Music Theory

Teaching music is one of my joys. I value each student and the time I have with them; helping them to explore the world of music. After each lesson, my students walk away with a deeper understanding of music and have enjoyed their time. Music is a lifelong skill that can always be practiced and built upon. I can and have taught all age ranges.

 I received a BA in Music and have  graduated with a Juris Doctor.

I am a composer of music and have experimented with many music theory concepts. I composed for the Classical Guitar, Rock Band, various Classical configurations, and Jazz Ensemble.

I have played in various ensembles ranging from rock, jazz, and classical on both the guitar and bass. I can teach a student to follow a conductor, follow cues, and to use dynamics with an ensemble.

*** Lesson Details ***
I approach each lesson differently because every student is unique. During the initial lesson I will begin to assess the student's ability, determine the best teaching technique for them, and setup a practicing at home guideline. My job is to help the student reach their individual goals and support them along the way. I feel every student deserves to learn to read music, learn theory, and practice their ear. I will concentrate on these fundamentals as a student progresses as a musician.

Lessons are currently taught in the students home or through an online format. There may be specific books and supplies I recommend purchasing (these will enhance the success of a budding musician). I work with the students to create song repertoire that the student finds enjoyable.

I have many years of experience teaching all ages (from beginner to advanced students). I contracted through various music studios throughout New Jersey. My students have performed in elementary, middle, and high school ensembles. Adults students have performed professionally as solo musicians and/or as part of ensembles.

I have been teaching since 2008 and have a BA in Music. I love to compose my own pieces of music and have studied many musical ideas.  I feel I am very knowledgeable in music theory.

Andrei has been our weekly music teacher for more than three years.  He teaches my son (now 9 years old) to read music and play the drums and the piano, and he teaches me to play the guitar.  

Andrei has been nothing but reliable and generous with his time.  He is proficient in music history and theory, in a wide range of musical styles, on multiple instruments. His patience, diverse knowledge and skills along with what appears to be an intuitive approach toward each of his varied students, has been very effective for us. Also, he knows A LOT of music, has a great ear and doesn't seem to mind working with us to play whatever tunes we come up with each week.
