Ahoj! Would you like to learn something more in Czech than just how to order a beer (pivo) ?

Let's get serious (not only because Czech has 7 cases, really weird sounds -ř- and words without vowels!).

My lessons are structured and have a clear goal of what to learn by the end of the class. My primary focus is on speaking and using correct grammar in oral presentation while I give you written exercises to do as your homework. I like to use exercise books as well as online articles, videos (news) and different internet learning platforms. When classes are online, we will do a plenty of interactive activities, role-plays, dialogues, speaking games, etc.

About Eliska

I am an experienced ESL teacher, qualified interpreter and translator. I am a native Czech and new to the US. Studying interpreting and translation helped me to understand differences between the languages which I then applied when teaching my husband Czech. During my classes, you will feel enc

I have been taking Czech lessons with Eliska for 10 months. She is terrific!! Very knowledgeable, patient, and fun to work with. Initially my abilities were rudimentary, but with her teaching I was able to get around very well in the Czech Republic. Usually sends some additional work prior to the lesson, and returns corrected homework within a day or two. I would recommend her highly!
Parker
Very positive demeanor, which helps to learn when you might feel bad or self-conscious for butchering grammar/pronunciation, and fun to talk to. As a native speaker of Czech, she has a slight accent yet isn't difficult to understand, only had to stop to ask her for clarification two or three times over the course of an hour. Good pacing, was not overwhelmed but still remained engaged.

Before our first session even began, she was already helpful in providing some suggestions for culture to look up, such as popular artists in certain genres of music.

Then at the end of our first session,
she left me with a few straightforward assignments to learn from until our next lesson.

I've had a great first impression. I'll see where things go in the future. Děkuju, Eliška!

I am a private tutor of Japanese for all ages, currently from age 7 to middle-age. I love to be a witness when my students suddenly "get" something new we've been working on for a while. Japanese is a fascinating, beautiful, and complicated language, and it's exciting to be a partner in my students' achievements and success!

I have a lot of experience teaching middle school and high school age students--including my own kids, whom I homeschool. My first visit to Japan was a semester study abroad in my senior year of high school, and I've lived there off and on since then. My students receive the benefit of my life experiences there, including preparation for the realities of daily life in Japan--from how to use the public transit, to what to do during a natural disaster.

Along with my on-the-ground experience working in Japan as a translator/interpreter in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, I hold an M.A. in Japanese and N1 (highest level) certification on the Japanese ...

As a non-traditional aged student, I was very intimidated by the Japanese language at the start of my lessons. Clare's patient and understanding instruction has been of immense help in my otherwise self-directed studies, and I'd highly recommend other adult learners take classes with her!
