Music Performance

My name is Erica Guidroz. I am a French horn and Trumpet teacher in the North hills of Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to this position, I taught in Fort Worth ISD in Texas as the Head Band Director at Stripling Middle School for two years and at Young Men's Leadership Academy for two years. At both schools,  the bands earned UIL sweepstakes trophies/ratings and many individual student awards. Before teaching in Fort Worth ISD, I worked with 6th-12th grade French horn students in the Southeast Texas area. Many of my students placed high in region competitions and received high marks for solo performances. 

 I received my bachelors degree in Music Education from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where I studied under the direction of Dr. Scott Deppe and Dr. Robert Culbertson. During my time at Lamar University, I had the privilege of performing with outstanding, world class musicians such as Ronald and Avis Romm and Alllen Vizzutti.

I have also performed with many ensembles including the Lamar University Brass Quintet, the Symphony of Southeast Texas, and the Mansfield Wind Symphony. 

Outside of the work place, I enjoy spending my time with family and serving at the local church I attend, New Horizon Church in Cranberry Township, PA.

My son really connected with her at their first lesson. She seems reliable and a good communicator, so looking forward to more lessons.

My 13-year-old daughter loves Erica so much. She says she is such a wonderful teacher and is a lovely person. Erica has also been so great to work with regarding scheduling. She is top notch! So happy we found her for beginning trumpet lessons!

Great first lesson! Erica is  a Very knowledgeable and patient teacher. she Had great suggestions and guidance during lesson and my son is excited to take what he has learned so far and put it into practice to make him a better French horn player

My lesson with Erica was such an encouraging time. Not only does she know her instrument craft very well, but her actual teaching skills were professional level. This is what stood out the most. Many people can tell you about instruments because they “are a professional musician”, but she can actually teach you how to become a musician. 
She taught the lesson in a way that kept me engaged and kept it from feeling like a simple “private lesson”. Her humor and personality were infectious. Ask her about her “big booty Judy whole rests”. 

I always leave with a task to take home and practice that builds upon the previous lessons. It’s encouraging seeing someone that has organized their teaching in such a way that the student can follow along and see their own improvement each week. Grateful for someone who cares about her students growth along with the music itself.
