the 10th grade. The school I️ was applying to needed a minimum math score for the GRE, which I️ knew would be a enormous stretch for me. Additionally, I️ always had trouble with math and knew I️ would need a tutor to re-teach me everything I️ needed to know to get the score I️ wanted. Initially, the agency connected me to 3 different tutors who were all absolutely terrible! Sometimes they didn’t even know how to answer sample questions in the workbooks! Finally, I was connected to Rod. After our first meeting I️ knew he would be the one who would help me improve. After a month of intense work with him my GRE math scores actually improved a full 12 points! Beyond that, he literally taught me math in a way in which I️ actually understood it. Before I️ just thought I couldn’t learn, but now I’m confident that I️ actually retained everything and it even made sense! I’m so grateful to have met Rod because before him I️ truly felt hopeless. I️ would definitely recommend Rod to anyone who is looking to drastically improve their math skills. If you’re like me and hate math, can’t grasp it, and even feel like you just can’t learn it, then definitely contact Rod now! You won’t be sorry!

I initially reached out to Rod for Algebra 1 review because I felt that my daughter lacked a solid foundation in algebra. However, after a couple of sessions, we have decided to switch gears toward geometry with Rod’s recommendation. Throughout the geometry lessons, algebra practice was incorporated. I am happy that not only did Rod tailor his lessons to my daughter’s goals but also he gave her a lot of encouragement. My daughter found it extremely helpful that she got to explain and discuss with Rod, which made lessons interactive and real learning. Now going back to school, my daughter feels confident, thanks to Rod!

Rod worked with my daughter weekly for a couple of months leading up to the NYC state tests. With Rod's careful, concerted planning and diligence, my daughter's score went from 2.4 on the 7th grade Math state test, to a 2.8 in 8th grade, which equates to a move from below the 50th percentile, to between the 50th and 75th percentile. My daughter's in-school math instruction was chaotic and disjointed, and I attribute her improvement to Rod's intervention.

Best experience! My son who is on 6th grade had to take the SSAT in a short period of time and Chris got him engaged from the first class, not easy for an online class. He was easy to communicate and was open to work with our schedule. Thanks for all the work you did!

Great Algebra tutor! Chris was tutoring my daughter in algebra. He picked up very quickly to see where her weakness is. He is very patient and takes his time in making sure my daughter gets it done. Excellent tutor.

Knowledgable and EXTREMELY patient
Christopher came here to teach me pivot tables which I needed to know for work. I had no knowledge of what they were or did and when he left I had an understanding which I did not think I could achieve in such a short time. The patience he showed was wonderful as I was nervous and he put me at ease which is not an easy task! He also had to figure out what I need to do (in Excel)when I do not completely understand it myself but by the time he left, he understood and I am confident that I can succeed now and it is all because of Christopher!

Tano Brock is a 23 year-old singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Born and raised in San Francisco, CA, Tano began studying and performing music at a young age and had an almost super-natural knack for it ever since he began banging on a drum at only a few months old. Throughout his childhood, Tano accompanied his family to various music camps in California where he was exposed to music from all over the world. At 6 years old, he began studying darbuka, a Middle Eastern drum. He then started studying piano at age 7, and at 12 began teaching himself guitar. In his early teens he started playing saxophone/clarinet, as well as exploring the world of digital recording and production. At age 18, he released his self-produced debut solo album “Bandit” (2014) - which garnered significant success and launched his career as a com
poser for synch licensing. In 2019, Tano graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree focused on Music Production & Engineering. During his time at Berklee, he explored his deep affinity with world music traditions and traveled to Turkey and the Balkans to study with master musicians, and to Cuba to record a session at a studio in La Habana Vieja. He currently leads a Balkan brass band called Sarma Brass Band, which has performed venue such as the Grand Prospect Hall in NYC and the House of Blues in Boston.
